I love the fact that this is a spray.
I dont see how you dont use water with this though...I always rinse with water.
It is a good cleanser but wont get out the more stubborn stains from light bristles. For that you could use an oil (DHC, Fancl, Mac, etc).
I wish it were more easily accessible for me to buy, but I tend to keep the bottle and filled Mac's brush cleanser into it and it is great.

Works okay, not amazing, but does the job...some people say they use w/o water...I find that I have to use water to get my brushes super clean (I use mac, bareminerals and ecotools brushes)

I love this so much I went about this today just on whim. When went to test it out for the 1st time It left my month open!!! I mean it got my brushes so clean I had to try it on all of my others too!! I'm so happy with this product it didn't take all that rubbing to get it clean either. I was so happy I can't wait to use it again.I also LOVE that it's a spray too!! you don't need alot either 3 at the most.

Good cleanser for my brushes. This, compared to MAC's similar brush cleanser, comes in a spraybottle so even though it's a little more expensive it makes cleansing a lot simpler. I find one saves a lot of product with this in a spraybottle.

I was really impressed with this product! I cleaned my brushes with it, which hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. It just took a few squirts, I had to run the cleaner through the bristles and then rinse the brushes in water. It cleaned everything out and my brushes dried nice and fluffy! I anticipate that this bottle will last me a very long time. It only took a few squirts to clean each brush. I will definitely repurchase when I run out!

The Clinique makeup brush cleanser works like magic! I was going to buy the Mac one, but I saw this on the Sephora website and read the MUA reviews for it, which were better than the reviews for the Mac brush cleanser. Because of that, I bought this instead and I'm so glad I did. I just spray it on the brush as instructed, run my hands through the bristles for about 20 seconds, and rinse with water. That's it! All the makeup and dirt on the brush just flushes down the drain, leaving the brush soft and clean. I like that this actually has a spray! It's so convenient. I'll definitely repurchase.

I love this cleanser. before i had this i would just use my dirty brushes over and over until i washed them with shampoo (a tedious job). then i finally realized that i can get a daily cleanser to use in between uses. i love that this has a spray, you use much less product that way. each brush probably needs 2-3 sprays so the product will last you a very long time. it gets my brushes very clean and usable and it dries quickly. i love this and will continue to repurchase!

Just what you'd expect from Clinique--a reasonably priced, dependable product that does what it claims to. I have lectured my daughters on cleaning their makeup brushes but, of course, they neglect things until there's a crisis. Not wanting to have to drag them to the dr when they get an eye infection or what have you, I walk around to each bathroom and clean their brushes with this--quick and easy. Yes, mine too.

Being a makeup novice I've been using MUA as my go-to-guide on what to get next. I learned using my fingers was a big no-no, especially for people like me with oily, acne prone skin so I recently went out and bought a few brushes. My husband, however, complains about how much time I now take to get ready which also includes washing my brushes after every use. (stippling brush for liq. found., powder brush, and small angled brush for bronzer/blush) So when I read the reviews here I was convinced that this would be my time saver. Unfortunately, unless I'm just being overly anal or just don't have the magical skills I read on the reviews I still take as much time washing my brushes. I have to use more than 1 squirt on each brush and I DEF have to run them under water. I will say that I do notice a HUGE difference in how much foundation comes off my brush unlike when I was just using hand soap and water. (for ref, I also use clinique superfit makeup, clinque mineral powder, and physicians formula multi palate bronzer/blush) Overall, I don't think this bottle, 8 fl. oz at 13.99 a pop is going to last as long as people raved about for me. I suppose it may be because I go for full coverage as I have acne scars I am constantly battling to cover, but still, I'm a little disappointed. Depending on how long this bottle lasts I may end up repurchasing although for now I answered yes as I do feel that this is much more effectively cleaning my brushes than what I was doing before, but bottom line, it will NOT save you time, you still need to rinse with warm water, product will not last long, but does clean superbly. continued >>

This product removed so much gunk from brushes I thought were clean! I just shampooed my MAC 187 a few days ago and haven't used it since, but this cleanser took out quite a bit of foundation I didn't know was there. Very impressed!
I think it did better at removing makeup from synthetic brushes (Ecotools) than natural hair brushes (MAC), but only slightly. Since my brushes are a mix, it works well for me.
Price is great at about $14 for a very large bottle, and the scent is lovely without being overpowering. Will purchase again and again.

