Perfect medium brown. Lovely soft pencil glides onto the upper lid easily. Lovely alternative to liquid liner which no matter how hard I try always seems to look too much in the day time. Try mac's paint pot in bare study all over the lid, a slightly darker eyeshadow in the crease and line the eye with this liner for a more natural look. I like the fact this colour doesn't have strong red undertones in it like some browns do which makes my eyes look more sore than defined.

This is SUCH an amazing eyeliner! I am the kind of person that always needs to have eyeliner on, I have slightly protruding eyes and I feel that just having eyeliner on the outer lashline defines my eyes and makes me look less....I don't know.....bug-eyed. Although I switch back and forth between brown and black, depending on how natural I want my eye make-up to look, neither looks completely natural - meaning most girls would be still be able to tell I have it on. This isn't necessairly a bad thing, I just sometimes want to look entirely natural and this eyeliner does it for me! It is smooth, pigmented and matches the color of my eyelashes. If you know of the Shu Ueumera (is that how you spell it?) brow pencil in Seal this is basically the eyeliner version of it. Such a wonderful product and I'm glad I found out about it. My only qualm is that you need to sharpened and since I'm so lazy about stuff like that it is usually very dull. But still, great, great, natural product that is definitely a staple.

HG liner for sure!!! I'm so glad I discovered this little gem!! It's not too harsh for my fair skin and it's a brownish gray clolor and it compliments my blue eyes really well. I've never really been a fan of black liner because it looks so harsh on me but this is great. I'm also not very good with liner and this give me a lot of control in applying so it went on great. Staying power is amazing once it sets for a min but if you blend quickly you could smudge it out if you need of wanted to. Loving this stuff!

This quickly became my HG liner. Like people have said, there's something very neutral and unobtrusive about the color... like a dark taupe brown with a slight amount of grey in it. I'm blonde, but with this I've been able to get a very sexy, "Kardiashian" esque eye that doesn't look overdone or too dark. Highly recommended.

I am about to run out on this, I definetely should go and get one asap!. It is "just that right color" brown, that is perfect for day time look or a causal evening look. MAC says it is brown with grey undertone but I do not see grey in it. Just brown. I also think that not every color in this line is smudge free and waterproof like MAC says, but this one definetely is waterproof and extemely hard to smudge, especially after few minutes of application. When used on the waterline though it smudges. I will re purchase this one but also try other brown shades too.
****Edit 19 Apr 2011
After trying zillions of different shades of brown, so far I think Duck is the best brown liner I have ever tried.

A very good alternative to black and perfect for daytime. It fits my fair skin and blue eyes very well, not too harsh, but still powerful enough. No red undertones that makes me look tired and weird, this often happens with browns. Doesn't smudge! Blendable. Sometimes a little hard for me to apply on upper lashes, hard to get in between the roots of the lashes without torturing them, but generally I'm satisfied.

Probably my favorite and most used Powerpoint by MAC. I just bought another one this past weekend; but mostly because from sharpening it so much, the "lead" somehow became loose and the whole thing just slid out of the pencil. (So much for the packaging... took points off under "Packaging Quality" for that.) But despite the manufacturing defect, I love the color of Duck (taupe-gray), I love its softness (no tugging) and ease of application, and I love wearing it on my lower lashline. I love how the line lasts on me all day, and I love that it is not too harsh of a color for daytime-- or on my 45+ year-old eyes. Have repurchased and will do so again when necessary. :)

I have tried sooo many eyeliners, and they all smudge on me. Except for this one. I use it every single time I wear liner on both the upper lid and partway of the waterline. I am very fair and cannot wear black and so many liners no matter what shade they purport to be are so dark that on me they might as well be black because they show up that way anyway. Even some liners that might be lighter on other folks tend to look dark on me. Not Duck. It is as dark as I would ever want to go and practically idiot proof which I love as I am not the most talented when it comes to eyeliner. Honestly, I'd moved away from pencil liners which I didn't have much luck with to the gels, trying to find something that would not smear, but they tend to be a pain to apply sometimes and need a brush and were no better than this pencil liner. Well I'm a convert again to pencils. This is the best eyeliner. I can get a fairly fine precise line right after sharpening if I want or a more chunky line. It all works and without making me look like I should be standing on a street corner or in the circus as most darker eyeliners do. And for a huge plus, there isn't any red in it. Anything with any red at all makes my eyes look bloodshot or as if I have pinkeye. So it is an easy to use, is a true dark brown without red, stays where I put it, and defines my eyes in whatever manner I choose. Can't really ask for more in an eyeliner. I'm down to a stub of a pencil and will certainly buy again.

