I was at Macy's and saw the Baked and Beautiful kit....it comes with the Balance-n-Bronze - regular
I was thrilled to find this kit. I have been dying to try the balance n bronze. It only came in the regular/medium which worried me since I tend to be a bit on the light side when not using self tanners, but it looks great. I currently use the barely there tinted moisturizer in light, a little concealer and I have been putting the balance side of this product all over my face. It gives me the extra coverage that I dont get from the tinted moisturizer and it gives a really nice matte finish. I use the bronze side for some contouring.
The only thing that I don't really care for is that it is a split compact. Its a bit hard to only get the balance product on your brush without picking up the bronze as well. The brush that came with the kit fits just fine on either half of the compact, but i am partial to a bigger brush when it comes to applying powders.
But that being said....I love it and will definately buy more when it runs out :)
I bought this because I love both the bronzer and foundation, but likes others have stated- it is very difficult to pick up *just* the bronzer or *just* the foundation. I need to use a big fluffy brush for application so I don't pick up too much powder, but you'd need to use a smaller brush for this compact.
While I don't dislike this product, I found it just to be "ok"- fine for putting on something quick before running out of the house, but I think it was too orange-y on me, or didn't have the finish I wanted. I like foundations w. a little more coverage, and maybe a dewier appearance. I like BE more.
This is my go to makeup to get out of the house fast. I just brush over the whole thing, tap & apply. Look's good, feel's good, does what I need it to do. Can spot apply any of the colors for eyes & cheeks.Just add lipstick & sunglasses & go. Great for older skin. continued >>
I'm really fair and quite neutral to slightly warm, and this is just too pink for me to try to get away with as a foundation, which is what they promoted it as on QVC. I received this with the "Kiss & Bake up" set. I debated sending it back as this provides absolutely NO coverage, but this actually works well as a contour shade on the sides of my nose and under my chin. I like it for that and am really keeping the set for the lip compact and blush. I would not buy this particular product again. continued >>
This product was my first experience with Laura Gellar makeup. I was at Sephora this weekend, looking for a shimmery bronzer that would warm up my extremely fair (N4/NW20) skin without looking orange. I originally had my heart set on Laura Gellar's new Sunswept compact, which seemed to be exactly what I was looking for. However, since Sunswept was out of stock and I was impatient for a bronzer, I settled on this one, thinking that since it was split into half bronzer, half balancing foundation it would be suitable for my pale skin. But to my dismay, after hurriedly trying it on in the car and at home, this was just way too dark for me. Even when I just barely sweep my brush into the compact and apply on the apples of my cheeks and my forehead, it's just too much for me. Another factor of this bronzer that I wasn't too psyched about was that it has no noticeable shimmer, which is not to say that I want to look like a disco ball, I just prefer a bit of glow over the muddy look that matte bronzers tend to have on me. Now, another person with a darker complexion or a preference for matte bronzers might find this one to be a treat, but I was sorely disappointed. Back to Sephora with this one.
Balance n Bronze combines two full size LG products into 1 split compact. You get one half Balance n Brighten and one half Bronze n Brighten.
Balance n Brighten is my HG powder foundation that I wear every single day. I've never tried Bronze n Brighten. I thought that combining my fav foundation with a bronzer might keep the bronzer from overwhelming my PPP (NW15) complexion. Except, that isn't quite what happened ...
I can't speak for the bronzer portion of this product, but I can say that the Balance n Brighten half just doesn't deliver as well as the full size version. The split compact didn't have as much color variation (this is a swirled, baked product) as the full size. Also, the coverage wasn't quite as good as the full size.
The bronzer was nice, as far as bronzers go. Swirling the bronzer with the Balance n Brighten side of the pan created a color that didn't give enough ooomph for my liking.
Overall, I think Balance n Bronze split compact is a miss. Instead of combining two great products into one awesome product, the split compact seems to diminish what I love so much about the full size version. I adore Balance n Brighten and will continue to use that every day. Unfortunately, Balance n Bronze is on its way back to Sephora and I've no intention of repurchasing.
This is a poorly designed compact (difficult to use the colors individually), and the colors are muddy and hard to blend. The swirled, baked design looks pretty, but it's just a gimmick, and that's all that Sephora obviously cared about when recently adding this line (and, disappointingly, this line is almost entirely designed for warm-toned skin). Judging from my local Sephora, it looks like Laura Geller replaces Paul Dorf, which is not a change for the better.
I looked forward in anticipation to receive this having ordered it from QVC. I'd considered the balance 'n' brighten but when I saw this I thought it would be a good way to try this and the bronze. however the balance side was mostly a tan colour with very little light or yellow bits and the bronze was nearly all dark brown with one tiny speck of pink. I guess these swirly patterned things only work if there's enough room to get enough balance of the different tones but this does not allow it.
the balance and brighten just came out 'tan' with no brighten. I am medium beige with yellow undertone so it should have been fine. Packaging quite cheap nothing special. The baby kabuki brush that came with it was a neat idea and I liked the 'case' but the brush itself was very synthetic and too hard - it took too much product off and didn't blend well at all. In the UK we pay a LOT for this. £23 plus P&P. at least I can send it back so don't waste all my money. 1 lippy for the concept. continued >>
Ok...I liked this product at first, so simple, a foundation and bronzer in one compact, how convenient. I had no issues using either side alone or together, and I do like the coverge the foundation side gave, but use too much of the bronzer and I looked muddy. I am a NW30 for referrence. Also, what really turned me off to this product was that it is NOT suitable for warmer climates. I live in AZ, and in the summer if you step outside to walk to your car, you sweat. Well, I did just that, not profusely, but I could feel the sweat bead down the side of my face on my cheek, and to my HORROR I looked in the mirror, and my sweat literally left a path on my face through this foundation/bronzer. I could actually see where I had sweated, and this is unacceptable. I can only imagine if I got caught in a rain storm or a drizzle for that matter. Very disappointed, bought it off QVC so my return time was up...I ended up dumping it in the trash. What a waste!!
