I love the color this has, it's a fuschia (definitely not a violet) with no shimmer that starts out kind of sheer but can easily be built up to a bright color. At the same time it's a pretty natural looking lipstick, it's very similar to the color of my lips but brighter and better.
The formula is pretty good for a dollar, this doesn't feel drying or anything on my lips. It doesn't last a super long time but it's average in staying power.
This is such a good lipstick for being ridiculously cheap. I would recommend it.

I'm on a bit of a lipstick buying kick at the mo. I think I got this for around a £1 on eBay. I've never tried out NYC lipsticks, mostly because all the ones I'd seen were very frosty and pale looking. Grandma style.
The name doesn't really match with the actual shade, as pointed out in previous reviews. Yeah, it's got a hint of purple, but it's nowhere near 'Violet'. It's a berry pink with no frost in sight. It would look great on cool toned girls, like myself. The texture is very nice and it goes on smoothly and evenly. The packaging on the other hand isn't good at all. You just know you're going to end up catching the lipstick on the lid. I think I'd buy it again as I can see it becoming a firm favourite.

Very nice color, not too red, not too pink or light colored.
Goes on smoothly and stays for a decent amount of time.
Smells: Like lipstick

What a great color for a dirt cheap price. On me this is a bright medium cool pink that leans fuchsia if I layer it on thick. My favorite way to wear it though is blotted down, so it looks softer and more natural. It really brightens up your face!

Really flattering MLBB lip shade...it's very moisturizing and sheer, can be built up for full opacity, but I just swipe it on and it gives my lips a natural, muted pink hue with some shine. The packaging is awful, but I plan on putting it into a different empty tube. Really great quality for the money on this one

DH called it 'hot' n said it was the best lip colour he's seen on me ( i use dior, chanel and mac lipsticks btw!) annd that it suited me. For that alone it is worth five stars.
.
A soft pink that is cool toned, not garish but bright, and pretty. Wears okay, not looooong lasting but not bad still. Very cute colour to pair with a greenish smokey eye.

This is about the same shade as my lips knocked up a shade or 2. It's not a pop of color, but it's pretty natural for my lip tone. I love the scent and creamy smooth feel.

This is probably as close to a HG pink lipstick as I have gotten in a while. The color is a medium berry-mauve pink. It goes on slightly sheer with a bit of shine, and DOES moisturize accordingly. It gives just the right amount of color, if you're looking for something pigmented but not in-your-face or garish. I would say it's the best dollar I've spent in a while!

The color is amazingly beautiful. The one thing that I hate about it though is the packaging. When I first opened it, eager to apply, the whole lipstick broke. I don't know if it's because I got a bad stick or something, but that was the ONLY downfall. I probably wont be repurchasing this color, but hopefully another one....

New York Color Violet Shine Lipstick
This is a great lipstick for the price ($0.99)! It is a fuchsia lipstick with a decent color payoff. Since it's a moisturizing formula, it is a little sheer, similar to MAC's lustre finish lipsticks. It's shiny, but not too glossy, and has a slight shimmer. It feels smooth on the lip, and though it isn't as moisturizing as a gloss, it certainly isn't drying or sticky.
The color is pretty, but is nothing super original. Pretty much every brand will have a color similar to this. The color payoff is pretty good, and it shows up nicely on my pigmented lips (I have an NC42 complexion).
The packaging is really basic, but since it only cost $0.99, I really don't mind.
The thing that bugs me the most is the name. It's called Violet Shine, and in my mind, violet is purple, not pink. A more appropriate name would be Fuchsia shine.

I did not like this lipstick at all. =( It's not only cheap, but is wack! .
Never buy again!! You pay for what you get. I have tried other products from this brand. But this lipstick is ok

A pretty good basic pink lipstick, and a steal at $0.99. Unfortunately, it turned fuschia on me, so I gave it away.

This is my holy grail natural pink lipstick. I am generally a chapstick girl, but every so often I see the model or actress in some magazine with the perfect shade of pink lipstick, you know the seductively berry bitten, almost your lips but better color, and end up buying a tube of pink lipstick and being disappointed with it. I am pale, and almost every pink I have tried looks garish and definitely NOT natural. I bought this lipstick on a complete whim one day while in Target as it was only 98 cents. The color, consistency and shine are exactly what I have been looking for. It is not a super long lasting lipstick, as it really isn't a deep color, but it lasts a respectable time, and for the price you can apply as much as you want. The packaging is cheap, but they obviously cant offer everything for under a dollar. I will be purchasing in multiples.

This is a nice pretty lipstick that's fun to use. It gives me a refined chic cool look. Definately a lipstick I would wear casually everyday.

A great buy! This lipstick is not too bright, but still lights up the face. It doesn't stay on for long, probably around 45 minutes to an hour, max, but it's fun and flattering. And for such a great price, it would be hard to beat!

I love this color. For such a cheap lipstick, it really is quality. It's the perfect shade of pink for me.
Violet Shine is more pinky than violet, but nevertheless, a gorgeous color. It's very moisturizing and can easily stand on its own, though looks stunning with a clear sparkly gloss.
The packaging isn't the greatest...but it's under $2! I think for such a great lipstick at that price, packaging can be sacrificed.
Would definitely rebuy.

I can't even begin to describe my love for this lipstick. It's absolutely the perfect pink shade for me, my lips but slightly better, and with a bluish undertone that makes your teeth look whiter.
The consistency is smooth, and the application is pretty sheer, but it lasts a decent amount of time and for some reason (and maybe because this is such a good match for my lips) it makes your lips look fuller and plumper.
All this for under $2. I love love love this. Definitely buying backups, especially since the packaging kind of sucks, so I can see this one breaking if I'm too rough with the tube.

It's a very nice wearable pink color. It's an everyday casual lipstick. This was only 99 cents plus it was BOGO so I got 2 colors and it came out to 50 cents each...you cannot beat this price.
