I've always had a skin care routine but I've been lazy the past couple weeks so I've had a break out. My main issue is oil control and acne/scaring and discoloration from it, as well as pore shrinking.
I bought the fade cream for some discoloration due to a new BC pill and liked it a lot. I was given a coupon for $1.50 any facewash/moisturizer from the same line so I gave this a try. I've been using the Clinique Acne System and really been liking it however it's too harsh to use on a daily basis for me. I switch between that system and this every other day to avoid irritation. I have to say I like it even though it's a little heavy. VERY moisturizing and it leaves my skin feeling very smooth. My most recent break out has been clearing up enough that I could stop using such a heavy dose of acne meds to clear it so I use this to maintain.
I start off with a makeup wipe to take everything off (baby shampoo if I'm in the shower), this to exfoliate, following with an orange/witch hazel toner for oil control, pore minimizing serum from clinique, and aveeno daily moisturizer to finish it off. I don't put aveeno over the discoloration and use the fade cream on that, 2x a day. I also use a lemon/mint mask once a week. I'm happy so far with the results.
My skin feels very smooth but heavy for a little while after so i do this a good 20minutes before makeup, if I wear any. My skin is looking great, I mean GREAT. I should be able to skip the foundation in two weeks or so if everything goes well. Once my acne clears I'll stick with today's routine every day to maintain. Like I said it is heavy and I don't feel it's that great on oil removal so I may switch between this wash and my desert essence tea tree wash (AMAZING) every other day... and I try not to do too much exfoliation despite acne scaring and uneven surfaces.
I'm still testing it out so I'll update if anything changes. I'm not the type to break out from cleansers but there's a first time for everything. For the price, I'm loving this as an exfoliation product.
Oh, and a lot of you were set off by the smell, I honestly kinda like it. Same thing with Aveeno products.

I think this product is pretty good. It's clearing my acne that's on my forehead and I like what it does to my face. Its really good to me. Everyone has different skin so for the people that it didn't work for I guess you have to find something else that works for your skin. Overall I like this product.

I started using this product on Tuesday. After I used it the next day (Wednesday) my skin became flaky around my mouth. I really wanted to like this product but this white flakiness is not cute. Save your money & buy something else. continued >>

I remember when I first started forming a skincare routine, I didn't really know what to buy. I was googling every skincare brand I could find and I found Ambi and purchased this product.
Long story short, I didn't like it. It didn't break me out, I didn't get any kind of rash or anything, but I just felt that it just wasn't...for me? I don't know if I'm making any sense lol. The first time I used it, the smell just irritated me, and I'm not sensitive to smells at all lol. Also, after using it, I didn't feel as if it cleaned my face at all.
I was just not feeling this product and after the second time of using it, I threw it away.

Like many others who've rated this product I too would have to agree that this stuff is NOT the business! OMG I'm having the worst breakout I've ever had in my life. I've always had minimal acne through my teens years and now at 20, after using this product, I have the face of a 13 year old going thru puberty. I think this stuff CONTRIBUTED to my breakouts since not much has changed about my lifestyle. I have more blackheads, more pimples, those little "heat bumps" all the time & my skin had NOT cleared in the slightest. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, save your $$$. continued >>

okay, I'm having the most horrible breakout I've had in years. Why did I try this awful product? Who knows how many scars this will ADD to my face, rather than helping remove them? What the hell is IN this stuff? I would like to throw this at the manufacturer. Total crap.

Freakin' sucks. If you have oily skin with blackheads, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! You will get even more blackheads. Took me about a month to realize I was breaking out even more. My dermatologist even noticed! >:( continued >>

I would not buy this product again because I really believe that this product contributed to one of the products that broke my face out. Yes, this product makes my skin feel soft after I wash my face but that is the only thing that this product does.

I got this cleanser 2 weeks ago, and i havent used anything since because this cleanser is so good!! I usually use 2 different cleansers in the day and night because my skin in fairly clean when i wake up and and an oily mess by the end of the night, but this cleanser didnt strip my skin dry in the morning and got all my makeup off, plus it made my skin super clean and soft! the little beads in the cleanser exfoliate really well, you just have to be patient and scrub your face for about 1 minute. proir to using this cleanser i was breaking out like crazy, the worse i ever broke out in my life. i havent gotten any new pimples after using this. my scars are getting lighter, but it may be the affect of my lightening cream. this cleanser one of the best that i've ever tried!!

