I have some serious trust issues with Photoderm Max Lait SPF 50+. I take care to apply plenty of s/s and to reapply frequently. My daily exposure includes dog walks and short errands. But since using this in the past couple of weeks, I've noticed that I'm getting color on my arms, especially my left arm (driving side). I know this has a very high PPD, but getting any sort of tan from incidental exposure is completely unacceptable to me. (A trial run of this s/s on my face resulted in four new zits, so if you're breakout-prone, I recommend a patch test. Also, I found this a bit too moisturizing for my semi-oily complexion.) I'm going to stick with my all-zinc s/s until I can find a high PPD s/s that works better for me.

This is new and I've just gotten it.
What I like is the smell, the way it doesn't leave any whitish tint or any white even on black clothing. The package is lovely. I totally love when the cap is on the bottom, my favorite! It's light and not anywhere close to oily. It has good moisturising properties and a comforting texture.
BUT it doesn't sink in, it takes 3 to 5 minutes to dry completely. That makes me not really comfortable with it as I'm quite impatient.
I have tried quite a lot of sunscreens, but I haven't found any better than LRP and Bioderma. They're both french and have "light" versions of sunscreens (the only ones I buy cause they dry quicker and don't have that awful oily feeling and look. I still haven't chosen which sunscreens I like more, they're both good quality. Bioderma is cheaper though, but I do tend to fancy LRP more somehow.

After trying many sunscreens and having a lot of problems with chemical ones making me itch and physical ones clogging my pores, I came across Bioderma sunscreens. I tried Mineral, Anti-Age, AR (anti-redness) and the Cream before trying the Lait. They were all good (apart from Mineral) and none of them caused me problems but the Lait is definitely my favourite.
I have dryish/dehydrated skin but found the Cream too heavy. The coloured tint of AR is the only tinted sunscreen that suits my pale NC20 skin but I prefer to use clear sunscreen and foundation. Mineral didn’t clog my pores but I look like a geisha if I wear even less than ¼ teaspoon! Anti-Age is very elegant but it’s difficult to find and the tube is only 30mL. Lait is 100mL for about the same price as the 30mL tubes of other formulations and it’s my favourite texture.
I don’t have any problems with whiteness and once it has sunk into my skin, foundation sits very well on top. I wear it every day and my sensitive skin continues to look better and better as my red acne marks fade and my skin is protected from the sun. My only complaint about the Lait (and all Bioderma sunscreens) is that they are not waterproof or sweat proof.

Love it. You can't beat the protection, and it leaves no white cast or oily film on my acne prone, combination skin. Previous to this I used Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Spf 55, which is a good, cheaper alternative but Photoderm looks and feels better on my skin. I've been using it for a month and it hasn't caused any breakouts. I got it in Paris for 12 euros, a lot cheaper than the $30+ you'd pay if you were to get it online in the US, so if you're in Europe or know somebody who's going, try to get it over there instead!

On paper, perfect in every way. High Spf, highest ppd (35).
On the skin, this feels nice, better than Vichy creme ecran IP60 and pretty much the same as the anti aging spf 30/ppd35 one by bioderma. At first there's a very noticeable whitecast, but that disappears in 10 minutes, after which MAX lait is invisible and feels unnoticeable. Ive had no problems with 'balling' or longevity issues and wear it all day.
The only concern I have is with all the previous reviews telling stories of how using this sunscreen gave them loads of freckles/age spots- indicating that although the bottle says 'ppd35', in practice (which is really what counts), the UVA protection is poor. If true, this counters all the good points of the sunscreen.
To be safe, I wear vichy fresh face spf 30 (which is the only sunscreen ive tried that feels so nice id actually WANT to wear it) with a layer of this on top.
Bit risky, but on paper, the pinnacle of high protection sunscreens- cheap, feels nice, looks good, high ppd.

I have struggled with melasma for 4 years after being placed on a thyroid medication. I used to use Anthelios until I discovered the Photoderm Max.. I LOVE it! I mix it with the Photoderm Max tint and it provides wonderful sun protection as well as a light natural foundation wash. I live in a dry climate so it is nice, however when I travel to humid climates I add a sheer dusting of mineral powder (preferably with SPF). I know this is great stuff because it also keeps me from getting red when I bike and when I scuba!~ I also use Retin A and Hydroquinone.
For melasma sufferers- this is a must!

