I am a DHC junkie, and have been for at least 10 years. I use to have horrible acne...on the verge of taking Accutane. I am very pleased with this soap. I use it after my deep cleansing oil twice daily. I love the fact it comes in 2 sizes: small for travel and full size. Cleans without drying my face. After switching to DHC my breakout have markedly reduced. Now if I get 1 pimple that's a bad day....much improved from my previous full face acne.

I think a bar of Dial would have performed as well. I found this soap much too harsh and drying. It was a sample, so thankfully I didn't pay 'much' for it, other than feeling dried out and taut.

I am a big fan of DHC since most of its products work for me pretty well. But I was not impressed by this soap. It's supposed for oily skin. I have kinda combination skin but I don't think it cleans very well. It's pretty cheap but I won't buy it again.

This soap works well for my oily skin. It takes off the makeup, oil and dirt without being as drying or harsh as drugstore brand cleansers. It leave my skin feeling nice afterward and not tight like other oily skin cleansers. My only complaint is the price. I buy the 3 little soaps for $15 on DHC's website. However, each little soap lasts only about a month.

Wow did his tighten up my face -- not in a good way.
If I didn't immediately follow up with toner, my face became glossy, shiny, crazy looking.
If you're looking for this effect, you'll like this product.
I like their mild soap much better.

Sadly this did not work for me, having oily acne prone skin I thought this would be perfect for me. My experience did not match up with my expectations, for one this soap dried me out a lot. After washing, my face felt that dreaded tightness. Another thing is that I noticed it accentuated my acne scars for some reason not sure how this worked but it looked darker than usual. I love DHC but this didn't work for me, I found myself turning to my beloved LUSH facial soaps which work amazingly.

I thought I wouldn't like this soap, messing with the bar after using liquidy cleansers for so long. But it's no problem at all. It foams gently but lathers well and leaves my oily skin feeling super clean but not tight or dry. My skin is less oily and I have had no breakouts since I started using the Pure Soap and the Deep Oil Cleanser. This soap makes my skin so much better feeling and looking. I got the little leaf-shaped soap tray and it keeps the soap dry so it doesn't dissolve. I also like having the three soaps... a back up or for the gym bag, a shower and a sink soap. Really wonderful soap to me. I'll use this as long as they make it!

Great product! I used to have moderate acne and I tried everything under the sun from St. Ives to Proactive and my skin wouldn't stop breaking out. It was terrible! My cousin who was also combating acne at the time recommended me DHC. I tried the Blemish Set (DHC Pure Soap, Balancing Lotion and Blotting Lotion -- although they may have discontinued the set, but you still can purchase these items seperately) and my skin cleared up in a few weeks. Amazing!! I didn't use anything but this blemish set for 2 years and everyone was amazed by how much my skin had improved.
I really liked the Pure Soap because it does a great job at cleansing, however it may not be best for dry and sensitive skin because it's really strong. If you have oily or combination skin and acne prone, give this baby a try!

I enjoy using this soap, my face feels really clean and oil free...and I don't have the tight dry feeling after I was it off. I bought the 3 soaps for $15 and it lasted a really long time...I just ran out....I think it would have lasted longer if I bought the soap case...
I'm going to try the olive soap so stay tuned for that review!

This soap is GREAT for oily skin. I use it when the weather starts to warm up...that's when I start the major oil production. And this makes my skin feel clean and not like their is a film or tight and dry either. Just clean and ready to moisturize for oily skin. I do like it after the deep cleansing oil too. Good stuff!!!

I used this soap along with the deep oil cleanser (which i LOVE). I had a sudden breakout of moderate acne and I really believe using this combination helped in clearing my skin. On its own it can be quite drying so it might be better to switch to the mild soap for those who don't have oily skin. However it does lather up nicely and lasts a long long time! Overall its good - but not great, similar to the neutrogena bar but more expensive.

This is an average facial soap. It's gentle enough for sensitive skin, and cleansed my skin okay, but it's way overpriced for what you get, and I think regular Neutrogena works much better at a quarter of the price. Looks nice, though, all icy and minimal...

