Of course I love this, it’s impossible not to. Pretty packaging, pretty scent, and an all-around good quality face cream. During the colder part of the Canadian winters it’s not heavy enough but I find it to be just about the right weight for my dry skin in the warmer weather. I have some problem with sensitive skin but this - so far - has not irritated it. I use it during the day, and it works well under make-up.

Like the other reviewers of this product, I agree, smells great. my skin feels supple, I use it over my sleeping peel from bliss. When i wash it off in the am my skin feels great not dry. Its one of the best creams out there, I am glad they only priced it at $160. I know its still expensive, however when you compare the price to Creme de la Mer, Sublimage by Chanel, and other face creams that are over $200. very luxurious item. worth splurging on.

I love this. It's not greasy, doesn't break me out, smells wonderful, and just a little bit goes a long way. I have very dry skin and this is perfect for it - if I lived in a colder climate I might try the thicker formula, but for me, for now, this is the best. It hasn't aggravated any of the redness in my face either, which is always a plus.
This is a good enough to make me stop searching for new skincare, which I'm trying to justify to myself means the price isn't *so* terrible. But I sitll took a point off for it.

Purchased the ENTIRE Annick Goutal skincare line for my birthday in October, but unfortunately other than the cleanser, the other items were a miss for me and actually left me a bit on the dry side. Very expensive for standard products. I will repurchase the cleanser again, which I use daily and for me this is the only hit from the skincare line.

I love using this face cream. First of all, I love the rose fragrance, and that is saying a lot for me because I am not the biggest fan of rose scents. This one is subtle, not overpowering or artificial, and sometimes I can still smell it hours later on my face (which is a good thing if you have smelled this lovely stuff). Secondly, I almost feel like royalty when I apply this cream lol. It goes on so smoothly, and it feels wonderful on my skin. It sinks right in and doesn't leave any kind of greasy look or feeling behind. My skin ends up looking and feeling healthy. I have "normal" skin that gets a little dry in the winter, and I find that this and a little jojoba oil are enough for me. For someone who has very dry skin, I suggest you get the heavier version of this cream because this is a pretty light moisturizer. The jar and the box that it comes in is beautiful, and I think that this would make a lovely gift for someone special. I will definitely be repurchasing this.

A very luxurious cream! Smells like roses and melts into the skin. My face was smooth & moisturised with just 1 application. Only drawback is the price! If I had extra cash, I wouldn't mind forking out for this lovely cream. continued >>

As I have very dry skin, I bought the richer version of this cream. The packaging is so attractive and romantic and the smell divine.
When I first used it, I found it a little greasy. But when I tried it the second time using less, it was perfect! It sinks in quickly leaving skin soft and smooth. I just can't help touching my face all day :)

I wanted to laugh at it the way I laughed at Guerlain's $400 purple tub of orchid-oil moisturizer, which they kept trying to smear on me with a small white spatula every time I passed by. But then Goutal gave me a sample. The full jar goes for $160 at retail but I found it on eBay for half that. Still. That pricetag shocks. The cream sinks in quickly, cool and silky, leaving a dewy, nongreasy finish. It feels feather-light, softened those fine lines that were threatening my eyes and mouth, and left my skin feeling better than ever. No breakouts, no problems, except for the depleted bank account. As you might expect from Goutal, it's scented with happy fresh rose. The packaging is fairy tale gorgeous. I finished the jar and am looking for another. I wish I'd never met it.

First of all I think I would use this for the scent alone and it's a pity that there is no matching fragrance for this *crosses fingers for the future*. The jar is a gorgeous frosted glass jar with etched green rose vines on it. I had been hearing about this stuff as if it was a magic cream that everyone instantly loved. Curious MUA'er that I am, I had to check this out to see what all the fuss was about. Oh. my. god. It really is a fantastic moisturizer. The scent is that of fresh roses (not at all overpowering) and a lovely greeness that takes you outside to a garden grass, dirt, roses and all. It is descibed as a "subtle bouquet of fresh roses with relaxing green notes". Amazing. I would say that the desciption is pretty spot on. The cream itself claims to provide the benefits of active rose serum. It states in it's accompanying literature, and I quote: "Active rose serum is a powerful and vital elixir bursting with the goodness of trace elements (magnesium, calcium...) and vitamins (A,E,F and C) which are renowned for both their moisturizing properties and their efficiency in combating skin aging. Silky texture immediately absorbed, with a subtle bouquet of fresh roses and relaxing green notes" There is also a blurb with the packaging that states: "As the first day cream with active rose sap, Splendide day cream immediately moisturizes your skin and brightens your complexion while smoothing skin features. Day after day, wrinkles, especially the deep ones, visibly fade away as seen with the exceptional results of the efficiency tests. It's refined and light texture keeps your make-up perfectly intact. Freshness and comfort are instantly reinforced with the subtle bouquet of fresh roses and other greener scents" End of manufacturers blurbs. All these claims aside, it smells fantastic, the texture is wonderful and it is a luxury that I am thorougly enjoying. Is there a drugstore cream that would do exactly the same thing tehnically?? More than likely yes, but would it have this scent and exact texture and silkiness?? Maybe not or it would be incredibly hard to find. I do not believe the lofty claims of this to remove deep wrinkles either, but that is not what I realistically expect from a moisturizer. I just wish that companies would stop purporting that their prodicts can do impossible things like this. All I really want is something with a nice texture and a great scent that feels nice on my skin. For now I am really loving this and it is a fantastic moisturizer for me for the summer. It does seem to work amazingly well as a primer for my makeup too, so those claims are ringing true. I normally have dry skin with a tendency to flake and a slightly oily tzone but nothing noteable. This will be wonderful for summer but for cooler weather I will be using the variation of this for drier skin called creme splendide genereuse. Lovely product, I cannot stop touching my face and inhaling this gorgeous scent!

