This was my first luxury brand nail polish and it's still one of my favourites! Sadly it's now been discontinued by Chanel (here in the UK at least) so I'm keeping an eye on eBay for a pre-loved one, as my bottle is now half full :(

I usually just go for two coats, which is ample to show off Salsa's beautiful rich colour. The depth of colour in this polish really has to be seen 'in the flesh'. Whenever I wear it I always get lots of compliments.

Colour-wise, it's a hard one to pin down. If I call it a pinky-orange, I'm really not doing it justice! It's shimmery and fabulous and as you move your hand, the colour changes from a vibrant orange to a pinky gold shimmer.

What I love most about Salsa is it's glossiness. The best way I can describe it is, it's how the metallic paint finish looks on a car! Basically - the colour seems to be topped with a thick layer of clear gloss, giving it a solid looking finish. I'd recommend this polish to anyone!

This is very pretty. I won't go into detail on the color because so many other reviewers have described it so well. I have had this polish on as a pedi for about 9 days now and it still looks just as good as the first day I put it on. I hate the brushes in Chanel polishes, but really like this color so I would buy it again if I had the chance.

Yes, I would buy this again if it's new. This polish was a 1/3 to 1/2 used polish obtained in a swap. I think it may be a little old, and not a problem since I'd been wanting to try a Chanel. This is my first Chanel.

THE COLOR

Nothing like I expected, this color practically leaped off the nail into my eye. Seriously! The color is really realy shimmery! The color is exceptionally bright and it's very multifaceted in that it looks different from each angle. The general overall shade is a pink foil color slightly cool. However, when you look close, the shimmer looks somewhat warm. THe shimmer is not silver, nor gold, but it's essentially the same color as the polish. I think it's like Magic Eye, those posters you can look at that look 2D but if you stare at it somehow a 3D image pops out... that's sort of the effect, very shimmery multidimensional.

Now, the other hue... this color does have a split personality. It looks somewhat dull flat orangy brown for an instant if you tilt your nail away from the light but bring it back and it springs into pink foil again.

THE WEAR

Well, the sad truth is that this color flaked around the tips instantly before I could top it with a top coat. I touched up then topped with Seche Vite which really did the trick. I blame this on being an old polish. I'm OK with this. However, if you are interested in this color I would firmly suggest that if you're spending $17 or so on this bottle then you had better invest in a good quality topcoat whether it's a drugstore brand or the Cadillac of top coats Seche Vite and you should be well off to protect your investment.

OVERALL

I was thrilled that my first Chanel color was so drastically different from any other shade that I've tried. This will be my first of many more purchases. However, I am not a big fan of old or used nail polishes now that I've become a collector. I would choose carefully but I am going to be in person buying Chanel over the counter now. I am not sure I would trust ebay but maybe communication would convince me the color hasn't been lanquishing in some dusty warehouse somewhere in 100 temperature heat. Enjoy Salsa! I know I will be! continued >>

I love this color! It reminds me of the reddish part on fresh summer peaches - that combo of gold, reddish-pink and peach.

This particular shade is not as shiny as most other Chanel lacquers are, but that's what a great top-coat is for!

I love this polish! It changes from pink to gold and is a great summer shade. Like most Chanel polishs, this polish rarely chips, and I really love its reflective qualities. Very classy.

Three days later... Unfortunately, I seem to be the only person who likes this polish. My boyfriend claims it makes me look like grandma and people say it looks like copper. I guess this color isn't as great as I thought.

I love, love, love Salsa! I like unusual colors in nail polish, and this is it. It is a summer color I can't see wearing this during the fall. Kind of pinky-peachy gold iridescent. Changes colors as you move your hand. I have received so many compliments on this color. Must buy a second in case I ever run out!
UPDATE: I went through a red phase recently and forgot about my beloved Salsa. I am wearing it now and I am sooo....IN LOVE WITH THIS COLOR!!! I can't explain it, I just adore it. I must get a second bottle....

I really like Chanel's nail polish formulation. It's the easiest nail polish I've worked with and they have really beautiful colors. The 2002 collection has 4 new colors and I chose Salsa - an orange pink frost/shimmer. Beautiful subtle color that flahses pink/orange/copper depending on lighting. There's also a new matching lippie, but it was too pink for my skin tone. Matches with the new eye quad and blushes for 2002.
