Very good cleanser. Leave my face very clean and refreshed and not too harsh on the skin. Always leaves my skin nice, soft and "No pimples/zits". I like using mild gel facial wash afterwards although it's probably not needed. The price is expensive for a cleanser, probably continue to use while searching for cheaper alternatives(not found one as good as this yet). Ps. I found this doesn't remove heavy foundation thoroughly.

I got 2 samples of this when I bought the la mer cream and tinted moisturizer. It irritated my eye area so much that I hate it. Yes it left the rest of my face soft and moisturized but there are so many cheaper and WAYYYY better things out there, which do not sting my eye area(lids and under) and remove make up & clean & moisturize, such as Chanel cleansing milk,L'oreal gentle cleanser, Clean Clear senstive, etc. continued >>

Yes, a cleansing lotion that does not dry your face-skin out after washing. Thats pretty much the only highlight of this cleanser. There's so much better out there!

Thinking of how great this brand is I figured all their products would be great. Not so much for this one tho. It doesn't really even remotely cleanse that well. There's so much makeup leftover on my toner pad afterwards. It smells of old ladies and the texture is really thin. For the cost of this it's like buying a pair of Christian Louboutins. Pricey product, mediocre quality!!!

I love this cleanser. My sensitive skin gets irritated easily. This cleanser is so gentle. I use it with my Clarisonic. My skin feels so clean and moisturized.

Tried this product from a sample bottle I received. Honestly, I can't see spending $65 on something that is going to get rinsed down the sink. However, that being said, I did enjoy cleansing with this lotion; left my skin super soft, and I don't mind the smell. I was a bit concerned, because it does not rinse off completely, but didn't leave my skin oily, in fact, it looked pretty radiant and smooth! Put on some Burts Bees moisturizer on after, and it melted into my skin so nicely. I would like to purchase this for the cold New England months, but I can't validate spending the money. Would gladly use samples until they stop handing them out though :)

I got this as a gift, which is good because considering the price tag, I would never have taken a chance on this. Yes, it's gentle and non drying, but it doesn't remove all my make-up and it smells weird... almost like expired sunscreen. Packaging is great; super adorable with a pump. Overall, I'd say this is definitely not worth the money. It's okay, and I don't settle for okay products from the drugstore, let alone products that cost SIXTY FIVE DOLLARS. I don't even enjoy using it.

*drum roll please* so I REPURCHASED this the most expensive cleanser I have ever bought.
I have to say that I have bought every other possible cheaper cleanser (which is to say about every other cleanser) trying to find something as good, and finally broke down and repurchased, since I had a little extra xmas cash...
I have very sensitve, dry skin with breakouts (still!) here and there. This stuff has this great licorice type smell (weird but good) and maybe I am buying all the hype, but it is supposedly magnetized or charged or something, but it feels like it is doing something good, only not in the usual acid burning your face kind of way.
Removes m/u & eye m/u, rinses clean but still moisturized, and seems to leave my skin glowing somehow.
Ah, and the cap does screw off (see my below review for "Pink_Kitty") and it's perfect for travel since it closes securely.
Downside is I feel compelled to get the creme de la mer to go with it and so the whole budget ends up being $200 + for cleanser and moisturizer, ouch... continued >>

It is hard for me to find a gentle, milky cleanser that does not upset my skin, yet removes makeup. I love this cleanser! I have had no problems whatsoever with it. My skin is NEVER tight or dray after cleansing. It is a little pricey, but I only use 2 pumps at night to remove my makeup and one pump in the morning, so it last quite a while. I follow my nightly cleaning with the LM tonic and follow up with the rest of my LM products. My skin is soft, smooth and radiant. If you are looking for a gentle effective cleanser, give this a try. Bonus, great consistency and soft relaxing fragrance.

I give this a 5 on all counts (best, expensive, great packaging, will buy again!). I was expecting something like cetaphil, I had low expectations, but this is very nice. I just used up a sample tube, and tomorrow I will buy the full size. Its a soft lotion consistency, not milky. its not runny like I thought it would be. Once its on your skin it completely melts in and spreads easily. No foaming, not much lathering. I massage it over wet makeup-ed skin for a minute or two, then rinse well. It took off my makeup. It feels like it might not rinse off completely, but lotion cleansers are like that. You're not gonna get a squeaky clean, but it wont dry your skin. My skin has been broken out and irritated lately, and this really calmed it down, with no breakouts so far (though too early to tell - I'll update). Very expensive, and I tend to use a lot of it... unlike their gel cleanser where I can get away with one pump. This I might end up using 3 pumps. It smells just like Boscia's cream cleanser. In fact, its surprisingly similar to their cleanser except its thicker.

