I love this color! I've got dark brown eyes, NC20/25 black hair/asian. This is just a really natural looking, subtle eyeliner. My only con is that it doesn't last as long as I would like. It tends to fade before I finish the day at work.

The best ever - the color is really pretty and it has amazing staying power (all day and night). One little pot also lasts forever - although after a while it does start drying out which makes it a little more difficult to apply but it still stays on. I will never use another liner. The price is totally worth it.

I really wanted to love this because I was hoping I would be able to notice some shimmer in it but after applying, it looked like a basic brown gel liner. I would highly recommend trying Maybelline's Eye Studio Lasting Drama gel liner in brown instead of this. It is longwearing, smudge proof and much less expensive! The packaging is also very similar as well.

Blackened brown base with bronzey-red shimmers. Texture is a bit harder than my older BB gel liner, not sure why. I use this for warm/neutral looks and Black Mauve Shimmer for cool/neutral looks. Love.

Went into Nordstrom with the intention of buying the Caviar gel eyeliner. I have black hair with graying streaks, medium brown eyes.
Was steered towards the chocolate shimmer and I must admit that the chocolate shimmer is perfect. Although this eyeliner is a little on the pricey side, the fact that it stays on until removed with eye makeup remover makes it worth every penny.

I love. I was so impressed with this product. Normally, I do not wear eyeliner at all because I just cannot get it to work for me. I need a super thin line because there is very little space between the fold of my eye and my lashline. Any line that is too thick or too dark just makes me look odd. I've tried pencil, I've tried liquid, but I've never tried gel liner, and I just love this one. It is the easiest to apply (I use Sephora's Professionnel Angled Liner/Eyeliner Brush #15 which makes a perfect thin line which I can get right next to my lashline) and the color is great. Much softer than a black but still dramatic enough. Also, staying power is great! Lasted all day long, even throughout my sweaty martial arts workout! HG.

This is a dark shimmery chocolate brown gel e/l. I wear dark green contacts and this color does some amazing things to my eyes. This is my second most used gel liner (1st is my HG MAC Nightfish FL) and have gone through about 1/2 the jar already in less than a year. This has even passed my cry test too! It stayed put when I was upset! Yay! Its not as creamy I find as some of my Fluidlines though but it works just as well, maybe even better! Would definitely rebuy this when it is finished.

Don't be put off by the description on the Bobbi Brown website which says this is a 'dark red brown'. Red-toned colours make my (and a lot of people's) eyes look tired, but in my opinion this has no red tones, although it's definitely warm. If anything, I would say that it's a medium/dark bronze-brown - not as harsh or intense as Black Ink or Espresso, but still more than enough to define the eyes. The colour is buildable too. This ink also has a noticeable bronze shimmer, which helps to brighten my eyelids. It really is a lovely unique colour for a liner. I much prefer Bobbi's shimmer inks to the normal inks, which can look a bit flat. Staying power, as always for these, is phenomenal.

I absolutely loved the color in the pot but on my eyelids it turned into a gray-plum color. It wasn't at all what I was hoping for. I have blue eyes and I wanted the brown to make them pop. I do give it 3 lippies for its tremendous staying power. It doesn't budge all day. However, for a true chocolate brown color, I prefer the Maybelline gel liner in brown. It is beautiful on my eyes and much less expensive.

Great color, not too light or too dark, and the shimmer softens it slightly. Can apply very precisely with the sephora prof. el brush thats bent at the end, then smoothed out with BB el brush I bought on ebay for $3. Stays soft enough to maneuver slightly, thin out, etc after applied, then stays put. Better staying power than 24/7 and more definition too. Its my favorite.
P.S. Used very sparingly, also great in my brows!!!

