I don't get what all the hype is about, aside from the fragrance-free part. Basically, if you live in Asia, you can walk into any drugstore and find an array of sunscreens with the same type of watery/milky texture but with better ingredients (meaning better protection) at the fraction of the price. I'm talking about NT$150 for a 30ml bottle cheap. That is fairly reasonable for something that you're supposed to slather on every single day. 30ml should last you approximately 2-3 weeks if used daily on both face and neck.
1) SHISEIDO's best-selling Asian exclusive sunscreen line ANESSA has some of the best sunscreens on the market, even surpassing the much overrated Sofina which does not provide adequate enough protection.
2) KOSE has a fabulous line called RESOA which contains 19.88% Zinc Oxide yet still dries 100% transparent. I can put 3 layers on in the morning and it is still undetectable. Now THAT is what I call sunscreen technology.
3) KANEBO has its own ALLIE line that shares the same patent from the Kao Group as Sofina's, but the protection ALLIE offers is far superior to Sofina's.
There you go, the 3 major Japanese brands with their own sunscreen lines that are selling like hot cakes here in Asia. I have used sunscreens from all over the world including those nasty glue-like high PPD European ones. And all I can say is the Asian sunscreen technology/market/awareness are light years ahead of its western counterpart.
Sorry folks but American sunscreens are total BS though. I always cringe at the thought of having to purchase sunscreens imported from the USA, because they are almost always pure chemical which is basically like setting fire to one's face and contributing to further melasma. Luckily I don't have to given the variety of options I have. America is the land of plenty but certainly lacking in the sunscreen department. One of my favorite quotes from someone on this topic is "What are you gonna do? Wait for the FDA to get real?"

Very efficient on my skin, which is hard to satisfy ! (sensitive and oily-combination)
Very very good and gives a matte feeling for half a day.
Only drawback : it is not a moisturizer. Yes, a little, but not enough for sensitive skin.
I used it for 2 years now, and I am so disapointed to learn that VERY VERY Series is discontinued.
I will try HADAKA, the new version, and compare. But we will be obliged to buy HADAKA now...

This is a very lightweight sunscreen. It leaves you with a matte and dry finish, which also makes it a good makeup base. I heard very mixed reviews in the effectiveness of this sunscreen. Some claimed it's effective in blocking sunscreen, some claimed it's not. I didn't dare to test this when I went on traveling. To me it was okay for daily uses. Recently I saw a UV test comparing this product to other sunscreens, this sunscreen wasn't really that effective in blocking UVA =S. I'm not going to take the risk again. There are other more effective sunscreens out there in the market.

This is my holy grail for sunscreen!
It's not greasy and it moisturises quite well, more importantly it doesn't give me breakouts despite my super oily skin. The thing I love most about this product is it's made my old acne scars (been there for over 5 years) disappear after using it every day for a summer! It's like magic!
It's a bit expensive but 1 bottle can last me around 9 months if used 5 days a week. I'll definitely stick to this product! Love it!

I have both this and the UV Perfect (twice as large, spf 50+). I currently have a huge stash of sunscreen I'm trying to work through, and this is the one I'm currently using. It just happens to also be perfect for summer. True the ppd is probably not all that high, but it is a true delight to use in the summertime for oily skins like mine (as is the UV Perfect). Like the other reviews have said, it's a watery, milky lotion that spreads VERY easily and doesn't whiten or streak. I find it a little drying on areas of my face that are already prone to flakes and dryness (I use Retin-A) so I use a moisturizer on my neck, around my mouth area, and around my eyes, let that dry a bit and then spread this on. It's really a delight to use. I have recently purchased a bunch of European, high PPD sunscreens, and even the "matte" ones of those are greasy. This, on the other hand, truly helps my skin stay matte longer. I still blot int he middle of the day, but that would be a given anyway, no matter what I'm using. The lack of fragrance is a huge plus, as well. Some cons: a little pricey for the 30mL container, feels a little bit alcohol-y going on, and can be drying, like I said, but these are all minor. Non-greasy, unfragranced UV-protection is really hard to find, in my opinion. This is very much worth having on hand. 4.5 rating from me :)

I've been using Sofina UV Cut Milk for more than three years and I will keep on using it. The Very Very range of Sofina is perfect for young and combination/oily skin, or Acne-prone skin. This UV Cut milk is light, non-greasy and long-lasting. I personally prefer to use it in the summer and turn to the Rise range in the Autumn/Winter as I feel a bit dry on the cheeks in a cold weather. The only downside of this UV Cut milk is that you have to shake it well before you apply it on your face. A bit annoying in a rush morning..

This has to be the best sunscreen EVER. I have finally found the holy grail of all sunscreens. I have tried everything! I purchased this from bobodave.com who duly shipped it out from Hong Kong within a couple of days. It has the most weirdest texture - not unpleasant or anything like that just different to the usual sunscreens I have used before. It is almost milky in texture which enables it to literally glide onto the skin. It automatically sinks in and honestly you cannot tell you have sunscreen on. It provides a beautiful matte coverage to the skin and all products applied on top just glide on. It doesn't clog pores nor cause me any breakouts. Will definitely repurchase!
EDIT: It also provides the best sun protection. I was out in the Australian sunlight (very intense) and I have very sensitive skin prone to burning and freckling. Needless to say after 5 hours in the sun between 10a.m. and 3 p.m. there was NO BURNING on my face. True miracle.