I have never suffered from acne in my life. My skin was even and smooth, especially while using Clear Essence Fade cream, but I stopped using it last summer due to the hydroquinone. My skin for the past 3 months started breaking out so I did research on AMBI products and like what I was reading. I finally bought this stuff last weekend and it's only been a few day but I can see a difference already! My skin feels smooth again and the scars from breakouts are already fading! Hopefully this euphoria lasts...but so far I am very pleased. No drying my skin out, no flaking, no squeaky clean feeling, just clean and smooth skin. Try this product, you may be pleasantly surprised.

I just bought this around a week ago. I'm half-black, so I get all sorts of hyperpigmentation from my acne that nobody seems to make products for. On the other hand my skin is rather resilient, so I never really get dry or flaky.
When I first started using this product I was a little dry for the first couple of days, but nothing major. I think I'm seeing some improvement in my comedones (though that could be because of my birth control) but no particular improvement in dark marks thus far. It's been a short time though, I hope this works!
I regularly use a DIY apple cider vinegar mask for dark marks and acne, and it works really well for me.

bought this after loving the results of ambi fade cream. I used it and made my skin feel smooth and soft. Loved it! But after a few days, I noticed it breaks me out. :( it's a good product. But for me, it just doesn't work.

I *LOVE* the entire Ambi line. (Well what i've tried so far) I use this exfoliating wash after I use the Ambi foaming cleanser. It leaves my skin soo soft. I don't think it's the BEST exfoliator on the market, but it works for my skin so i'll continue to repurchase.

A little background: I've been on the search for "it" in my skincare routine it seems for most of my life. I realized early on that I had "problem" skin. I couldn't just splash water on my face like my friends or use Noxema, although I tried that too since it was a staple in the bathroom. I've gone the natural route, minimalist, oil cleansing, straight BP--you name it, I've tried it. I'll admit I'm skittish about actually sticking to anything. I'm never impressed enough to do so or I've caused a break out/excessive oiliness from the over drying/over moisturizing. Finally, after using PanOxyl for a few weeks my skin just could no longer tolerate the harsh BP. I remembered though that my skin can't JUST make out with Cetaphil either. FF: Picked up Ambi @ CVS. Never really tried the concept of skincare for women of color like myself, figured it may be more effective. I use this at night, Cetaphil in the morning along with one of the drying cloths from The Body Shop to keep bacteria at bay. Thus far I have the clearest skin I've had in probably 3 years of experimentation. Definitely a keeper!
Edit: Had to stop using this as it began to dry out my skin. I think it's this particular concentration of acid (.05%).

I surprisingly really like this product. I use it every night and it makes my skin so smooth. I don't use this to wash off my makeup; I use a different foaming cleanser. My skin is quite sensitive and was worried that exfoliating every night would irritate it, but it's really gentle in my opinion. My face had a bit of discoloration around my nose area and I began to notice that it started to even out after a couple days of using this wash. Overall, I had a great experience with this - definitely will buy it again.

I am a fan of the Ambi Even & Clear Moisturizer, but that's where it stops. I wanted to love this, but couldn't do it. It wouldn't let me. I found it to be greasy, and it didn't leave my face feeling clean at all - let alone exfoliated! Even worse, it caused a horrible break out after just 2-3 days of use! Countless, stubborn and unsightly whiteheads!! I ended up getting my money refunded. continued >>

This product is a creamy type substance with VERY small 'beads' for exfoliating. It does NOT do a great job exfoliating. I have combo skin, and found this to be a little too 'moisturizing' for my skin type so I couldn't use it long enough to tell if it actually lightens dark marks.
NOT recommended for anyone who really needs exfolliating or anyone with oily skin.
It is gentle enough for daily use, and those with skin who could use a LITTLE moisture (but would probably be too drying for dry skin types).
Its fairly in expensive, but because it doesnt work for me - I would not buy it again. I gave mine away.

This is a pretty cheap cleanser, but it's nothing special. It dried out my skin a bit (not into the horrible flaky mess its foaming counterpart did though, so thank heavens for that), but didn't do anything to help my acne-prone skin. 3 lippies for being a general cleanser acne-free people can use without killing their skin cells.