UPDATE (2012-02-17): BOYCOTTING RE. CURRENT ANIMAL TESTING FOR CHINESE MARKET
[Review cross-posted with main review for BOBBI BROWN GEL EYELINER.]
Does what it says on the tin: long-lasting gel eyeliner. Waterproof, runproof, and doesn't irritate (me, anyway). Chocolate shimmer ink is a warm mid-depth brown with some reddish-russet tones, shiny, with the shimmer of slight glimmer; not full-on large-particle glitter, but a long way from flat matte too. Not as burgundy as another favourite, Clinique Black Honey; Chocolate Shimmer picked as the best shade for my colouring (pale, some freckles, red hair, grey-green eyes with hazel-gold flecks); definitely one of the best for paler folks. Other that might be worth a try for other PPPs: black mauve shimmer (quite purple-black) and its non-shimmer version, black plum ink; sepia ink (mid-brown, no shimmer but more grey); eventually some of the greys: graphite shimmer, granite ink.
Smooth gel-cream texture. Little is needed. Requires a brush.
Can be used in various ways; I'm sticking to demure discreet tightlining for everyday purposes, and applying it using an old brush from Clinique's brush-on liner (I love that brush as it has a very short handle, which helps application, getting up close, with perfect control--I'm very short-sighted). Tightlining is a fabulous and magical thing on pale eye-lashes. Method (with thanks to the MUA Boards!): first, ensure eyes and lashes are completely clean and dry. Apply liner to base of top lashes on the underside, with the brush-end vertical next to the lashes (rather than on the horizontal, perpendicular to them). It sometimes helps to pull your eyelid up, or at one side, to taughten the skin. Use a dot-and-squiggle movement, so the roots of the lashes and the skin between them are covered. Same again on the upper side of those same top lashes. Follow with mascara and rest of usual eye-make-up. The lining effect is very subtle and natural. It doesn't look like wearing eyeliner at all. Indeed, the first time I tried this, I was a bit sceptical that it made any difference, so I experimented by tightlining one eye but not the other. Result: noticeable difference. Combined with applying a good mascara (with a slim brush) right down to the roots, reduces the pale-roots effect to the barely perceptible.
Fast to apply, stays on, doesn't run into eyes--even left on overnight--and no irritation to report. Note that while the ingredients list bismuth oxychloride (amongst other CIs), this is a general ingredient list for *all* shades so if you're sensitive to it (or to any of the other colours), contact BB directly to check if it's in your particular shade.
Packaging: small glass jar with screw-top lid. Jar's fine, the lid can be fiddly (I'd prefer a fliptop one but it's not a deal-breaker for me). Like any glass item, if you drop it it may break: that's why I was buying new liner in the first place, having managed to lose my Maybelline one and break the Clinique one when unpacking on my return from a short trip.
Costs around USD21.00 / CAD23.00 for 3g. Note that the Clinique brush-on liners have a very similar formulation but are a lot cheaper: USD14.50 for 5g; though their brown is darker and flatter. Cheaper still (but their brown is darker, greyer, and matte): Maybelline. Both are perfectly usable, but give me a nicer shimmery warm mid-brown any day. All three (plus MAC, another viable option) are cruelty-free.

Bought this after it looked lovely from a BB make-over I had. Lovely shimmer effect and really rich, gorgeous effect for winter. I have given i a low rating because even though this was expensive especially considering how young I was when I bought it (late teens), I just didn't use it. It's the faff factor. Then of course, it all dries up in the little pot. Not realistic for every day use. And for specail nights out, you're more likely to stick to make-up products and routines you use day in day out and know are easy, quick and effective.

Huge rave from this blue eyed gal. Gorgeous chocolate brown that once applied on lids doesn't look like your typical boring brown, but rather a little snazzy, to which I can only attribute that to be the shimmer. Applies perfectly to my upper lash line with the help of my Bobbi Brown Ultra Fine Eyeliner brush. Goes great with just about every eyeshadow color. Now that I've learned how to correctly apply, I will definitely be purchasing more colors.

I've been using this daily for quite some time now, so I thought I'd put in my 2 cents. For me, any gel liner so far has had far superior staying power than pencils, but bb really perfected it! I put this on in the morning, and I do have some time to smudge small errors back into place, but once it dries - it stays! And when I say stays, I mean that I have taken a shower in this eyeliner and it hasn't even budged. With other liners, (gel or pencil), I always get little "pools" of dark residue at the outer corners of my eyes. I never have this problem with this liner even without a primer. Application is a breeze imo, (I use the mac 266 brush), because the texture stays soft over time, it dries in perfect time, and it doesn't skip, it just glides on perfectly. Overall, this is HG material, and I plan to develop a collection of these gels!

Didn't retain the warmth as I was hoping, against my skin turns an ashy plum-gray. very pretty with the shimmer though. A bit easier to manipulate than the matte formulas.

Such a flattering shade, a shimmery dark chocolate, with a slight metallic plum cast....uhhhhh, it is so gorgeous on. Yum!

I love this product.
I swapped for it, and couldn't be happier! The product goes on smoothly and slightly more wet than Mac gel liners. Which i love, because that means if you make a mistake, a quick cleanup with your pinky finger is all you need - i like that it's pliable for that little while longer than mac. With my MAC blacktrack i need to take off all my eye MU or suck it up and make a thicker line if i mess up.
this item was a few months old when i swapped for it, i soaked it in alcohol for about 15 minutes, scraped the top off, and it is like new! not nearing dry at all. i keep all my gel and cream eye shadows and liners upside down and in a cool dark place to prevent them drying out.
i love this product!

As with all Bobbi brown gel liners, it has the most perfect texture and color. I have tried various brands for gel liners and Shu Uemura is one of them but I always come back to Bobbi brown because Bobbi has the best color selection for gel liners in the cosmetic market. This liner is the perfect milk chocolate color with tiny gold flecks. Perfect! This looks good with lilac, pink and purple eyeshadows. I usually pair it with NARS Pleasures of paris and its such a good combination. Its a very versatile color, not too warm but I can imagine it will look good on most skintones. If you're looking for a nice brown gel liner this is the one to go for. Most brown gel liners in the market look dull and flat but this doesn't. Definitely will repurchase in the future! Hope that BB never discontinues this color.

Got this as a gift. Love it--very nice brown and easy to apply (if you are used to gel liners and have a good brush). No smudging, flaking--I think BB gel liners are as good as MAC. I think the only reason to choose BB or MAC would be the color.
I have to admit that I don't use this very often because I just don't have time to fuss with my makeup in the morning (I prefer the extra 10-15 min of sleep) so I generally use a pencil for day to day makeup.
