Tudor City Teal <----RECOMMEND! I saw this color on some girls and I found it at my Walmart for .98 cents. This nail polish is pretty streaky and it takes a few coats but the best way to shake any polish is side ways, not up and down as usual. You can avoid bubbles that way, for a smoother finish :) continued >>
I only have one of these polishes in Big Apple Red, but it's one of my favorites. I believe I paid 97 cents for it at my local Walmart. It's really really nice quality for the price, no problems with streaking like I've read in some reviews, but it does seem to chip off easily if I don't top it with a clear coat a couple of times. It's not a thick formula so I do have to use 2-3 coats per nail, but that's not a big issue for me. I plan on buying more of these because I love the price, the colors, and I don't see too much of a difference between these and some of the more high end polishes I've tried.
For the price you pay (2$) this is amazing!!!
I love their colors and they stay on for a good 5-7 days!
NYC makes the best black nail polish I have ever used. It will take 2-4 coats but they dry super fast, and it will not chip, ever. You only have to remove it when regrowth becomes visible.

There's only a dollar or two, so you can't expect much out of these, but many of the colours are pretty good. I have probably over 15 of them (being a huge nail polish junkie). I don't think any of them could get by with just 1 coat, they all need 2-3 but once the coats are on the colours look creamy and shiny. I've never had a problem with them turning my nails yellow, but I would recommend a good base coat anyways because these nail polishes aren't supper long lasting. I usually get them at walmart as they are cheapest there, but they don't keep the colours stocked very well so it's hard to find specific colours some times. I think these polishes are perfect for people who like to change their nail colour often and like to try new colours. If I want a colour that I might use often (like a good nude colour or any essential colours) I buy a better quality brand.
The bad first. This is a thin and streaky formula. Goes on like watercolors. I got it to look passable in two coats (sandwiched between two clear coats of Sally Hansen - I once accidentally dyed my nails yellow by not using a basecoat. Never again.) You just have to squint and look sideways. I believe this is why all the NYC polishes are shimmery - to distract you from the streakyness.
Overall I'm still highly impressed with this $1 ($1!!) nailcolor. I usually hate to do my nails, but this dried before I could f-it up too bad.
The color I picked is a light silver-blue called "cashmere." I think it's quite pretty.

Unfortunately I have found these polishes to be very streaky. Just today I polished my toenails with the fuschia color. Not only does it look a mess because of the streakiness but the color clashes with my skin tone. It's pretty in the bottle though. It's not a bright fuschia it's much more mellow. But it streaks like crazy. I think NYC needs to update the formula of their long wearing polishes.
Last night I used Sally H. Hard as wraps acrylic base coat. 2 coats of NYC long wearing 140 Empire State Blue, 2 coats of NYC in a ny min. qd ($1.97)292 TriBeCa Silver on my tips. And Sally H. Diamond Flash Top coat. Today I've cleaned my stove, shower & washed dishes all without gloves and I HAVE NO CHIPS!! Use a good top coat & wrap your tips. The polishes all seem to be on the sheer/thin side but that's how I like mine. The 'In a NY minute' line does seem to be heavier in the pigment and has a great brush. This line retails for $2. For only $1-$2 for their nail products it's worth trying. If you pay attention to all the polishes in the store, NYC has lots of very close duplicates to much more expensive brands. continued >>

My first blue! And what a blue to start with. I got so many compliments when I had this on you might have thought it hadn’t cost me more than 2 bucks! Definitely a keeper.
I've used these for years, you can't go wrong for the price. Nice colors, relatively long lasting, decent quality. They are so inexpensive, and I would rather get multiple polishes for the price of one Essie polish. Also, New York Color is owned by Sally Hansen. I am a huge Sally Hansen fan as they are good quality drug store polishes, and these are very comparable for less as they are from the same company.