When I reviewed it the first time, I ended up not buying the full size because of the price. $65 is a LOT for a cleanser!! Even for me, and I have no trouble dropping $$ on the creme. But last week La Mer online had a promo code for a free 1oz bottle of the cleansing lotion, and I got it when I restocked on foundation. Well, Ive been using the cleansing lotion sample for a week and I remembered how much I loved it, so today I bought the full size from Nordstrom. I break out so easily but amazingly the richness of this does not break me out. I put it on dry skin to remove makeup, and it works great!! It leaves skin moisturized but doesnt feel like a film. The downside, is that I tend to use a lot since it does kind of disappear once you rub it in.

When I began to experience more dryness in my already dry skin I checked out the La Mer line. The cleanser I was using was no longer appropriate for my skin type and I was already using other La Mer products so I decided to try La Mer's Cleansing Lotion. My skin is very fair/dry/very sensitive with the following skin issues: dryness, dry patches/texture issues, hormonal acne, and redness (mainly around nose & mouth).

EXPECTATIONS: I have very high standards for products in general, but for products this expensive I raise those standards extremely high. For this amount of money I expect an exceptional product which achieves the results I am looking for. I was looking for the following things from The Cleansing Lotion: extremely gentle cleansing, light moisturization/non-drying, and effective makeup removal (for facial skin/foundation). I was also looking for a product that would not break me out, not aggravate my redness, not cause an allergic reaction or dermatitus, not increase my dryness, and not leave my skin feeling tight after cleansing. It's funny - with cleansers I have more in the what I DON'T want column than in the what I DO want column.

RESULTS: The Cleansing Lotion does provide me with extremely gentle cleansing with light moisturization but it is not effective at removing foundation. I have to use a Pond's wipe to remove my foundation first and then follow with The Cleansing Lotion to fully remove every trace of makeup from my skin. I only wear foundation on the weekends though so I was alright with this because The Cleansing Lotion met all of my "don'ts" (don't break me out, don't aggravate my redness, don't cause an allergic reaction or dermatitus, don't increase my dryness, don't leave my skin feeling tight after cleansing). However, while my skin does not feel tight after cleansing per se, it still feels notably thirsty for moisturizer. So, my 2 complaints with The Cleansing Lotion: doesn't effectively remove foundation, doesn't moisturize as much as I'd like it to. When I made the initial switch to The Cleansing Lotion my skin felt soft and fresh after cleansing but my skin has since become progressively drier with age so it's sadly no longer having that effect.

TEXTURE: The texture of The Cleansing Lotion reminds me of my HG eye makeup remover (Nivea Visage Eye Make-Up Remover) - a milky liquid-y lotion. I like the feel of this on my skin but I have a feeling most people might not like this. I massage The Cleansing Lotion into my slightly dampened skin with my fingertips until it disappears, rinse with luke warm water, and then allow my skin to air dry before applying moisturizers.

DRY VS COMBO SKIN TYPE: When I switched to The Cleansing Lotion my skin was right between combination and dry and has since changed to a full blown dry skin type. I was happier with The Cleansing Lotion before my skin became drier because my skin felt so fresh & soft after cleansing. The Cleansing Lotion now leaves my skin feeling clean but it doesn't have that soft feeling it had before. I'd also like to mention that people who are used to the feeling of a foaming cleanser or people with oily or true combo skin might not have the "really clean" sensation on their skin after using The Cleansing Lotion. My SO normally uses Kiehl's Foaming Non-Detergent Washable Cleanser and once when he ran out he used The Cleansing Lotion - he did NOT like it one bit. He said, "I feel like I just rubbed lotion all over my face! It doesn't feel CLEAN. Urgh!" His skin type is combination for reference.

