I love this treatment. I have gotten used to the smell and I use it whenever my lips begin to feel tender. It seems to plump them up overnight.

it's very smooth and feel like making my lips moisturized.
only thing bothers me is the smell right after I apply. but it's gone soon.
after I use this a week, I think this is the best lip ointment ever.!!
my lips are no more dry, cracked. no more.. I'm happy with this

I live in my states tallest mountain range. Which means snow. Lots and lots of snow. Sometimes up the my house's roof.
You know what that means?
Bloody, cracked lips. Lots of them.
When I started getting them really bad in middle school my mom brought home this for me. White, medicated tube. When I saw the words 'medicated' I was grossed out. But I tried it. Perfect. I keep one in my pencil case at school so I have it on me at all times.
In my teens I have developed some strange habit of biting my lips in my sleep. Why? I'm not sure. I just know I wake up with a huge cut on my lip. This stuff will clear it up in a matter of hours. Works like a charm, and I always keep some around. I have not tried any other products (besides just normal lip balm) because there is really no need. Buy it, it does just as it says and works perfectly.

It's fairly good, nothing really special. Leaves my lips soft right after but doesn't seem to work in the long run.

This is what my mom and I call "bringing out the big guns". Well, I got home after a LONG day and school, looked in the mirror and my lips were frosted with dead skin (fight club reference, anyone?). It was gross and flaking and stuff and probably a result of my licking my lips and having a compulsive picking habit where you know, you peel the skin of your lips off in layers (unhealthy, I know) until they bleed and are raw and cracked. So I slathered this thick white ointment all over my poor babies and went to bed. Next morning, all the damage was reversed. Perfect, smooth lips. This is the most powerful, no-frills, no gimmicky packaging bullshit, utilitarian lip treatment that I own. It bashes up the horribleness of my lips overnight so aggressively that whenever I use it I go all "SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!", complete with machine gun noises and tony montana's repulsive cuban accent. This is a WIN.

I never wanted to use this product because it never looked appealing at the drugstore counters. I always looked for the latest and greatest stuff chapstick or nivea would come out with. I have been a fan of rose bud salve for 4 years but lately it just wasn't cutting it. it seemed like it just was a lighter version of vaseline that really didn't do anything but sat on my lips. I still had chapped lips, some times so bad it would split on my bottom center lip.- very painful. I didn't want to use blistex bc i remember i bought it a long time ago and didn't like the white cast it left on my lips, and also it was supposed to help heal cold sores (which i don't have). I was at work the day and they had some in the medicine cabinet and I decided to give it another shot. I used some on my lips and you are supposed to rub it in like lotion to your skin and then the white cast will disappear and leave your lips with a protected sheen that was not only soothing, but minty. hmmm.. i don't remember that from before! My chapped lips instantly felt better and i immediately went to my cvs on my way home and picked up the biggest tube they had. I use that now at night and smear it all over my lips and in the morning when i wake up, my lips are nice and soft.. not chapped. Surprisingly, i was using it incorrectly the first time, which is why i didn't bother repurchasing it so many years ago. Now that i figured out how to correctly apply it, i think i will stick to it.
UPDATE: this ended up making my lips WORSE and caused it crack and bleed.. the OPPOSITE of what it's supposed to protect! I was horrified!. ended up tossing it in the trash. big mistake.

I've been using this since I was in preschool, as I always bit my lips growing up. Back then, I dreaded this stuff. It was unbearably minty, and tasted disgusting.
A few years back, though, I went through this phase where my lips would be in a constant condition of crackliness. Chapstick did almost nothing, if not made it worse, so I turned back to this ointment. It wasn't nearly as minty as I remembered, though it had a slight tinge of mintiness.
To this day, I use it as a daily moisturizer (though I know it's like medicine), always picking it over my EOS and Nivea lip balm. I've stopped biting my lips, but now I have a bad habit of licking them, which makes them painfully dry. This ALWAYS softens them up. The texture is a bit odd, being lotion-like. You have to treat it like a lotion, really rubbing it into your lips. It's at first white, but like lotion, it will just blend with your lips. I saw an earlier review about how it streaked lips white? I've never experienced that...
Cons:
Not the best smelling/tasting
Weird texture--like lotion, but a tiny bit thicker
Inconvenient packaging (just my opinion)
Sometimes the lotion aspect of the formula separates with the liquid, so you kind of have to mix it around in the packaging.
Pros:
Moisturizes when lips are dry, heals when lips are cracked/peeling. So it basically does its job.

So soothing. Just what my lips needed. I use this when I lips are really dry, sore, and peeling. It provides instant relief. I wouldn't use this as an everyday lip balm for that I love berts bees but it is amazing when my lips need extra care.

