I get a lot of compliments when wearing this lipstick. To some people it looks brown, to others deep red. I think it's a nice berry/wine shade. It's highly pigmented and stays on. It's also very moisturizing. I like the texture of this lipstick a lot. I wear it when I go out - I tried wearing it to work once and felt too "made up". It looks best with a neutral eye.
Definitely buying this one again.
I got this lipstick as a free gift from clinique. At first i didnt like this lipstick at all. Like a few other people said, it didn't look flattering. I usually stick to pinks and nudes. I still kept it in my collection. Now that i'm a bit older, i feel like i can start to wear more color on my lips. I pulled this out again and fell in love with it. It is a dark color but you can definitely tone it down by blotting it with some tissue. It's a plummy, berry color. I wore it with very neutral eye makeup, literally almost the color of my skin, which i also think helped make this lipstick look better on me. It's so smooth and not drying.
I like how pigmented the color and how smooth the texture is.
Yes, the color is pretty dark (see photo above with and without gloss), but it's cool to wear in the evening.
If you like dark pigmented colors, then I would recommend this lipstick!

This shade is extremely pigmented. Maybe it would work better if put on as a light stain with some clear gloss overtop. As much as I want to like it and the formula feels great, it's not looking good when applied full strength directly as all I see in the mirror are Herman Munster's lips looking back at me. Very dark violet and blue undertone which contrasts pale skin in a bad way, at least on me.
Received a full sized tube of A Different Grape as part of a GWP.
A Different Grape was easy to apply and blend, scentless, good consistency, hydrating, and a gorgeous plum/purple colour that was not too starkof NC 15 skin. Love to pair it with a taupe or champagne eye to really allow the lipstick to stand out. Packaging is standard style for lipstick. Price isn't as bad as other HE brands -Clinique lipstick prices are on par with MAC, so it is easy to afford a wardrobe of colour options.
Great colour, great lippie! Will repurchase if I finish the two GWP tubes that I have!
I LOVE this lipstick. I usually avoid them because I feel like they make me look clown-like, but this one is perfect. I have very pale skin and light brown hair/dark brown eyes, and very naturally pigmented lips (i.e. dark red) and it looks really good on me. It's like my natural lip-colour but better. I find it to be a moisturizing formula, and it doesn't run or bleed or anything like that. I'm a big fan and will definitely repurchase!
I had heard so many good things about this lipstick shade that I had to try it and I absolutely love it! A Different Grape is a gorgeous and very flattering medium plum shade, that is neither too red nor too blue on my rather pigmented lips and NC42 Indian skin tone. It has a creme, semi matte finish on its own, and also looks very nice topped by clear or matching gloss for evening. Its coverage is good and quite buildable for rich dark colour as well as a more sheer wash. It has very good staying power and applies evenly without feathering or settling into lines on drier lips. I thought the formula was very slightly dry, but this is probably because I am used to very heavy creamy lipsticks like Revlon Colorburst, Lakme Lip Love, Revlon PlumpSexxy etc. I would purchase this more for the shade, which is amazing, than for the fairly ordinary formula.
This is a pretty bleh lipstick color. Nothing really special or something to write home about. It is very silky smooth upon application and tends to dry out over some time into a stain/matte finish. I've had this lipstick in my collection for quite sometime and haven't disposed of it due to having a difficult time finding suitable colors for the fall/winter months d/t to my fair/light complexion. Will not repurchase nor do I recommend this product.
UPDATE: PURGED
Heard good reviews on this so I bought one cause i do like Clinique. This is nice but I'd only wear it on an evening out because on me it does turn out quite dark which I didnt expect cause on others it looked alot lighter on. Bit of a disappointment but never mind..I have a fair complexion so maybe it's better on certain skin colourings.

This shade is very Gossip Girl/ Blair Waldorf. Sophisticated, but definitely need a soft face and youthful lips to pull this colour off, or light hair and light skin. It's dark yet it's bright, like the colour of wine, just less red and more berry.