PACKAGING: The Cleansing Lotion is packaged in an opaque "La Mer green" bottle with a sanitary pump style top which can be easily turned to a locked position that keeps the product safe when not in use or traveling. I have been able to twist off the entire cap to retrieve the last drops of product at the bottom of the bottle. The little pump part does not twist off but the entire cap does, at least in my personal experience (and I have repurchased this product many times). I'm not sure if the other reviewers got incorrectly made bottles or what as I've always been able to remove the cap when I'm at the end of a bottle. The opaque bottle doesn't let you see how much you have left but I find I can easily tell by how light the bottle is getting. I love the sanitary pump - it keeps the product protected and it pumps out a small amount of product at a time so none gets wasted.

BOTTOM LINE: I have been using The Cleansing Lotion for a few years now and I do like the gentle cleansing it provides. I would have rated this product 4 lippies when I initially purchased it a few years ago but I am going to rate it 3 lippies now because it claims to be for dry skin which I now have and which I have found it less effective for. The Cleansing Lotion has been good to me though - it helped me transition from the foaming cleanser that I used before my skin became excessively dry without any of the breakouts, flare ups, or allergic reactions which my skin is prone to having. I would recommend trying a sample of The Cleansing Lotion to people with very sensitive skin who are experiencing dryness for the first time who need to change cleansers - it worked really great for my very sensitive skin when I had mild dryness. :)

This is one La Mer product I will not be repurchasing once I have finished this. I feel that the texture is too watery, before I even have a chance to rub it on my face it kind of evaporates... I have used it for three weeks now.
I do agree that this product does not dry out your skin.

I love the smell of this product, for starters...smells like black licorice, which reminds me of my mom. Since I have oily skin, I use this only as my eye makeup remover. It is gentle, and even if you get it in your eyes, it won't sting too bad. For dry skins, it's probably great as a complete face makeup remover. I attribute my lack of dark circles, in part, to this product. I feel that an eye makeup remover with a more creamy and emollient consistency helps prep the eyes for eye cream, etc. Only negative about this product is that sometimes it doesn't remove all eye makeup, but it does an admirable enough job that I will continue to buy it. Recommended.

Check the ingredients you will find that this is just a fancy'ed up version of Estee Lauder Verite Cleansing Lotion from EL's sensitive skin line. Splurge if you can afford it otherwise I suggest just getting the Verite.

Hmm, the other reviewers haven't mentioned that this has a very strong fennel/licorice type of smell. I would almost wonder if I got a fake, but I got mine from the Bloomingdales counter, so I am pretty sure it's real.
This is a lotion type cleanser that rinses cleanly. I can't really cost-justify this, except that I am using the creme, so it's fun to have a whole skincare "set" to use, it feels nice and luxe.
The packaging is a pump bottle where the top easily twists to lock, so this would be great for travel. Downside is it is a rigid non-see through bottle, and the top seems to be kind of welded on. With this price, I would want to open it up to get the last out, maybe I will resort to a saw or something.

As a guy I don't wear any makeup, so I cannot comment on how well it would remove it. However, I have been suffering from dermatitis for the past six months. Whenever I have a flareup, I put this product on like a mask and after 10 or so minutes my skin calms down - MAGIC!
Therefore, I think it's a great alternative for people with sensitive skin on those days when you don't want a harsh clean.
As with all La Mer products, it is extremely expensive and I would most likely not purchase again because my dermatitis has finally cleared up.

For a person that doesn't use a lot of makeup...this product makes my skill feel soft and smooth. Like previous reviewers, it IS super expensive and does not foam like any other cleanser... I found the product kind of like liquidy, like run down milk that you just splash all over your face... however, it does make my skin feel clean after drying. Will definitely NOT repurchase due to high cost, but will greatly appreciate samples :]

Received this as a sample while I was at the La Mer counter buying some other things, and to be honest I wasn't a fan. The SA tried this on me while I was at the counter to remove the foundation he used on me, and then I've been using the samples at home. It removed my makeup for the most part, but my face didn't really feel that clean. Normally, my face wash removes all of my makeup, but with this product I found myself using the cleansing lotion, and still using my face wash afterwards to completely remove all of my makeup. I don't think this product is worth what it costs, and I don't think it is remarkable or does anything special compared to the drugstore brands. The product is just OK. I expected more since I've loved just about every single product I've tried from La Mer, but this one just didn't do it for me.
