A friend's mother suggested this as a Christmas gift and I tried some when I was in the store. I love the smell, however it smells like something really yummy that you'd like to eat, which is not a scent I want to wear. The lotion is nice though, very thick and moisturizing, I would try another of their body butters in a different scent.

I bought this when I was braving my first Chicago winter (I'm from a really humid city in Australia). I found this body butter more moisturising that most moisturisers, but was not impressed with it. The Strawberry, Olive, Mango, Moringa, Brazil Nut are far more moisturising. Smell is lovely though and I was stoked with the price. I picked up a tub for $10USD where it would be closer to $30USD in my home town - so for that it gets extra marks :)

my first time buying vanilla spice and i was thinking it would smell very sweet like burnt sugar with a little spicy kick to it, but its totally different, its such a toned down vanilla scent, but i love it! a fall favorite body butter! if you want a sweet sugary body cream try bath and body works vanilla bean noel!

This smell is very unique. I love it, it lasts a while and moisturizes well. My mom doesn't like the smell but my brother said it was good. haha so goes to show how the scent will vary amongst people, but idc cuz I think it smells great!

I LOVE this body butter! My brother got me a holiday gift set this winter which included this butter, the Cranberry Joy body butter, and corresponding scents in an exfoliating soap. I was so proud of his pick :) I have found this body butter to be just the ticket for my awful, dry winter-y skin. I apply it after my shower and sometimes before I get dressed in the morning and I think it has really improved the hydration of my skin. I like the fact that it scoops out of a tub and has a really thick consistency--again perfect for winter skin. I have also enjoyed the smell surprisingly enough as I tend not to be a fan of sweet food scents. This vanilla isn't a cloying, little girl, overly sweet scent and it does have a slight spicy quality to it that I am really enjoying. I will definitely be purchasing more body butters once I run out of these two minis. They might be my favorite body lotion to date!

I adore the scent of this line! Vanilla is always nice but can get a bit boring, so the spices in this makes it interesting again. I'd rather buy a small container though, as the scent is very strong and special, so you do tire of it after a while. It moisturizes as well as any body butter.

I generally don't care for perfumed body butters. Being a big fragrance junkie, I don't like body lotions to compete with the fragrances I wear each day so tend to go for unscented moisturizing products. That said, every once in a while I'll buy a Body Shop body butter to do double duty of moisturizing and fragrance. I bought and tried this maybe once a year ago and put it away and forgot about it. Well after my bath the other night, I pulled it out and gave my arms, legs and upper chest a slight layer. I found the scent very holiday like, spicy and warm and very fragrant. Nice to go to sleep smelling something so pleasant knowing my body is getting some moisturizing. That said, it's too strong a scent for me for deep moisturizing that comes with really slathering on a body butter. So I will leave this for days I want to only smell like this body butter. It's also great for travel as a way to get some fragrance and moisturizing in one product.

I got this for Christmas last year and barely used it because I had many other butters on the go at the time. I just rediscovered this product and totally forgot how great it smelled! Smells like fall and Christmas scents. Its very moisturizing and glides on the skin nicely. Its a butter form but slightly creamier than others I've used and it makes for a smoother application on the skin!
I just read on this website that there's lip gloss, shower gel and all other kinds of products in this scent so I'll be heading to the body shop to check out the other products and get me another couple of tubs of this stuff to last me through the year!

Wa wa wee wa !! Can you say: "FAVORITE PRODUCT EVER?!" I feel like eating my hand after I put this stuff on. My friend passed it onto me and I think shes crazy for doing so! lol. I tried this and I immediately fell in love. After doing some research, I was sad to find that this is a seasonal buy. I can always buy on ebay.. but once winter his.. Im crossing my fingers and heading to the body shop for more!
Like many other products, the scent specified on the lid (vanilla spice) is nothing like the product. I think thats why people are thrown off.. they expect to get this enticing vanilla smell but its nothing like vanilla. The smell is of pumpkin, nutmeg, ginger and cinnamon.
To some its not so obvious however this is almost common sense to me.. if its not settling into your skin.. dont use so much! This is a body BUTTER, not a regular lotion. Dont pile it on, especially if you dont have dry skin - and then complain about it. Use in moderation. Thats the beauty of this product.. a little bit goes a long way!

