a very sticky sunscreen upon application;though i do agree that the spray makes it rather convenient to apply. wont repurchase due to the steep price.

The Avene SPF 50+ Spray was, I believe, reformulated in early 2007, and this is the reformulated version. This is my daily sunscreen. It is a very light liquid, super easy to spread (no balling up at all), however the finished result on your face is extremely shiny and tacky/sticky to the touch. It is shinier than other Avene sunscreens. However, I dab on Arrowroot powder with a blush brush to mattify, which works incredibly well to conquer the shine and tackiness of this s/s.

This is a winner sunblock. Milky liquid that dries fast. Provides serious sun protection. The downside is the spray is sometimes clogged with the product. Oh well, love it still.

It's really expensive for a bottle of sunscreen, $69.90 in Singapore pharmacies, as compared to their emulsions. It's the lightest texture of all, but itself is enough to be use as a moisturiser and sunscreen. Like all avene sunscreens, it's too heavy for my skin, although it's the lightest amongst all. If I use it alone without moisturiser, it would be better.

At first I really liked this but I don't think I would repurchase.
Protection is excellent, I swaer there is no danger of even a hint of a tan when you are wearing this!!
Has a slightly thick consistency and yes is does leave a bit of a white cast, it also feels slightly heavier than other sunscreens. I could feel I had it on.
What really annoyed me was the spray bottle, because of the consistency of the sunscreen it seemed to clog the spray so only a trickle would come out and then once you have furiously sprayed away you end up with a huge spurt, very annoying when you are rushing from car to beach and don't want to burn!!
On saying that is the bottle and white cast a small price to pay for knowing you are protected from the sun rays.
It proved well against the summer Florida Miday sun on my very fair skin.

These are the same general comments as for the other Avene sunscreens I've tried:
I tried several Avene sunscreens last summer. I like that they did not contain any avobenzone (because at the time, I was worried about wearing makeup over avo-containing sunscreens-something I don't worry too much about anymore). I tried the Emulsion SPF 60 (now 50+), the lait SPF 60, and the sprays for both SPF 60 and 40. I really did not see much difference in finish between the different Avene sunscreens I tried.
They are all very sticky in finish. I have combo skin that is oilier in summmer. I powdered over the sunscreens with Dry Flo AF Pure powder (modified cornstarch powder) and this worked during the summer. But once cooler weather hit, the powdering just didn't work anymore: it left a very cakey, obvious powdered look.
Also, the Avenes' all (except the children's versions) have a fairly strong fragrance. Many will not like this. I tolerated it, though would have been happier without it.
I did spend one entire day at an amusement/water park last summer, and applied the Avene SPF 60 Lait all day, at least every two hours. I did not have so much as a faint tan line of any sort by day's end.
Although I said I wouldn't repurchase, I would in a pinch because it does work very well.

I really like this product. It has good stable protection and makes my skin feel really nice with no white cast or clogged pores and I love the smell. It does leave a slight shine to my skin though but a bit of Jurlique Silk Dust helps with this.I use this on the days I'm wearing makeup and La Roche Posay anthelios fluide extreme for makeup free days(my HG)
I prefer the LRP because it leaves me matt all day but this is definately a fav.as well due to the stable sunscreen and the fact it dosent break me out

Pros: Has Tinosorb, no avobenzone, good UVA protection and no stinging/burning, dries to a semi-matte finish. Cons: white cast, very strong fragrance, cost. Can get streaky after a few hours.
This is a very runny sunscreen, I measured out a full 1/4 tsp to use.
The fragrance is very strong, but seems to dissipate quickly after application. With other frgranced products I can smell them on me hours after using, but this just seems to fade away. Raised to 4: Used up 1/2 the bottle on my face and no breakouts..I figured out how to apply it without streaking and it looks OK with a light dusting of mineral makeup over top.
Update: Over the past few months, I have noticed that when I use this sunscreen with mineral makeup over top and for a few days my skin starts looking better...smoother and less clogged pores. It's a subtle difference, like the way my skin usually is if I just don't wear any sunscreen at all. So I'm upping this to a 5 for being the only high PPD sunscreen that absolutely does not irritate my skin or contribute at all to my acne.
UPDATE MAY 2007 : Back to a 3. My new bottle is MUCH shinier than the last one. Unwearable without blotting, which takes away some of the protection. Pity that they had to change the formula---and if they didn't, what a poor quality control process!
