I bought this about a month ago and have been using it ever since. The product hasn't broken me out and does not irritate my skin like other moisturizers I've used. The moisturizer feels light and while I don't think that it has made my skin any softer than before, it does prevent my skin from being dry and flaky. It does have a slight smell and while it isn't pleasant, it isn't unpleasant to me either. For the price, I think it does a fair job.
This product didn't really suit my skin type because I have combination skin it tends to get oily around my t-zone and this moisturizer isn't oil free so it made my t-zone shiny. But it was definitely soothing and moisturizing.
If you have sensitive skin definitely try this.
I've only got a sample of the aloe moisturizer as I have sensitive skin and don't want to commit to a whole tub without trying it first. I like that this moisturizer is light and non-irritating, I also like the colour! But I find it is very sticky, even after an hour of using it I still feel that my face is sticky.
Wouldn't get it again, probably won't even finish my tester of it.
(FYI The Body Shop is THE BEST for testers, you can get a sample of any product they have! The give it to you in a little pot and usually give you enough for 4-5 uses, plus once you're done the pots are great for travel, or making your own lippie or storing tiny beads, excellent).
Many have complained about the smell. I don't mind it and it doesn't take over nor give out any scent while applied, according to me. I've used two other The body shop moisturizers ( Vitamine E & See weed) and this one is by far the superior according to me. Apart from The body shop products, I've used stuff like Clinique, Lumene, Garnier, Artistry, Mary Kay, Ester Lauder, Lancome etc. However, this I by far the best one I've tried.
When applied it smoothens the skin and you can feel how it's moisturizing your skin as it is applied. Furthermore, it drys in quickly so there is no problem what so ever with it making your skin feel oily or etc, as it is applied.
When purchased, I also bought the gentle facial cleanser (not the foam form) and the exfoliator. And I have to say I'm impressed! By far the best skin products for me.
As for my skin, it is very dry. I break out easily and also have imperfections. With other moisturizers my skin falls back into its crispy dry-self after an hour or so - or if very fat, gives out this horrible oily look. However, this product keeps it moist lasting about all day long.
The only problem I have, the reason why I didnt give it five stars, is because even though it keeps my skin moist, somehow and sometimes during the day, it gets oily - or at least looks so. Now I'm using my usual Make up store foundation and nothing but, so I know it's not the foundation. To sum it all up - it keeps my skin from feeling like sandpaper, I'd rather be a bit oily and dot it away with a tissue than go back to what my skin used to be.
I'm about to re-purchase this Aloe Vera moisturizer, and that prompts me to write a review. My skin is sensitive and is (getting) older, and this facial moisturizer is mind and non-irritating. A little dab of this under my semi-sheer BB cream is all I need to feel nice and natural-looking all day. Lately I've developed a renewed appreciation for The Body Shop, particularly their aloe and tea tree lines.
I'm a bit of a hussy when it comes to moisturisers but this is the one I always come back to when my skin isn't at its best.
Despite being a day cream, it's really very moisturising and serves as both my day and night cream. It's also perfect for people with really sensitive/reactive skin as it's designed to calm skin down and reduce sensitivity.
In terms of the smell, it's a bit weird but unlike other reviewers, I don't find it unpleasant in any sort of way.
Lastly, the jar can be a bit unhygienic but it does let you use every last bit so nothing goes to waste.
*just as a side note, when I say it's the moisturiser i always come back to, I mean it it actually beats pricier brands for me. I'll dabble in estee lauder or clarins moisturisers hoping for some new HG discovery but for the most part, this actually beats them and is about a third of the price.
I've tried several face moisturizers from The Body Shop. This one is pretty good; it's light and I use it several times a day (morning, shower, night). My skin is typically combination/dry in winter and combination/oily in summer. I am a semi-frequent shopper at TBS and am a member of their rewards program. Therefore, the prices are usually less, and they have sales frequently, so the prices of their items fluctuate in my overall experience. I paid about $13 for this product, full retail is typically $17. It comes in a 1.7 ounce jar. It lasted me about 2-2.5 months. That's a lot, considering I use it 2-3 times daily. I tend to use a lot of product, as my aesthetician has told me to use moisturizer liberally and not to neglect my neck! Anyway, I often wear this product under makeup, it's lightweight, and does not have any fragrance.
All in all, I like this product, and would absolutely buy it again. However, my favorite TBS moisturizer ever would have to be the Vitamin E Intense Moisturizer (pink jar). This moisturizer much thicker and great for winter time. Since I've run out of the Aloe Day Cream, I've purchased the same product, except with SPF 15 in it. Overall, I'm a big TBS fan!
I really love aloe for my sensitive, dry skin. If anything that touches my face has a trace of unnatural (non essential-oil) fragrance it flares up in hives and is horribly painful and not to mention unsightly.
I used to use LUSH's Celestial moisturizer but I found that the vanilla in that even caused some reaction. Shame, I really enjoyed how it made my skin feel.
This is like $13 for a 1 ounce container which makes it cheaper than Celestial. No fragrance whatsoever.
I use this right after a cool water rinse in my shower while my skin is slightly damp. I use a spatula and scoop out a pea-sized amount of product and my dry face feels smooth and creamy afterwards. It doesn't take a lot of product which makes the price seem less steep. With LUSH's moisturizers, I always needed to use sooooooo much.
It leaves my skin feeling truly moisturized, sinks in within a minute tops and the tight irritated feeling I always had disappears. I noticed that my fine lines went away and it decreased my blackheads over the course of using every morning and night.
Overall, I will repurchase this again, but I would love a squeeze tube option. (germ-o-phobe)
Love this moisturizer to death!
I've been hunting for a moisturizer that wouldn't break my acne prone sensitive skin out and this has been working well for me.
Tried this for around 1 month and no signs of clogged pores, rashes or skin irritation in fact i noticed an overall improvement in the sensitivity of my skin.
My skin is now more tolerant to other products and doesn't break out as often.
It's a good moisturizer and it feels really light on my skin!!!
I was using jojoba oil previously and this is just as good!
*Thumbs up for the body shop*
I really loved this cream from the beginning, it makes your skin soft and didn't give me any breakouts... until after maybe 1-2 months when I got these weird little pimples on areas that I never have had any problems before, like on my forehead and around the nose.
these pimples are really persistant and does not act like "normal" ones. They are really dry and hard...
So sad that this product didn't work for me because I really like the thought of natural products and I really want to be a fan of The Body Shop but they make it hard for me....