I have to thank a fellow MUA member for recommending this sunscreen! I have extremely sensitive skin and I am very chemically sensitive in general. In the past I've had bad reactions to chemical sunscreen, for example Neutrogena sunscreens give me a terrible headache (it took me a while to figure out it was the ss and not just overheating). Others have given me red bumps and/or rashes or simply burn like crazy ad sting my eyes. So for a few years I have only used physical-only ss. However, I spend many hours outdoors in the sun riding horses on weekends. I have fair skin and freckles and I am concerned I was getting too much UVA (I want to stay young-looking for my age!)
So I bought 3 tubes of this online and I am glad I did. I've used it several times now, and I have had no bad reaction, absolutely no tingling, burning or stinging, redness or other reactions. It goes on a funny purplish-white cast but soaks in after about 15 minutes it's invisible. It feels neither drying nor particularly moisturizing, I apply over moisturizer. I applies very smoothly. And it offers SPF 50+/PPD35 hard to beat that kind of protection!
My only complaint is that it contains a bunch of chemicals I try to avoid, including parabens, propylene glycol, and cyclomethicone. Bad for the environment and probably bad for me... but so is too much sun.
So, I wear this product when I know I will be in the sun and wash off when I get home, and I stick to my all natural/physical MyChelle Sunshield SPF 28 for weekday wear since I work indoors and only have a 20 minute drive to work.
I can highly recommend this sunscreen to anyone with very sensitive skin tending towards dryness, but I think it would also work great for oily-skinned people since it's not greasy.
Also, I got 3 100ml tubes for $55 USD including shipping, from leguidesante.co.uk and it took less than weeks for my order to arrive.

I purchased the new formulation a month ago (www.leguidesante.com)and let it sit on my counter while I was using all my other sunscreens (LRP Anthelios XL Lait 50+, Cellex-C Sun Care SPF 30+, Shiseido SPF 50+++ Lotion, and Solbar Zinc SPF 38). While the Shiseido gave me a horrible local edema on my face (I pretty much had a moonface and thought it was my weight when it was really the Shiseido ingredients that my skin became allergic to since using Retin-A and Tazorac) for the entire 6 months (I found out my face wasn't moon shaped after I stopped using it), I decided I needed something that was light and fragrance-free.
The LRP Anthelios, Cellex-C Sun Care, and Solbar Zinc were not at all cosmetically elegant. My skin is extremely oily and even loose powder did not help the tackiness. In fact the products made the loose powder build up and look like a mask.
A couple of days ago, I reached for the Bioderma ss and smeared it on my face. It was matte and didn't allow my skin to become too oily over the course of the day. The biggest pro is that my face didn't have a reaction to it. In the hot Texas weather, I didn't get any darker. Just a pea size is good enough to spread on face and neck and wait about 20 minutes to settle into the skin. You can powder over it and it looks perfect. It does give a slight whitish cast but it's not as dramatic as LRP Anthelios Lait and it really is so much better than LRP dermo-peds 40 and Bioderma Photoderm Max Fluid because these were also tacky after application. I highly recommend this product. I will update in a month to determine the full effects and see if I get an allergic reaction.

Well. I am really unsure how I feel about this sunscreen. I am using the lastest version, which is the one without MBC and with alcohol. This has a minor white cast, easily fixed with powder or bronzer or self-tanner. It dries pretty matte. It has good staying power and a labeled ppd of 35. Now, I used it over Memorial Day weekend taking the family to the pool. I did not lay out in the sun, wore a hat, and was mostly in the shade since the pool was not heated and nobody could stand to get into the 68 fdegree water. The next day, I noticed my melasma had darkened. I have spent longer time out in direct sunlight with Avene ss on and not had this happen. Also, on both occasions I used this sunscreen I got cystic pimples a day or so afterwards. Update: I think my darkening was due to hormonal causes. I re-tried this sunscreen again before taking a bike ride. Within 15 minutes, it had started to pool up and slide off. I do expect a sunscreen this costly to stay on my face a little longer than that---most of the time a person needs this high of protection it will be hot enough to sweat a little!