I absolutely love this stuff! I have about 4 bottles in my, I guess, Storage area, ready to go! When I first put this on I was surprised to see how "matte" It went on... usually sunscreens are kind of thick and greasy. One time I just put some mascara, liner, and this sunscreen stuff, and my brother had asked if I put foundation on. When I said no, he kept doubting me!! This stuff is just so great. I'd recommend it to anyone who hasn't already have found their favorite sunscreen that is smooth, thin, and looks great. If you already have your favorite, I'd suggest sticking to it because it IS pricey. If you haven't then you should definitely try it out!
A word of advice though, Sofina's a Japanese brand, which means it's more suitable for Asian skin. (whee!)

A very light in texture sunscreen. I just feel like nth is on my face after I put it on. It won't make your face oily or shiny or make you feel sticky or greasy or uneasy.
I had been using this product for 2 years until I switched to the Rise line of the same brand last 2 months ago coz I don't know why I got more pimples when I used the Very Very line but less if I use the Rise line. Weird. But I definitely will keep using Rise UV Cut Milk.

I love it. Best sunscreen in the market. It is very light lotion but give you SPF24 PA+++. good for summer. It is a liitle bit pricey for only 30ml. But I Will still buy it, just because I could find cheaper one same or better than this.

This is such a great sunscreen. Finally, one that isn't gloopy, greasy or sticky! Japanese moisturizers are typically called "milk" and have a much more watery consistency then their Western counterparts. The thinner liquid takes a little getting used to, but it spreads so easily and dries so quickly, giving you a matte, unscented (ooh, and I hate scented sunscreen), and very smooth finish. The feeling is so pleasant, and is a good base for makeup. I'm glad I found this when I did, b/c I used to NEVER wear sunscreen (bad! bad!). The container is rather small, but I think that's common amongst Japanese sunscreens. I've worn it everyday for a month, and it's almost halfway done, which is better than I expected. I wish it came in a higher SPF though, so I want to try Sofina's Perfect UV cut milk next. But this is definitely a good buy!

I love this sunscreen !!! Finally a sunscreen that doesn't make me oily or create a whitish mask. I never use sunscreen in the past altho I love sun and beaches. I have oily and acne prone skin as well, talking about serious acne problem and red acne marks. I'm 26 now, and just started using sunscreen from a year ago. All the sunscreens that I've tried still very oily on me, high brands, etc. Lately I did lots of chemical peels, so I'm so scared of skin thinning and I want to prevent all these ugly acne marks. Sofina UV 24 helps me with this. It's so smooth on the skin and it's non oily after hours and hours. Pretty pricey for a small bottle, I think. But well, it's Japanese products known for their quality. Why not. I still like to get tan, so UV 24 is perfect for me. It's convenient for travel.

THANK YOU MUA for turning me on to this product!!!!! I have very oily skin but would like to avoid wrinkles and skin cancer, so I have been using sunscreens for years and when I say have tried alot of them I am serious. Since first reading about MEXORYL in Vogue I've been using the VICHY or LA ROCHE POSAY liquids and sprays which provided me with the highest SPF (50+) and the lightest texture I had ever found (usually available on Canadian pharmacy.com ) but they blocked my pores, granted much less than any other brand up until I read about SOFINA. Well it is better for me in that it really helps to control my oily skin and provides BETTER SUN PROTECTION. If my skin was combination NORMAL TO DRY or DRY/DRY you would need to use a moisturizer/serum underneath. This product offers a smooth matte somewhat white finish which is perfect for use under makeup, you wont need a primer anymore. If you're African American-Darker Latin or anyone with more pigment to their skin the white cast might be a deal breaker, HOWEVER IF you're going to follow with an application of foundation YOU'LL BE GREAT! PLEASE don't misunderstand me, it's not as bad as some of the physical sunblocks out there but there still is a SLIGHT kind of BLANC DE CHANEL finish to this product. I FOUND IT EASILY ON EBAY. Sofina UVCUT MILK SPF 50+is now called SOFINA PERFECT UV SPF 50+

Lovely sunscreen. After I heard so many people talking about this, i can wait to try one. Have been using it about 2 months now and really like it, it's so light! even lighter than my usualy lotion. It goes on smoothly and my face feels like silk. Not greasy at all so it's great for summer! Enough for everyday UV protection. Will definately repurchase!

It does excellent job in controlling my excessive oil on my cheeks and nose. My face does not get greasy and feels fresh all the time. will definately repurchase it. The only shortcoming is it only comes in small bottle.

THere seems to be a bit of confusion about names. Is this the same product as "Vitalrich UV Cut Milk?"

I only received a sample of this..but i have to say i like it. It gets points for the SPF factor, and the fact that it does not aggravate my oily skin. Though its a white, opaque liquid, it does not leave my skin looking white or pasty - BIG PLUS. However, it is very pricey for the amount you get...