I could have gotten a bad tube of this but I'm not a fan. For severely chapped lips, I like Aquaphor or even Rosebud Salve better, and they also give you shine and feel nice on. This is a weird white paste, at least my tube was. Perhaps this would do more good if your issue was cold sores or something.

Amazing lip balm. I use it whenever my lips get really chapped and i can't put on any lipsticks because it'd accentuate any flakes on my lips
Just let this lip balm settle in for 5 minutes and you'd get soft baby lips.

I live in Canada. I have suffered more chapped lips in my lifetime, let me tell you. For years I used Vaseline, which did provide some relief but took a couple of days to cure a really bad case of the chappies. I picked up some Blistex in my twenties and this stuff CURED MY CHAPPED LIPS AT ONE APPLICATION. I was dumbfounded at this stuff. Now, as soon as I feel the onset of a case of the chappies I apply this ointment and I DO NOT GET CHAPPED LIPS. Crazy as it sounds I haven't had chapped lips in years and years because of this stuff. This ointment, in my opine, is just short of a miracle. Worth every penny I've ever spent on it - and I suppose that's quite a but since I've been using it for twenty years!

I've been buying this for years and have tubes everywhere! My lips dry up easily and I get cold sores, this product saved me lips many times.
The packaging sometimes opens at the seam if it bended for a long time in a pants pocket or something, but overall good quality.

I always re buy this amazing "medicine". My lips easily dry out, and bleed.. so I need something medicaded to solve the problem. This is the only thing I wear in winter. Its AMAZING and keeps my lips soft and healthy.
ladies, PLEASE use it!

I received a deluxe sample of the Blistex Medicated Lip Ointment, and the first thing that hit my nose was the strong medicinal smell. It reminds me of childhood scrapes and the antiseptic cream used to treat those scrapes.
The ointment itself is thick and creamy, and has a strong, tingling sensation, when applied to the lips. However, my tongue would go NUMB every time that I accidentally licked my lips. Coupled with the strong medicinal smell and taste, this is a huge no-no.
I'm glad this was a sample so that I could try the product out for free. Will not re-purchase.

My mom buys packs of glysomed from costco, and I guess it was on sale and came with this lip ointment. My mom first tried it and then didn't like it, I figured I'd give it a try.
As someone also said, this is a lip OINTMENT, perfect for those who have really chapped lips. I don't, my lips just get insanely dry. Therefore it stinged when I applied it, and the smell is terrible.
Would not repurchase.

The words on the package, "medicated ointment," are important. This is not makeup. This is medicine for chapped lips! I would never wear this under lipstick or lip gloss. I use this when my lips are in need of serious pampering. I am on the telephone 6 to 8 hours a day at work and talk endlessly to visitors and coworkers, thus end up with chapped lips, especially during the Wisconsin winters I so dearly love. Ugh. This stuff works. It does not taste good. It does not smell good. It heals my lips so that they will look beautiful the next time I want them to.

This product just refused to work with my skin. The opaque shade of white was overpowering and made my lips look streaky. There is a medicinal odor that doesn't appeal to me. At first, it made my lips supple but after three more uses, small but painful bumps rose around my lips. When I stopped using this for two days, it cleared up and wanted to try it again- same reaction. I got it for 3.99, and it was not worth any penny.
The slanted tube- although innovative, is too slanted. It made a mess when trying to apply it. It doesn't even look like a lip balm, it just looks like foot cream to be frank.
I will not repurchase ANY of blistex's line because most of the lip products have SPF. I'm allergic to the reaction that takes place of chemical sunscreen and blockage of the UVA/UBA rays. Unfortunately that means, limited time in the sun, ABSOLUTELY no beach days unless I'm covered with sweatpants and a hoodie with huge sunglasses.

This is the ONLY lip treatment that heals my always dry and cracked lips. It's not one of these waxy lip balms that just sits on top, b/c it's an ointment it sinks in and 'quenches' your lips. I was on accutane years ago and b/c of that I have permantly cracked lips..anyone who's been on 'tane will testify to how miserable it is to constantly have cracked, and sometimes bleeding, lips. I wish I would have known about this then!! I can't live without this now!

This is the Best Sore Lip Repair! I've been using it on/off for about 10 years and just picked up another tube. It's not an everyday lip balm but better if you have cold sores, or cracked, dry lips that need some TLC. I put this baby on my lips and within a day, they feel normal again. Between this and Carmex, my lips always stay healed and moisturized, especially during the brutal winter months. Highly recommend this product over any other medicated lip treatment.
