I got this (it's called Lavender Luminosity now), and while it isn't breaking me out (yay), and it does a good job of cleansing and does smell nice...it is leaving my old post acne marks darker than before, and my skin looks, well, less "luminous" for it. I will be using this up in the shower as body wash, but for my face, I'm trying their Vitamin C cleanser. As far as Avalon goes, I generally like their products as they don't irritate me and the fragrances tend to be natural. I'd recommend this to those who like lavender on the face and respond well to it. For me, I'm going to pass on this. It seems counter intuitive to my vitamin C serum and the lemon juice I'm using to brighten.

I have combination/sensitive skin and this is one of the best cleansers I've tried. It keeps the oiliness at bay while calming down my redness. It smells wonderful, too! I will definitely continue to use this cleanser.

I tried it out as my morning cleanser instead of Cetaphil and it was okay but then it started to irritate my skin a little. When I would wash it off, my skin would feel a little raw and tender, even though the cleanser itself didn't really feel too harsh, nor was I washing very hard.
Perhaps it was just some ingredient that did not react well with my skin, but it didn't work out for me.

So I thought I'd give this a try because it was natural and organic and I figured that should be great for the face right?Wrong. Not all organic, natural ingredients are great for the skin..Like fellow mua user unaversal pointed out, lavender does cause pigmentation and acne marks to linger..not only that, ive read that lavender irritates the skin as well..which I've found to be true..This product just burned my skin and I dont have sensitive skin at all.. It cleaned the skin okay but Im far better off with something gentler..

I've been using this for 6 months now and have been very happy with it. I love the lavender smell. It cleans makeup off no worries. Leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean with no residue. I havent had any problems with breakouts or adverse reactions. The formula is not a real 'foamer', just light lather and it doesnt sting your eyes at all which is a good sign! I don't find it drying at all. The pump pack is fine for the shower, but annoying if you want to take it anywhere as the lock off is impossible to activate without squirting half the stuff everywhere. Costs $11.95AU which, for a totally natural product, is very reasonable.
I think this is a very good product.

This product did exactly the opposite of what it claims. My skin became very irritated after a couple of washes.

Be warned ladies! just researched that lavender causes pigmentation. ie. brown spots, acne marks to linger. I haven't used this long enough to test it out, but why take the chance and risk damage to the skin. I'm returning this and the search for a cleanser that cleans effectively without won't drying out the skin or causing breakouts continues.
here's the link to the lavender causing pigmentation thread.

Several other reviewers complained about the cleanser drying their skin out. Well, the bottle states it is for Normal-Oily skin. Don't use if you have any doubts about your skin type.
I like the product because it cleans very well, has a nice soft lather, and I especially like the pump dispenser. In summer it is ideal, and in winter I will use it at night only. I like the scent but some might not. I don't like citrus smells, others do. Just a matter of taste.
Yes, it is drying if you overdo it. So use a good moisturiser immediately, and I skip the toner because it is too much. But if you have an oily skin that is also sensitive, and you can tolerate foaming cleansers, this is a good choice.

When I first tried this product, I was surprised at soapy it smelled and the way it lathered, but afterwards, my face still felt really clean and well-balanced without any tightness or dryness. I think this is great for summer months and not more than once a day, if that. Then again, I'm opposed to using any cleanser more than once I day....it will of course be drying if you do. I like this for when I'm wearing more makeup then usual or if its been a particularly hot day and I've been around a lot and my face is grimy. It also definitely wasn't irritating at all. Would definitely repurchase, especially on sale.

I live in Moscow and tried this stuff. It's awful. It dries the skin and makes it look grey and no fresh!

I used this product for about 3-4 weeks. When I first started using this I thought it was a great product. It really cleansed and removed my eye make. I thought I finally found a store brand and it is found in my local grocery store...no more speacial trips to the health food stores.
Anyway, after about 2-3 weeks I noticed my face started to feel really dry, so I cut back from using this cleanser from 2x a day to just 1 (at night) The condition continued, I finally had to stop. I also started to notice when I used this my face would get really itchy; I'm sure from the dryness...eventually I broke out and my face got really flakey. So, needless to say this didn't work out so well for me.

I've used this facial cleansing gel for a few years now, and couldn't easily do without it. It cleans my oily skin well without irritating, and the scent is relaxing. I also use it in the shower on my neck & chest areas, which tend to be sensitive. Rinses clean, which I like. Would be a little drying if you don't moisturize the dry areas afterward. I stock up when it's on sale at Wild Oats. continued >>

Leaves my skin very smooth and feels clean without drying my face out or irritating it. Also removes any traces of makeup easily. Not a big fan of the smell, but who cares, my skin loves this stuff. HG!

I've been trying out new cleansers for awhile now in my quest to find an SLS-free one, however this is not for me. I really really liked the price though. It didn't dry me out, but I noticed awhile after using it that my cheeks were getting red - I am hypersensitive. I immediately cleansed again with my normal Cetaphil and my skin went back to normal.

Sigh. I miss this stuff. When I finished the bottle i switched to St. Ives medicated apricot scrub. UGHH. It was soo harsh on my skin and made me break out. sighsighsigh. Anyways, enough depressing stuff; I really want to buy this again. I love it. As long as you have a moisturizer for after (I like facial oil), then you are sooo in the boat for this one. I only wash my face once a day (or try to) so i don't strip its natural properties too much. This is awesome before bed though and I honestly love it soso much. My skin was so clear when I used this and I actually liked looking at my skin in the mirror under fluorescent lights! What a shock! Anyways, it's never a bad thing to give it a try. I personally adore the scent. It's so natural and perky.

I'm into organic skin care now. Avalon Skincare is very easy on wallet, gentle, easily available in Health Food shop.
I paid about S$15+ for this cleanser. This is very gentle on my acne-prone/dehydrated skin. Love the idea of (The cleanest, safest, purest ingredients, without pore-clogging mineral oil, petrolatum or propylene glycol. These products are also free of parabens, artificial colors and synthetic fragrances) The smell maybe too strong for people who hate Lavender. I am also using Lavender Cleansing Milk, Lavender Hydrating Toner, Lavender Daily Moisturizer and Lavender Scrub together with Tea Tree Oil for my blemishes. Works great for my skin.

I bought this cleanser when I'd forgotten to bring my own on an overnight trip, and was pleasantly surprised. No breakouts, and redness on my face was noticeably subdued. Once we get into the fall & winter months I'll probably switch to the cleansing lotion to avoid drying my face out. For the summer months, this is perfect. continued >>

This is by no means a bad product in my opinion, but I find it to be drying, even to my oily skin. Here's the deal: Sometimes I use one of the Shiseido sunscreens during the day. In the evening, I have to use an oil to dissolve it. So I follow that with a foaming wash like this one. So even with all of the oil on my face, this still manages to dry my skin out a bit, especially in the cheek and shin and neck areas. It's not terrible, but enough to make me feel a bit uncomfortable about repeat usage. I should mention that, although I am oily, I'm also using retin-A which predisposes my face to more extremes in the way of dryness. Nice true lavendar scent, the ingredients appear to be nice, just the dryness that gives me any issue with it.

I have rosacea and like organic products, so I gave this a shot. One reason I like it is that it really takes makeup off, including my Great Lash mascara. I only use it at night, to remove makeup, because I think if I used it more often it would dry my skin out. It appears to be formulated for skin that is more oily than mine (mine is combination). It comes in a pump bottle, which I like, and it lathers, which I also like. I will continue buying it in order to remove my makeup, and to support an organic product. I am not really nuts about the lavender fragrance, but it doesn't linger.