Great eyeliner! Seems like everyone else agrees, according to the 88% rating! It's the perfect daytime eyeliner for me; subtly sexy and it's great for dark brown eyes! Stays well, too.

If you are looking for a very striking brown color, I think Duck is not what you are looking for. Itīs a matte cool brown pencil, dark but not too dark. It doesnīt sound exciting but it is exactly what I needed.
Brown eyeliners frequently have some red in them, whick make my eyes look irritated, sore and tired. But it doesnīt happen with Duck, because it is a greysh brown, not a reddish brown.
It defines my eyes and itīs not harsh, itīs perfect for daytime. I also love that it doesnīt irritate my eyes.
I bought it during summer, and it was smudging too much (my Forever Green Powerpoint doesnīt smudge even during summer), which disapointed me a little, but now it is cold I can line my bottom lashline and it lasts for about eight hours, then it will fade and smudge a little.
I have to use my MAC sharpener with my Powerpoints, if I use a common one I can damage the pencil and the sharpener.

This is PERFECT! I was looking for a liner that goes on smooth, stays put, and is noticable but not dramatic. I'm very fair so when I wear black liner its super niticable and I feel like it makes my eyes look itsy bitsy. This liner is great for my skin tone and it doesn't smudge. I will repurchase for sure!

I got this in a swap and LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT.
This eyeliner definitely stays put but not on the waterline. I have fair skin (NC30), so when I wear black eyeliner, it looks too dramatic. It is the perfect colour for an everyday use. It is a cross between black-brown-grey.

I looooove this color. I use to line my eyes with brun eyeshadow by mac but got tired of that bc i wanted a pencil instead of a shadow. Brun and duck are basically the same color and i will be buying this as soon as i am about to run out. I dont particulary care for black eyeliner as i feel it is to harsh for my waterline especially in the daytime when im tired and need to look awake. This is subtle enough to look natural and provide the definition im looking for, for my chinky eyes. Highly recommend- im nc45 for reference.

I love the powerpoint pencils. but this one specifically, duck, is just too light and fades away quickly. I've been looking for a harsher, deeper brown since.

This is a darker brown but with cool undertones (maybe some grey)?
I have cool colouring and this a great brown for me, as it's not warm hued. I use only dark brown or brown/black mascara and this is the perfect compliment for a natural look. It glides on and stays put until you come to remove it. I will buy this over and over again.

The name of this pencil just makes me laugh. MAC describes this as a fowlishly soft brown grey which makes me think of a Cornish game hen and then I get hungry. But that is just my mind wandering which MAC does when it names a pencil after an animal.
The color of this pencil is soft muted brown. Depending on your skin tone, it can have a slight warm yet ashy undertone that leans towards a green/grey/yellow. To simplify, it does look like a dark ashy taupe. The only difference I find between this is and Stubborn Brown is the amount of grey or the tone. It can be used on eyes as dark as mine (espresso brown) and just as light as blue and it will work as an everyday color.
Surprisingly, I find this color to open up my eye area because it blends in with the surrounding eyeshadow on my lashline. While black and dark brown are nice to provide drama and to draw attention to my eyes, sometimes I like my eyes to look wide awake than sultry!
Ingredients: cyclopentasiloxane, paraffin, c-11-12 isoparaffin, polybutene, hydrogenated cottonseed oil, jojoba seed oil, ceresin, ozokerite, microcrystalline wax, ascorbyl palmitate, tocopherol. This is a great alternative to black. It is a matte deep dark expresso brown. I like to use powerpoints on my lower lash line because it lasts all day and glides on easily. I don't like to wear black liner on my bottom lash line and this color really makes my eyes stand out with black liner on my top lash line.

Very pretty cool dark brown color. No reddish tones. I can't pull off black eyeliner but this a dark enough brown to create the same effect without looking too harsh on my light skin. The eyeliner is great. It doesn't flake, lasts forever, and only smudges a small bit. It's kinda hard to wash off though. I probably would buy again but I don't wear eye liner that much so I doubt I'll ever use this up.

Wanted to try something different and bought this to replace an old Clinique Eye Shading pencil. I was also hoping for more lasting power too as the Clinique pencil would melt by the end of the day. Boy, this is it. If you let it set up for about 30 seconds, it's there all day. I use it over or under MAC shadows (depending on the look I'm going for) and even alone. It's worth the bucks. I can't wait to try other colors. I think the Powerpoint formula is great too. Non-irritating, long-lasting, but very washable.
