It's a shame this shadow has been discontinued with the release of Urban Decay's new shadow formula, because Zero is really a knockout black eyeshadow. It's a rich, carbon black shadow that contains silver glitter, which is hardly noticeable once applied and blended. This shadow is nearly matte, and I think we all know how difficult matte or semi-matte black shadows can be -- chalky, with a tendency to have fallout, and oftentimes not super pigmented. Zero has very rich pigment -- I literally tap my brush as lightly as possible onto the shadow and I have picked up enough to cover my entire eyelid. The texture, like all of Urban Decay's Deluxe Shadows, is buttery and soft, and as long as I blend lightly, I don't experience fallout. Because this shade has less of a sheen to it than most of the other Deluxe Shadows, this color is slightly more chalky than the others that I have tried. But like I said, apply gently, and you won't have an issue.
Another thing that makes Zero so great is that it's very buildable. If you use the tiniest amount and really blend it out, you can make this a very deep grey, but if you really layer this, you'll get a serious black color. I find blacks very prone to transferring if you touch your eyes or take a nap, but with a primer underneath, Zero always stays put without creasing, fading, or rubbing off. This also makes this shadow perfect for lining both the upper and lower lashlines.
I'm not fretting too much about this shade going away, because I don't reach for such a dark black on a daily basis and since it takes so little to get a really dramatic effect, I think this will last me many more years. If you haven't tried this and you're looking for a great semi-matte black, it's likely that Urban Decay will have a sale in the near future to get rid of their stock of these, so I highly recommend picking this up.

This is one of my favorite black shadows ever. All of the UD Deluxe shadows I have tried have been amazingly buttery and blendable. This one is certainly no exception.
Zero is a deep black with a definite sheen. It's not incredibly glittery or frosty, but it does shimmer very slightly. The texture is phenomenal. It blends gorgeously and is perfect for smokey eyes. Sometimes when I want to keep the color payoff and smokiness but lose the sheen, I'll layer with just a touch of a matte black shadow.
In terms of price, it's not cheap, but the pan is significantly bigger than other eyeshadows, like regular UD pans and MAC pans.

This is my favorite black eyeshadow- the perfect shade of black and it's not
too sparkly but gives enough of a sheen to give my eyelids dimension. I love the rich pigment. This is definitely my go-to black e/s for my everyday smokey eye. I think it's the perfect shade for my NC35-40 skin tone because it seems like a warmer charcoal-y black, if that makes sense. I've tried other black e/s that were too ashy or chalky but this one is really rich and warm IMO. I also think it blends a lot easier and smoother than MAC.

Good black eyeshadow, but not as dark as Mac's carbon

This is a very reliable deep black shadow. It has some very subtle shimmer to it, and is nicely pigmented and long lasting just like all the other UD Deluxe Shadows I've tried. I *rarely* reach for black e/s, since I am very fair I tend to stick to light to medium colors for every day wear, but on special occasions I like to step it up, and Zero never lets me down :) Great for a smoky look and works with virtually any other color I can think of, it also blends wells and works great as an eye liner. Highly recommend!

I got Zero in the Deluxe shadow box. I tried using it on its own, but it was not black enough for me. It had a sheen to it, and looked grey in certain lighting. I now use this over my eyeliner on the bottom lashline to make it look smudged and to make it last longer. Used over black eyeliner, this turns pure black, with no grey tones in it. I only gave this 4 because i would not buy this again since i would rather buy a matte black eyeshadow that i could use all over my eyelids, but Zero serves a purpose in my makeup routine. I will use it up. This is good for people who do not want intense black eyeshadow, and want to control how dark/light it goes.

Most awesome black grey eyeshadow. If I were to only have one e/s ever I would pick this one. HAVE BOUGHT LOTS OF BACKUPS just in case it gets discontinued. I'm obsessed with this one.

I don't venture into color eyeshadow, so i am trying new black eyeshadows all the time. This one is my favorite. I was obsessed with matte black, but since generally i keep my face matte, i wanted something extra. Zero is not shimmery, but not matte. It is not as pigmented as i would like, but i layer it and it is fine. I like to smudge my eyeliner on the bottom, so i go over my eyeliner with Zero eyeshadow.