I got this as a birthday gift. It is a really nice moisturizer for my normal/oily skin. It is silicone based though which is why it feels so nice and smooth on the skin (it's got that silicone "slip"). Those with dryer skins might prefer the Creme Splendide Genereuse which is a bit richer. It has a divine rose scent (which I happen to love). It is a gel/cream in texture when you go to apply it but it's pretty thick in the jar. You only need a little bit for your entire face. It absorbs really quickly and there is no greasy afterfeel or residue on the skin. The Creme Splendide works great under makeup.

I bought my first bottle of AG Creme Splendide Nuit (night creme). I was purely attracted by the scent when I first try on this cream in the shop. After I purchased it home and used it for two weeks, I started to love it so much. I was able to escape from the harsh winter (in HK). Texture is great and the smell is divine. I just wish they have perfum made with the same smell.

Total HG quality. I use this in the morning only. been using this for the summer and it didn't feel greasy at all (and summer in Hong Kong is one all sweaty-greasy-pore-blocking-season), the gel like creme sinks right in leaving the skin incredibly soft and it's got the most amazing luxurious rose scent. I hv combo skin and this leaves my drier areas completely flake free. It can also be used around the eye contour as well, great product, however gals with drier skin might wanna get the rich version instead.

Well this is my first review and I am worryingly excited about it! Anyway I have been viewing this sight for ages and never felt compelled enough to review anything and I am a real skin care junkie.
I purchased the Creme Splendide as I just loved the packaging, very beautiful and girly if you like that sort of thing and I do.
The previous reviwer did an excellent job of explaining the main constituents of this cream i.e. Rose Sap etc. The cream is described as for normal to combination skins and that is my skin type - typical oily(ish) t-zone but drier bits on the rest of my face and getting drier as I get older, I'm 31.
It has a fab texture, it feels quite rich intially but sinks in wonderfully. It smells absolutely divine, like a a fresh English rose picked from the garden in the summer. I think there is a hint of green T or something in there too. When you apply the cream it feels like an instant dose of hydration and is extremely refreshing.
There is no doubt that this is expensive at £80.00 for 60ml but if its my HG (I'll report back when I have used if for a while) then its worth it as I must spend hundrerds of pounds on a regular basis testing other creams etc only to hate them.
ALSO, you can use this on the eye contour area too and the pot is 60mls. Hope this is helpful.

I have only just received this so I can only comment on how lovely and luxurious it feels upon application. I will update after using a month to see how it effects my skin.
UPDATE.... still in love!

I'm surprised I'm the first to review this as it has been available for a while now. Anyway, this creme which is aimed at normal/combination skin should be given due mention.
Initially I got a couple of very chic little glass sample pots when buying some AG fragrance, I intended to give this away as my skin was super oily at the time-funnily enough my skin is now closer to parchment. The SA assured me it was light enough for my oily/'troubled' skin, but me being stubborn refused to believe him and thought , 'this is for 'mature' skinned ladies and I'm not being sucked in' , though I'm not far off from that demographic myself. Well, now that my skin is super dry and all my oil free , combo creams: Korres/Nuxe etc.,etc., were simply too light , in desperation I reached for this and I have to say this stuff is lovely. Since I only have sample pots I can't give the full ingredients listing ,what it does contain however, is 3% rose oil and rose sap (which contains Vit A,C,E,F B5 ,Magnesium and Calcium) . It has a lovely light texture and a wonderful soft, sparkling rose scent that is wonderful to catch a whiff of on your face. This cream is lovely because it doesn't make you shiny or greasy, actually it is slightly too light for my skin at the moment but in a month or so it will be perfect, and is fabulous around the eyes as it is so delightfully refreshing. This hasn't added to my breakouts, I can't really say if it has improved my skin as I only use this at night, as I am currently recovering from a bad allergic reaction to strawberries (spots all over my face) but I know that putting this on before I go to bed feels and smells so heavenly.
In summary this is a great cream, it isn't an essential or a must have, and is rather expensive (£80 for 60ml) but since this is how much people pay for Creme de Mer , I think it's not bad, as rose oil & sap are finer and more expensive than petro chemicals and a bit of seaweed. This would make a great gift as it presented in lovely packaging and is such a luxurious treat , that I may myself break my self imposed rule of not paying more than £30 for skin care , also for drier types there is the richer version Creme Splendide Generuse and a full line of products including a toner, body cream cleanser and eye cream that was launched this month . These products are expensive but will make fabulous Mother's Day gifts or indeed for anyone. continued >>
