I love that this has a pump available (I had the liter size) and I also love the smell.
Unfortunately I am highly allergic to most Aveda products as I belatedly realized (having now tried 4 that I am allergic to, I will assume it's most of them). My scalp has angry red legions all over and was itching badly for days and I have been trying to get rid of the red spots for 2 weeks now.
I gave this to my dad and he is happily using it.
It is so odd because I thought that since Aveda is mostly natural etc that it shouldnt do this, because I can use synthetics just fine, like sebastian laminates. Ive heard that sometimes natural/organic products cause the worst allergic reactions in people.

If there is one cosmetic holy grail in my life this is it! My natural hair colour was always quite dull and ashy - this makes it a bit darker, golden and more interesting! I absolutely love this shampoo - I feel like it is very nurishing for my hair as well. I even leave it on the hair a little while before rinsing it off. And with this I only need to wash my hair once or twice a week. I don't want to ever have to use another shampoo ever again!!
I hope Aveda never discontinues it!!!!!!

Eh, I've used better. Drying and doesn't do anything for preserving color that cheaper shampoos can't do (in fact I've used plenty of DS shampoos that work better). Like another Aveda product I tried, I feel like all I'm doing is paying for a nice herbal scent, not good performance. If you're looking to preserve your color look elsewhere.

I really wanted to love this. The Clove Conditioner is my HG. It´s a good shampoo, but no better than Drug Store stuff I´ve used. I had hoped it would deposit a little color, but it doesn´t. I find it makes my scalp itchy after a couple of days of use, and seems to strip my hair, making it hard to comb. I like the smell, but won´t be buying it again for the price of 14.00 Euros.

A horrible highlight job that left me with Big Bird Yellow on medium brown curly hair had to be redone by another salon, and I ended up with Donatella Versace platinum curls. I have an olive complexion, and it just looked slutty. I read the glowing reviews here of Chamomile and Clove, and decided to do the Clove Shampoo with the Camomile Conditioner. I've gotten raves on my hair -- the platinum has been toned to a beautiful honey which looks great against my skin. I didn't notice it drying, but it did make my hair more tangly than usual. I solved that problem by standing directly under the shower head and shampooing "down" the hair shaft, letting it sit for 3 to 5 minutes. The smell is great, the litre size included a pump, and I didn't notice any staining. I wish they hadn't discontinued the 8 oz. size, but the litre will hold me awhile.

I like this shampoo. I has a lovely cherry-almond scent that's not as overpowering as the scent of Aveda's other shampoos, such as Shampure. This lathers up nicely and rinses out clean, but it's gentle (doesn't leave hair squeaky and dried out) and gives my hair great bounce and shine. I love it with the Clove conditioner. Two thumbs up!

This shampoo smells heavenly and does seem to keep the colour deposit from the Clove Conditioner from washing out too quickly. It leaves my hair soft and fluffy but I find I have to use too much product to get a nice lather. Jason Naturals does make a colour depositing shampoo and conditioner for about 1/3 the price and I may give that one a try. However, overall I like this product and would probably buy again.

I really liked this shampoo, it seemed to add subtle highlights to my brunette hair. I'm not sure how much I like the scent, but it lathers up well, and cleansed my hair gently. Would repurchase.

I've only used this once so far (with the clove color conditioner) and so far I love it. Paired with the conditioner I got great evening out of my color. Nice gentle shampoo. Great color. I can't say exactly how much of the color comes from just the shampoo though. I know the majority of the color depositing comes from the conditioner though.

I recently stopped highlighting my brown hair, beacause I was becoming a blonde. This shampoo help deposits color on the blonde ends making them a warm dark honey blonde, and makes my hair so healthy. I love all Aveda products I know there pricey, but so worth it!!!!

I really like this shampoo. Smells great, leaves my fine, silky long hair totally clean and with some body/volume.

The color was nice but for some reason, this made my fine hair more tangled. I actually prefer the Pure-Fume Brilliant. Swapping this one!

This has become my holy grail shampoo since Aveda changed the formula of Shampure shampoo. It's a lovely coffee colour, smells like amaretto, and foams up nicely. It doesn't strip my hair, and leaves it soft and naturally glossy. My hair is dark brown, and this shampoo just gives it nice shine and subtle highlights (I don't use the colour conditioner, but I do notice the difference in my hair if I stop using the shampoo, so there is some colour depositing from it). I just pray that Aveda never decides to change this formula!

this shampoo is approved by paula begoun (if that means anything to you) and that says a lot because she doesnt like most shampoos because they have drying ingredients. clove shampoo detangles great, helps with color and shine, removes all build-up. a little goes a long way. smells great. works lovely in conjuntion with clove conditioner or shampure conditioner. btw, with aveda, buy the larger sizes, its cheaper.

I have always enjoyed the distinctive scent and quality of Aveda's plant-based hair care products, but this shampoo is Simply to Die For. Prior to the invention of this shampoo, I must admit that my morning shower was just another chore to be endured. But now I find that I look forward to showering in anticipation of using my clove shampoo. The smell is fantastic and it has done wonders for my hair. I do not highlight because I think the natural goldish and reddith highlights in my brown hair should not be tampered with, however I find this color-enhancing shampoo (designed for brown hair) to give my hair vibrance, without diminishing any of the natural color. And as always, Aveda leaves my hair shiny and clean. I hope they never stop making this product. Even though I don't really need to, I frequently lather up twice just to indulge a little more in the morning. I couple the shampoo with the conditioner (which actually adds color, rather than just enhancing color) about twice a week. Unfortunately, the conditioner doesn't have such a good smell. And the rest of the week I couple it alternately with the Shampure conditioner and the Styling Currencence (spray-on conditioner).

This stuff doesn't lather and I really didn't notice much difference compared to the price! Not worth the investment!