It works very well on very oily skin(like my brother,he love this soap)but to me,it will let my face "too" clean and a little dry,I think it can use at summer. It didn't work on my pinples.
As a soap in this price,I prefer other brands like Lush, they can have the same work even better than this procduct.

I bought this product because the DHC representative suggested it because i have acne prone skin!
I regret it! I used this soap when my "Mild Soap" ran out. I guess it removes oil real well. But it left my skin so dry that it caused bad breakouts. I do not like how my skin feels after i wash my face. I'll stick to "mild soap" it's what calmed my acne problem so far!

Pure soap from DHC is a nice, no frills, soap for normal to oily skin types. I have very oily skin and I've been using a soap from Lush that the SA recommended. It was okay, but not what I was looking for (this soap is in another review and gets raves because it worked so incredibly well on my fiance's skin). I really like DHC and wanted a very basic face wash (bar or liquid) that didn't have a ton of harsh stuff in it. I can add those things later. Well this is definitely perfect for me. I use DHC oil cleanser followed by this soap and my face feels so squeaky clean, but not overly stripped. Moisturizer sinks right in after using this soap. Now I really don't know if it's the soap or something else I use, but my skin has been looking pretty nice lately. I also have the little plastic case for it so I can just toss it in my bag for travel.

This soap gets a bad wrap, at least from the review's I've read of it. I love this soap, it helped me go from having oily skin to cleaning out my pores (with the help of extractions, of course!), and keep my skin clean. I used to have pretty clog-prone skin, but after using this my skin is not nearly as oily. I used to keep this on the counter when I had my own bathroom, but purchased the travel case to store it in when I moved in to a one bedroom apartment. My roommate kept almost using this as a hand soap! So...I tried to keep it in the case to prevent this. The lesson behind my story is not to keep it in the case unless you really are traveling. They tell you it dries out, and I knew it would a little, but man does it dry out a lot. I guess it's better than it being used as hand soap. Anyway, I use this on my face twice a day and it's great. It's all natural and nothing breaks me out. Sadly, I'll be switching to the mild soap because it worked so well and I'm no longer oily.

I got a free sample of this with my last DHC order. It's an ok soap, nothing special. It removed all my make up and didn't cause any break outs, but it didn't do anything special to my face either. I won't buy a full size because there are cheaper soaps that have the exact same effect.

It was an ok cleansing soap but didn't help my skin a lot. I also thought it was a bit too pricey.

I got a tiny sample from DHC of it. Oh well it lasts! I have oily T area, but I don't like it at all! First of all, it does not clean. I feel I need to wash my face again right after it; because my skin is not feeling breathing happily! I knew DHC soaps have a lot of excellent reviews, so I kept trying it, so bad it stayed the same for me. I could not like it. I even don't feel motivated to use it as hand soap.

I'm writing this review because I feel that this soap gets needless bad reviews. Let it be known that this is not a soap for drier or more sensitive complexions- and that DHC recommends this for Normal or Oily complexions. The description reads, "This simple little bar provides effective, no-nonsense care. Its gentle lather removes excess sebum, and uses olive oil and aloe to hydrate, soften, and bring composure to overactive skin. It cleanses without stripping your natural moisture or causing inflammation. No added fragrance or colors; just the healthy feeling of clean skin." I really like this bar soap because it does just that- it is superior for removing oil, and soothes/balances my combo/oily skin. Every spring, my skin goes nuts due to the weather change- this spring, it was much worse due to stress and I had horrible cystic breakouts on my forehead. I started using DHC Cleansing Oil and Pure Soap, both of which I attribute to my skin clearing up. I also think this soap is preventing clogged pores- which is key for my skin, which is prone to clogged pores that can lead to breakouts. The soothing part is evident b/c after I wash, any breakouts seem much less red. I use Pure Soap after DHC Deep Cleansing Oil at night, and by itself in the morning- twice a day, and haven't experienced any breakouts, irritation, flaky skin, or stripping. For those of you who like foaming cleansers- this lathers really well, and also rinses very clean. Definitely get a soap dish to put this in b/c Pure Soap does not come with one, which is why I gave packaging a 4. This is not a soap for someone who wants tons of bells and whistles (antioxidents, BHA, AHA, etc.) but needs a good gentle soap that removes oil and soothe.
