I have normal/dry skin and wear N1 in Mac face and body and 118 in MUFE. I have the second lightest shade. This is what I use daily. I like that the coverage is very sheer. I also love the SPF 25. This is extremely moisturizing and is a thick balm. The sent is strong but I like it. If you have oily skin this would not work for you. Also if you want coverage, not for you. But for me it's amazing!

For reference I'm NC40 and wear Medium-toDark in this product. This product is for the driest of dry skins. If you have normal skin, combination skin or oily skin... do NOT buy this product. If you do, I guarantee you will be disappointed. All that being said, however, if you have very dry skin, you will LOVE this! My skin is wacko and changes from very dry to dry to normal to combination to oily. Hormones, yanno? Anyway, I don't wear this all the time - only when my skin is feeling super parched and dry. When it's in that "mode" and I want to protect my skin and nourish it while evening out the color, THIS product is the one I reach for. I apply using the Buffing Brush from Real Techniques and it provides a hint of color which evens out my skin tone and gives me a "glow". Once my skin recovers and becomes more balanced, I don't wear this or I will look shiny and feel greasy. For the right skin type (DRY skin) this product is wonderful.

I came to the end of a tube of Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser and thought I'd give something else a try. I had this applied by a Bobbi Brown artist and then took a sample pot home - I'm glad I didn't buy it. Even though she did a nice job, I didn't feel it gave me enough coverage. It's VERY sheer. I have combination skin that is sensitive and I don't like too much coverage, but this was so sheer as to be barely covering anything at all. I do like the smell and it is really a 'balm' - in a way it is one of the products that is truly a tinted moisturiser (we generally expect tinted moisturisers to act like light coverage foundations). Anyway, it was very moisturising but I didn't like the shiny finish it gave (not dewy, shiny), and even setting with powder didn't stop the shine from coming back later. I'll stick with LM for now!
I got a generous sample of this from the department store. I have dry skin and the Bobbi Brown consultant said this has more converage than a tinted moisturizer, but less that a full foundation.
My first impressions were that it was great. It goes on more like a skin treatment than a makeup and feels very nourishing and luxurious. The smell is also really nice, but may aggravate you if you are super sensitive. It smells almost herbal or botanical to me. Once applied, it gave a really pretty and glowing finish. I don't have a lot to conceal, but it seemed to give a good amount of coverage as well. Anyway, that was on the first day.
By the third day, instead of glowy it was starting to appear greasy and shiny. Within a week I was broken out on my chin and forehead and nose. I hardly ever break out like this, so I know this was the culprit.
I have to agree with those who say this is only for VERY DRY skin. My skin is pretty dry and with continued use this balm made me a broken out mess. Also, sunscreen and other skin nutrients are not photo stable in a jar container. They need to be in an airtight, light tight container.
Overall this was a big miss for me.

I always have a jar of this stuff to hand as, during the day at work, I don't wear full foundation anymore (the air conditioning/heating seemed to dry foundation out and it ends up looking cakey). However, this stuff doesn't do that. My skin is clear enough that it gives enough coverage (with a little extra help needed from concealer around the nose area and for any "monthly" spots I might get). I really like the smell and have no issue with it. It smells fresh and citrus-like, to me. As with another reviewer, my skin looks good at the end of the day after this. I keep buying it, anyway.

Ugh. The smell is way too strong. It goes away after a while, but if you are at all sensitive to fragrance, stay away!
It is moisturizing, at first, but after a while is just plain uncomfortable on the face. It gives coverage, at first, but then irritated red patches start to show through.
I bought this product years ago...I did not enjoy it..I wanted some coverage but not anything too heavy...well this product made my combination skin feel rather greasy and shiny....there was little to no coverage, and it costs a lot...There are a lot of better tinted moisturizers on the market to get...I now use Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer and it works great! Much better! Save your money and don't get this product.
This is the first makeup I have bought in years! My skin is normal to dry, but it can get very dry depending on my environment. I have very clear skin as well, so I usually wear nothing but mascara most days. Since I have refrained from splurging for so long, I decided that now was the time to get one nice base to use when needed. I had always wanted to try this but was put off by the price tag. Anyhow, I decided to try it out and put this on half my face and shopped for a few hours. I loved it and bought it. I am light olive-skinned and bought this in light-medium. Wonderful product in my opinion. The coverage is very light and dewy, and I love the dependable built-in spf.
This is a very dewy, very sheer tinted moisturizer.
Price: At $52, certainly one of the more expensive products in BB's foundation line.
Packaging: I know others are squicky over using a jar product (vs a pump or tube), but the jar doesn't bother me. However, I could see how traveling with this could be an issue.
Product: I have extremely dry skin, live in a very dry climate and have slight reddish pigmentation in both of my cheeks. I don't wear regular foundation as I have yet to try one that doesn't end up cakey, and my skin is clear aside from the slight redness. Before trying this balm I was using BB's OF TM, which I like, but was wondering if there was anything else in her line that would be slightly more hydrating.
The first day I used this I looked at my face in several different lights--natural indoors, outside (sunny), fluorescent indoors. Outside, I thought my face looked glowing and fresh. Inside, sometimes I thought it looked nice, other times I thought it looked a tad greasy.
Aside from my concerns about the finish, I also wasn't sure about the coverage. I know this can be layered, and I don't use primer or powder, but for a single application, it seemed very, very thin. This was confirmed on the second day, when I was able to do half my face with the OF TM and the other half with this. By far, the OF TM gave better coverage (for "one coat", if you will), especially on my slightly reddish cheeks.
This is going back and I may opt to order the BB regular TM to see if that solves my problem of wanting something with a tad more coverage with more moisture.

Bobbi Brown's products have never disappointed me and this one is no different. I love this! I'm not sure why I never tried a tinted moisturizer before, this particular one covers and keeps skin hydrated so well. Her products are just so reliable. I am sure when I near the end I will try to find a cheaper replacement because that's how I am though. Lol ( I have 2 kids in college)
