This stuff was such a huge dissapointment, I was hoping it would be better than KMF's hot spot stick. It is less greasy, but that is the only positive aspect. It left white streaks everywhere it was applied. I attempted to wipe it in, but it just sat on top of my skin. This crap is totally unusable and a waste of 10$.

Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. This stuff left a heavy white coating on my lips and skin. I know this is a common result of using a physical (titanium/zinc) sunblock, but this one was worse than most. I'd be hard pressed to go out in public with this on. Even applying neutral lipstick over it couldn't make it look natural. When I put it on my body, it took forever to apply, was impossible to spread evenly (somewhat like coloring with a big crayon), and then left a white stain on everything I touched--seats, clothing, etc., that didn't even come out in the wash! It's a (supposedly) relatively safe product, but there have to be better ones out there for use in the real world.

I totally agree about how this is hard to rub on your face. I don't like how it feels on the skin after application, like kind of sticky. Makes you look white (BAD!). I guess it's good "natural" sun protection but a total waste of $12. You can't return it or exchange it either. I am disappointed.

Let me preface this review by saying have tried just about every sunscreen out there. Expensive ones, cheap ones, you name it. This is the best facial sunscreen byfar. Notice I said facial. The stick is small and fits perfectly in your purse, but you would use half of it to cover your whole body - their SPF 30+ in a tube is meant to be used on your body. This stuff is 100% better and less greasy than Shiseido Face with SPF 55. It goes on clear and dries to a nice finish immediatley, so you don't have to wait the additional 10 minutes that you would have to with other sunscreens. My application method is as follows: stripe on forehead, stripe on nose, stripe on chin, stripe on the apples of the cheek, and finally stripe on lower jaw areas. I then rub them into tue surrounding areas to ensure I have complete coverage. This is on the cheaper end of the sunscreen scale at $12.00 and tends to go out of stock very quickly. If you see them at your local store grab at least three to hoard and I promise you won't be disappointed.

This is a "physical" sunblock, not a "chemical" sunscreen, providing a deflective physical barrier on top of the skin rather than penetrating the dermis layers to form a "chemical" layer. The key to an item being "physical sunblock" or "chemical sunscreen" is whether its active ingredients are known to be able to penetrate the skin (just google the ingredients and look for key tems like "penetration" or "dermis").
As a previous reviewer has mentioned, the texture of this sunscreen is like a dry balm, very difficult to blend. During the first several days of trial, I followed the instructions on the stick and liberally applied, and even with my light Asian skin, I looked like I had bad kabuki accidents every morning :D The amount I had put on made the sunscreen impossible to rub in. Worse, I thought moisturizing my dry skin would make the sunscreen greasier, so I left my face bare. As a result, the stuff stayed on my face and just shifted around in patches as I rubbed and rubbed and rubbed - ick! The only good things about this sunscreen so far are that it does not irritate my sensitive skin (no blocked pores, no redness), it smells decent (a touch citrusy that reminds me of Tang), and it does not seep into my eyes and burn them. Considering the long, hot and humid NJ days that melts everything right off and with the massive amount I've been gooping on, that's pretty amazing staying power!
2 WEEKS UPDATE: A ha! So I found moisturizing my face (except for the nose and forehead) makes it easier to blend the sunscreen. I have figured out the perfect application amount as well (at least for me):
- 3 horizontal strokes on the forehead from side to side
- 1 down the nose ridge and then 1 on each side of the nose
- 1 stroke over each eye lid (again, the sunscreen does NOT bother my eyes) plus 1 stroke right below each eye
- 1 long stroke on each side, tracing the outline of the face, from the temple all the way down to the chin
- in 1 stroke, draw a circle around the mouth
- draw a circle on each cheek
- then blend away!!!
Using the application methods above, after blending I found the sunscreen less apparent on my face, leaving a semi-matte finish with a dewy sheen if looked at from an angle. At the end of the day, I have a little bit more sheen on my forehead and nose (I have dry skin with oily t-zone) but that was it! Very happy with this discovery so far. Now I will try wearing make up with this sunscreen to see how it will fare :D Will update again later.
6 WEEKS UPDATE: I now use this as an afternoon touch-up for my Badger SPF 30. It is in a convenient stick so I just throw it into my bag :D And forget about the makeup. The only thing that doesn't crease with this sunblock is blush :(
5 MONTHS UPDATE: i've stopped using this as well as Badger after noticing my face has tanned! it also badly clogged my pores even when i use DHC Deep Cleansing Oil + a separate cleanser as recommended!

This is okay. It does not have fragrance which is good, but the consistency is rather hard to rub on skin- it's a lot like a dry lip balm. The SPF is a good range and it does not contain extra chemicals, but like I said, it is horrible to apply and has no slip. I will use again until I find a better organic HG sun balm stick.