I bought this because I LOVE the shower gel in this scent. However, after using the body butter, I realized they smell differently. There's a very noticeable bitter note in this that almost ruined it for me, but after a while it dissipates and you're left with a pleasant and unique aroma. I'm not blown away by this body butter. It's not "protective" enough and is way overpriced. The consistency was a bit on the wet side. (I like BBWs drier formula much better). Since this is a body butter, I was expecting something that really moisturized my skin but this was on the level of a lotion. I've found much better butters at discount chain stores for $4.

I had my eyes on this for a couple of weeks and finally got it as a present yesterday from somone who was kind enough to notice. I used it for the very first time about a couple of hours ago, so it may be a little too early to tell, but I was impressed so I'll write down my thoughts anyway and update if needed.
Well I've stayed away from the Body Shop body butters so far because I am not a fan of greasy body creams; however this one, though thick and rich, did not leave me sticky or greasy. The consistency of this is somehow lighter than you would expect for a cream this thick; it slides on the skin nicely and feels luxurious and pampering. The scent is divine, strong and rich. It seems to linger; I still smell it on me and it feels amazing. I detect much more cinnamon than vanilla. It's a sweet, warm and cozy scent, perfect for cold, winter days. It smells exactly like the Christmas cinnamon and ginger biscuits I got from IKEA - which by the way I also strongly recommend :-). As for moisturising, it certainly does that too: my skin feels soft and velvety now.
On the downside, at € 17,50 I find it overpriced, which is one of the reasons I'm not a big fan of The Body Shop in general; many of the products - though not all - are priced as if TBS were a luxury brand, which isn't really the case, is it? However this cream makes me so happy, that I plan to get it again myself next Christmas.
If you are a fan of sweet, warm, foody scents I think you will love this. It's an awesome treat for the senses.
*U P D A T E* A couple of days later, I'm growing fonder and fonder of this cream. I'd only like to add three things; first, it is now bf approved; he totally loved it. Second, it does linger girls, and it lingers a lot. It will probably interfere with your perfume, but with this on, why wear perfume at all? It's just as good. Third, it's the perfect cold weather cream; I kind of feel it form a protective layer on my skin.
Bottom line, if you like the scent go out and invest!!

This is a really good moisturizer, as all Body Shop butters are, and will leave you skin soft and dewy. I personally like the smell. I'm quite sensitive to perfumes but this has never bothered me - once it melts into your skin it smells like sweet spicy vanilla perfect for the holidays albeit certainly stronger than some of the usual "flavours" like nut, shea etc. The reason I wouldn't repurchase this cream is because it tastes awful. Now before you start imagining me with a spoon, eating a tub of this stuff for breakfast, allow me to explain. After using this product, despite washing my hands thoroughly (more than once), I could taste it when I licked my fingers. No other body butter has this horribly bitter taste. Normally not a problem I suppose... but I have a bunny that likes to give kisses and anyone who touches skin that has been slathered in this stuff will have bitter tasting fingers. If you have kids or pets that lick, DO NOT get this. Otherwise, enjoy.

I got this in the summer when it was BOGO online so I was anxious to try it when it got close to the holidays. I wasn't sure what to think at first; it definitely wasn't what I expected - not tremendously vanilla, at least not to me. But now I really love it and find the spice scent addicting! And this is a nice creamy texture that is somewhat lighter than TBS's other - more lard type - body butters. I do use kind of a light hand when applying because it's a bit strong but I find now that I can't stop sniffing myself when I use this! Perfect for Christmas.

What is obnoxious is that children are allowed to review on MUA. It's a free country, so whatever. This does not smell incredibly strong, some people are scent sensitive and that is probably why some react that way. It smells good, like the holidays. It's a spicy vanilla, almost a gingerbread scent. I bought two because it was buy one get one free on sale. The amber was sold out because on black Friday they were $5. I like the vanilla spice more. The ingredients are clearly listed on the back, it's full of oils and shea butter, best for dry to very dry skin. Not overly greasy at all, just gives skin a glow. That's what most body butters are for, since lotion doesn't work well enough. Update: I now use this just in the fall and winter. It lasts all day! So I can't use a perfume with it. In the warmer weather it's too strong, but the cool weather makes it smell so good.

