I have purchased this product multiple times. My favorite color is slate. It is a steel gray color with a hint of blue, alot less harsh than black. I prefer this to the Bobbi Brown gel liners and the Clinique brush on cream liners. It is easy to apply and stays put all day, it won't flake or smudge off. I use the BB fine eyeliner brush or the Merle Norman #5 eyeliner brush which is my first choice. This is my everyday liner and I will continue to purchase. Cost is around $20 but lasts a long time. FYI, find a good Merle Norman studio, so that you will not receive old products.

I started wearing this eyeliner when I was 16. I was working at MN at the time and I let them do my makeup. I am 22 now and this is still my HG eyeliner. At first it was difficult to apply but I got used to it very quickly! It last all day and I don't have to touch it up. I hope they never discontinue it!! I will literally cry if they do! Oh and it one thing of it will last me a good year. It does dry over time but after a year I don't mind replacing it. You're supposed to replace you makeup every few months anyways!

First of all, I went to the actual store because it's not easy to come by. When I saw the beautiful colors in the gorgeous pots, I was in awe, and bought four different colors on the spot. But my love affair was short-lived as all four pots dried up in weeks. I found them to be getting drier and drier as time went on, until it was just useless. I hardly even got to wear them! What a waste of money. I bought my Mac fluidline over a year ago and it's still creamy. With these price tags, there is no excuse for such poor product. As a last resort, I tried to add water but it didn't mix well and was a chunky mess. I also found them hard to remove at the end of the day, but to be fair I find this with a lot of gel/creme eyeliner brands.
I've also tried BB and I thought they got a little dry too, but I was hoping Merle Norman would work out because their colors are really gorgeous. I had bought the black, navy, green and the auburgine. The colors were so striking and intense but I was highly disappointed.

I do love this product, however it does dry it quickly! But when it's not dried out, it works wonder for myself! :)

Great product stays on and will not run. Aubergine is an awesome color it brightens any eye color.

i bought the bronze. however, it is not a true bronze. it sort of looks plummy/bronze. it looks more bronze if u pair it with brown eyeshadows, it looks more plum if you pair it with purples. for that reason alone, i like the product. it does not specify being waterproof but i do have to use eye makeup remover when i wear this. so it is very long wearing. i do prefer creme/gel liners to pencils or liquid.

Works just like MAC Fluid lines or Bobbi Brown's gel liners. I purchased Slate (dark gray) and Aubergine (eggplant). Both are terrific colors.

I tried Bobbi Brown's gel eyeliner, and it smeared all over my admittedly very oily eyelids. I then tried MN's eyeliner based on MUA reviews, and it is far superior. It has the ability to create a strong, dark line almost like a liquid eyeliner, but is much easier for me to control. It is also fairly long lasting, though even liquid liner sometimes melts on me. I've used it on friends and it has stayed put all night. The cost is a bit high at $22, but for me it was worth it since you get so much product. I've had mine for around two years, and never finished it (I'm throwing it out now because it has dried out...plus you probably shouldn't keep eye makeup for that long anyway!).

I bought this in bronze and so far I have been quite impressed by it. You do need an eyeliner brush to apply it. But I feel like a proffessional makeup artist with this. I just use on my upper eye lid and I can do a thin or a thick line without making a mess. It does stay on well and my skin is oily, (even my eyelids) so it is challeging to find products with staying power. I have been using this for about a week and it is an adjustment from pencils, but I believe that it is worth it. The application with a brush does not cause tugging like some of the pencils that I have tried. At my age this is a big factor. I will definitely repurchase.

Afraid I don't agree with the good reviews. I think it's an average to good eyeliner, though! I tried it in Aubergine, which shows up a beautiful black-purple on my roommate. But when I went out and bought one for me, it was blue-ish and not nearly dark enough (and I'm pale). Something about my skin color and eye color makes it look too bright purple to be appropriate in a lot of settings. Very odd. Also, while I was complaining that my MAC Macroviolet Fluidline fades on the bottom lash line, it lasts longer by far that the Merle Norman did. In fact, my MN liner was fading on the inside of my top lids by the end of the day. Sorry, but just not a winner.

Bronze is a great color for the blue or green-eyed . It applies easily and lasts for hours without smudging!

I do like this product. Even though it's not waterproof, it stays on quite well!! I have this product in black, but if I can find a better product, I would leap to it! But, for now, it's holding in place.

I guess I would like this creme eyeliner if I had never tried Bobbi Browns, Cliniques, HIP, and MACs...this take forever to dry and always smears when I curl my lashes. It is glossy in color, which I like, but I just let it sit in a drawer, unused. I am mad I never returned it. I really dislike Merle Norman in general. Our town has two stores...no matter which I go to the girls are unhelpful, do not try to show me anything, it is as if they just want no customers bothering them. There are no prices on anything in the store..strange...I have not been pleased with anything I have purchased and have sworn off the store and brand, no matter how "with it" certain MUA reviewers tell me Merle Norman has become, NOT In my town, lol...oh, and one of the stores is brand new with all young girls working it, does not matter...I still get the same horrible help in there, not worth my time or effort. They don't care if I buy or return, totally appathetic. Don't do me any favors, Merle norman, lol!

Have this in slate. Bought the eyeliner brush MN sells to go with it, able to get a fine line. Looks excellent when applied, creamy, lasts all day, no tugging at the eye. Would recommend.

After trying on black and Aubergine, I got this in Augbergine. I noticed the black shade received many hyper-enthusiastic recommendations, but it looked ghastly on me, as I am a blonde with pale, washed out eyebrows and pale, sallow skin. I would really give this a 4.5 rating if I could. It has incredible staying power, but I am not 100% satisfied with the color range and selection for the pigment challenged (such as me). I could go on, but really the black was the blackest black ever, and it seemed I could not thin or soften it in any way. So, as usual, I had to go with a soft plummy color which is almost too washed out. The upside is, unlike Bobbi Brown Creme eyeliner, which I also reviewed, this really lasts, and it goes on more evenly. This cost $17.50 when I bought it in late November or December 2007. About packaging: the glass jar is too smooth and slippery. I lost my grip, dropped it, and the eyeliner came out as one firm blob. I was able to immediately re-pot it (luckily the bathroom floor had just been sanitized thoroughly), but in less fortunate circumstances, I might have had to trash this. Be careful handling the package. I said I would buy this again, but I think it will take a very long time to use all this, unless it dries out prematurely, like my Bobbi Brown.

It's okay. I like the Clinique creme eyeliner more. It goes on smoother.

I have three colors. They are really nice. My HG!.

This is a very long lasting creme eyeliner. I always had problems with racoon eyes after an hour or so having pencil eyeliner on (even waterproof). This eyeliner has solved that problem. Goes on pretty smooth with practice. I close my jar up immediately between eyes so I haven't had the problem of the contents of the jar drying out. I have this in brown and slate.
Edit 12-1-08...
I just purchased the Bronze color and I like it alot. I will use this instead of Brown.

This is an excellent eyeliner, my next favorite. VERY long lasting and looks great. But you do have the problems others have mentioned - tricky to get used to the application, and it dries out quickly, on the brush and in the jar (close it immediately).