This is a great product that was recommended to me from someone at Sephora. I was using tissue or toilet paper to clean my brushes with the cleaner and there was too much lint so I would not recommend that. I have started using baby washcloths. They are gentle enough, but still help give a through cleaning combined with the cleanser. The brush cleanser is a good value. I usually only need one spray to clean one or two brushes. Leaves the brushes clean and does not dry them out like washing with soap and water does. Great price for the amount you get in the bottle. I will be repurchasing when I run out.

I am planning to get this this weekend, but I want to come and annouce what I found out yesterday from the Clinique. I was rather confused when I was researching about his product, since some people say you have to rinse the brushes under water and some say this product is the spray on tissue and wip kind.
So, yesterday I asked the Clinique SA if I need to rinse my brushes under water after spraying this cleanser. And her response was "water? no...". Then I told her that was the instruction on the bottle (I read that here), and she was trying to look for a bottle (they sold out), and told me that she didn't know about that, and that no water was needed. Well, since the SA/cosmetic person doesn't use it with water, then I guess it isn't needed. One more pro for me to get this :)
Update: Okay, I've finally gotten the full size product and have been using it for more than a week. The spray gives a good amount and it cleans the brushes very well without water. I just spray a little on a piece of tissue, wip the brush on the tissue and thats it! Of course I still do my weekly cleaning.

This is the first makeup brush cleanser I used and it will probably be the only! My foundation brush was disgusting and I never thought it could be cleaned no matter how much I scrubbed it. Just a few spritzes of the Clinique, massage in and squeeze the bristles together, rinse and its as good as new! Works great on all my brushes and cleanses them with barely any effort or much of the product. And the bottle lasts forever!

Cheap, easy to use, effective, and antibacterial. This product removes any excuse to not wash one's brushes. Need I say more?

I tried two other brands of brush cleaner before this Clinique one, and this is definitely HG. Japonesque's smells bad and gave me big pimples on my cheeks, and Colorescience's didn't get the bristles quite clean. I do use this as a daily brush cleaner, meaning I spray it on my eye , powder, and foundation brushes and wipe them on a tissue until the brushes don't leave any color on the tissue. I don't follow the directions on the bottle and rinse. My face hasn't broken out and my brushes are soft and shiny. I deep clean my brushes once a week with baby shampoo, and will keep buying this for daily cleaning. The bottle is huge and inexpensive, there is an alcohol smell that fades to nothing when the brushes are dry, and it's pink! Clinique finally made something else I like!

I've been looking for a decent priced brush cleanser and thank goodness I found this one. It really does a good job cleaning the brushes and it even gets out the stubborn mineral makeup. I'm going to Macy's today to pick up my GWP so I have to remember to ask them about using it for in-between colors- you know just spray, wipe, and use without rinsing. I'm sure that's what the SAs do because I've seen the spray sitting on their counter. Anyways, great product. Will be repurchasing!!

Directions say to spray on downward-facing brush, agitate the bristles with fingers, run under water to rinse, blot excess, then let air dry. Worked well for cleaning a nearly-clean brush I received in a swap. But the real test was my camouflage brush that I use for BE Bisque (the bristles really hold the product). One run-through of the Clinique cleaner did not clean the bristles; Bisque adheres so well to those bristles. It took several sprays and several rinses under water to get it *nearly* clean. I am not confident that the camo brush bristles are as clean after the Clinique cleaner as they are after I use my usual California Baby shampoo cleaner. For some reason, I thought the Clinique Brush cleaner was going to be a spray/blot/dry (no water needed) type of product, but it clearly is not. I mean, if I have to agitate the bristles anyway, and run them under water anyway, and do this a few times to get all the makeup off anyway, I don't think that I am really saving time or effort using the product. I did not find this product helpful, so I returned it.

What a fantastic product! I find it so much faster to clean my brushes with this, instead of the sink filled with soapy water method. The large bottle will last a long time.

I just bought this cleanser and I'm a little confused...when you read the description on Clinique's website it says all you have to do is spray on both sides and wipe clean with a tissue...the bottle says to spray on both sides rinse and then tissue dry. I bought it thinking I would only use it as a spot treatment (spray and wipe) between deep cleanings...do you think this is okay, I don't want to be leaving any type of residue on my brushes??? It seems to work well this way but what do you think?

As of Winter 08, this product now retails for $13 for a huge 8oz (236 mL) bottle. Of the deparment store brands, this is one of the most gentle brush cleaners I've used. It not only cleans, but also has antibacterial AND conditioning agents so that when you're done, you're left with germ free, SOFT brushes. Also, it comes in spray bottle, making for easy cleaning. Basically you just spray some onto the brush, massage it in with your fingers then run under flowing water - that's it. Easy, fast and brushes dry quickly.