Let me begin by saying that I wanted very much to like this body butter. I'd read lots about the 'limited edition' pieces from the holiday collection at the Body Shop, and a nice, festive body butter never hurt anyone! Granted, these tubs are $20 for something that doesn't even last long, but I digress. I went in today and smelled Vanilla Spice and the new Warm Amber (yum!)
Tragically, this smells like a steaming pile of crap. You know, that's had Aquolina Pink Sugar and Eggnog poured all over it. Don't get me wrong, I adore eggnog (pink sugar, not at all). But this is *overpowering.* Please DO NOT subject people to this scent if you will be in an elevator or cubicle with them. It will make people sick to their stomach, especially those who are sensitive to fragrance. This scent is so. strong. it. is. unbelievable. No one needs to announce their presence before they've even entered a room with their fragrance. This is obnoxious. Ew.

Yes and yes and yes!As long as The body Shop keeps making this scent i will buy and buy and buy!
The Vanilla Spice range came out in 2005 as part of the seasonal collection along with Cranberry and Candied Citrus for that year.It proved such a success that ever since it keeps returning.
What i like most is the scent.I love spicy scents and i like vanilla, but the combination of more spice and less vanilla is just amazing. It starts spicy and warm, notes of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, orange peel, a little pepper-y, cloves and a touch of vanilla, evolving into a creamier dry down where the vanilla becomes more predominant.
Every year there are slight scent variations, which make it unique, but i prefer this years formula, where the spiciness is just right!
Formulated without any artificial preservatives, this butter moisturizes even very dry skin perfectly, smoothes and softens lastingly and leaves skin with a fab glow, without being overly greasy.
Even though i stock up big time on this one (maybe the fear of it being disc...) and use it al year long, i anxiously await it every year, since it starts the xmas season, and the whole year ahead.
IMO, the best scented body butter from The Body Shop, and my personal all-time favorite!
Ingredients:
Aqua, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, Glycine Soja Oil, Cyclopentasiloxane, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Lanolin Alcohol, Orbignya Oleifera Oil, Sesamum Indicum Oil, Theobroma Cacao Butter, Parfum, Phenethyl Alcohol, Caprylyl Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Butylene Glycol, Linalool, Disodium EDTA, Limonene, Tocopherol, Coumarin, Benzyl Salicylate, Hexyl Cinnamal, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Sodium Hydroxide, Vanilla Planifolia extract, Citronellol, Geraniol, Caramel, CI 19140.
EDIT:My biggest fear has come true. After 4 years in a row and after being The Body Shop's best seller, even beating classic Cranberry, it's gone, this year we will see Merry Cranberry,Black Velvet Apricot and Nutmeg & Vanilla.Thank god i stocked up last year, and even though i hope the new one will be similar i doubt it.I just wish it comes back sometime in the future.:( It wont be the same this Xmas without it...
EDIT: I RECENTLY LEARNT THAT THE BODY SHOP IS BRINGING VANILLA SPICE BACK THIS SEASON.THEY SAY THAT IT WILL BE SOMETHING IN BETWEEN VANILLA SPICE AND VERY VANILLA.
I'M NOT GETTING MY HOPES HIGH AS LAST YEARS VESION WAS A COMPLETE DISASTER, BUT LETS WAIT AND SEE WHAT THEY HAVE IN STORE FOR US.LET'S HOPE IS THE ORIGINAL!
FINGERS CROSSED! continued >>

I can't believe this body butter is not more highly rated. I know fragrances particularly are very personal but this is one of my favorite body moisturizers, ever. And I am a body lotion/butter junkie. I love that this butter is very moisturizing so you only need a little bit to moisturize. That makes the high price tag a bit easier to accept. But what I love most about this product is its smell. It reminds me of cinnamon cookies. It has a good staying power but is not overwhelming. This is only available during the holidays but I cherish it throughout the year.

A very xmas smell. I like the smell but im not sure its the type of scent one would wear. It does smell like a nice xmas candle or pot pourri. The texture is very sloppy but it moisturises ok.

This scent is terrible. It smells like a super strong cheap candle. It has an overpowering spice smell. I still gave it a 2 because I am sure that it moisturizes well.
I am a great fan of TBS's body butters (BB), just not this scent.
I used Pomegranate all summer, and now I am back to my old favorite Brazil Nut. I also got a sample of the new Warm Amber BB, and really like it. I bought the Warm Amber home fragrance oil - soooo good!! This scent is not listed on the MA website yet.
