I received a sample of this in a swap. I've tried close to a hundred different vanilla fragrances, and this definitely goes into the Sickly Sweet camp for me. Very sweet, simple scent. It reminds me of Tihota and La Maison, and I'm definitely not a fan.

This is a floral vanilla very much like Italian vanillas, ie:Perlier and Erbolario to name a couple, and I cannot stomach it. There is something wet, sweet and nauseating about this fragrance. Lasting power is phenomenal.

I bought mine a few years ago and I tend to only wear it in fall/winter. It smells like vanilla cookies, a bit too sweet I think. It seems it has now been d/c'd but C&E still carries the Vanilla Duo (body lotion and shower gel) so I might consider that in the future. continued >>

When I was a college student on a budget doing a semester abroad in Scotland, this was my fragrance. I could buy it at the local drugstore for a reasonable price, and I found it to be one of the few non-foody, unique vanilla fragrances around at the time. It's a little too sweet for my tastes now so I don't plan to purchase it again, but I was sorry to see it being discontinued a couple of years ago. Hopefully they'll bring it back. In the meantime, if you're looking for a similar scent you might like C.O. Bigelow's Vanilla Perfume Oil.

My favorite Crabtree & Evelyn scent. This is an orchid vanilla scent which is different from the foody smelling vanilla. I have been using the same bottle since 2001 and the scent is still strong (not overpowering) and lasting. I have noticed that they have scaled back the vanilla line quite a bit so I am not sure if this product is due to be discontinued soon. Shame if it is, because it is a lovely perfume. continued >>

I love this vanilla, but frankly I only wear it when I'm alone. I like to wear it to sleep. Once when I wore it out, I had a man say to me, "Have you been baking?" It's a great vanilla, but it does smell like food.

I have been trying to track down a bottle of this as I really like the shower gel I bought from Marshall's. I just spoke with a girl at one of their outlets and she said they are bringing back some of the old Crabtree favorites including the vanilla under their 'Heritage' line. It will be in their regular stores by the end of this month and then a few months from now will be available through the outlets. We shall see, I'm dying for a bottle!

This is the very best vanilla fragrance that I've used. It is not cloying at all which I find with other vanillas. When I wear it my children always tell me, "mommy, you smell so good"
I'm so dissapointed they are not carrying it anymore. I'm hoping for a come back.

An excellent floral vanilla that is woefully relegated to non-chic, non-trendy status, for reasons ridiculous in the pursuit of the latest and greatest hype-hoo-rah. I've recently rediscovered this, having found some of the lotion for five dollars at a TJMaxx, and had forgotten how good this is. I wore it for some time back in 1998, after L'Occitane discontinued its Vanille Bourbon and I was on the howl for a replacement (before liftoff of the ubiqitous vanilla craze). My only gripe was that it just doesn't last all that long, but that doesn't mean much when this complaint can likewise be lodged at any number of far more expensive competitors. I don't particularly seek out floral vanillas, with a notable exception in Addict, and find many of them mute the fact that vanilla is even present. In this product you would be hard pressed to note vanilla if you are of the Starbucks persuasion; this is not a syrup, nor something you'd likely reference with pancakes or condensed milk or cotton candy. A perfect summer vanilla that is more pod/flower than dough, it has the wonderful quality of not being plasticky in the least. It is light, but present; sweet without being clammy. Neither obviously floral nor gourmand, it executes a perfect balance between the softness of the floral and the fresh-pod vanilla, with neither swamping the other. It's a shame that it hasn't claimed a greater audience, and I feel that with another logo on it it would grab some market share from various "eaux," "timide," "legere," and "fraiche" confusions that grab up shelf space. Crabtree do have some decent products that for some reason fly under the radar, I suppose because they aren't the objects of hype and cult cravings, don't have the hyper-loud advertising screaming out from every gaudy marketing campaign, and seem to brand themselves as a bit carriage-tradey. Shame, that, because there are some finds in this wood-paneled shop that are well worth seeking out.

I really love this vanilla. It is unique and very distinguishable from other vanilla scents that I have used. It's very fresh, almost green, like a real vanilla plant instead of vanilla frosting. I like both, but it's nice to have this alternative. I have this in the handsoap and the scent really stays on--I wash my hands with it and then can't stop smelling my hands! Great find.

I was given this as a gift, as a known vanillaholic. It's a nice, true vanilla, but this fragrance is very strong, quite overpowering really. I use it as a room spray, or one spritz if I'm going to a club or somewhere where I'd rather not smell of smoke.

I love this vanilla! I have many vanilla-based florals, and think this one is super. Plus it doesn't smell "off", as vanillas sometimes can.
I also like it when I'm in the mood for a non-foody vanilla. I have fun layering lotions, etc. with this one.
Definitely give it a try.

This is my favorite vanilla! If you don't like vanillas that smell like cake, but still want vanilla, this is for you! It has a slight green-ness to it, but I wouldn't classify it as floral. This is sort of a tropical vanilla. If you like L'Artisan's Vanilia, you might like this as a summertime alternative.

This is a very floral vanilla. It wasn't sweet enough for me. Promptly swapped.