Zero is a great shadow! It's similar to UD's Oil Slick -- but with much less glitter. As much as I love my glittery eyeshadows, I tend to reach for shadows such as Zero much more frequently. Zero is great for placing in the outer corner to darken up any look. It also makes a great smokey eye!

Zero is black, I use it wet as eyeliner. I apply two coats, letting it dry between coats. Looks like a kohl liner. Lasts all day w/ UDPP.

I bought this based on MUA reviews and Bobbi Brown eyeliner tips. I really like it even if I don't use it much. I use it with a lip liner brush and apply it as an eye liner when I don't want liquid liner. Its great and I love the package! Pros: wears well through day, application is easy, container is great to use as something else when zero is gone, the price is good considering how much I get and the package is a fun re-usable one. Cons: I really don't have any? go figure. I love this stuff as a powder eye-liner. I will buy again and again.

I got this in one of the palettes and it is one of the one's I use the most- I love it, such a great colour pay out. It is the non-shimmery version of Oil Slick. Works well as a liner too.

My favorite black shadow of all time. Normally, I'd opt for MAC's Carbon when doing a smokey eye, but its pigmentation usually scares me a little (it's way too dark for me!). Zero, on the other hand, has the perfect intensity. Not too dark, not too light, but just right. I'm also loving the satin finish, which is so different from the lustres which UD is fond of. Overall, I love this! Would repurchase.

I have found my HG black eye shadow at last!!! This is the perfect shadow to create a smokey Britney Spears or Brigit Bardot eye. It blends beautifully and you can blend it out to a dark gray or add on more color to make it a satiny shimmery black, which makes it very versatile. It has no fallout, which is amazing for a black shadow. It looks great with my blond hair and hazel eyes, not at all too dark. This is better than MAC's carbon or some of the other black shadows out there. It is a little pricey, but I plan on using it for years (I've already had it about 6 months), so it's well worth it. You get a lot for what you pay for. This is THE SHADOW for a SMOKEY EYE!!!!

I just got this product with the mail today. It's an extremely black color, no signs of grey at all, with just a little bit of shimmer in it. It's amazing for higher definition of your eyeshadows for your smokey eyes, where you can apply it on your crease area and blend it in with your eyeshadow. It's AMAZING as an eyeliner as well. You can apply it with a very thing angled liner brush and nobody would see a difference from a real eyeliner and this eyeshadow =P
I love how pigmented this is.
The packaging gets a negative point from me though. I like palettes more and at first it was quite hard to even open this package. But it's not impossible and I'll get used to it with time. =]
But all in all, this product gets 4 lippies from me. Lovely color, amazing pigmentation. Would definitely repurchase.

Oh how I love my little black eyeshadow! Finally I found THE one. Actually, I found 3 of them, all equally fantastic; Zero being THE one in the category of semi matte. What I like about Zero is just how smoky and satiny matte it looks, and yet how easily it applies. It feels creamy and blends so well. It doesn't have that dry coal feeling like many other matte black e/ss. First layer produces a soft, smoky black, but with some more layering Zero easily turns into a deeper, rich black. I love using it for a smoky eye. It never fails to impress me. Zero looks great in combination with "bare" shades, such as champagne, pink, white and soft gray. (Isadora's eye minerals are perfect for this purpose.)
As with all e/ss I recommend a good primer underneath. This keeps the fall-out non-existent and the colour more durable. I find the price of this product acceptable considering all the money I wasted on other less impressive e/ss. The packaging is really cute and original. This shade is also suitable for vegans. So you see, it's great on so many levels. :) continued >>

wonderful product! it is very versatile: one layer for a sheer gray, a couple more for a dramatic black! the texture is very smooth and a dream to put on, and combined with the primer potion it lasts all day!

I didn't like this product at all. It's not dark enough at all. It's way too sheer and I just don't like it.
