My shade: NC25
Velvet Teddy: Matte midtone beiged pink, leans neutral on me
It took a few tries for me to get this lipstick to work, but once I got it, it's been an HG color for me. The color in the tube is a bit deceiving. It actually comes out a bit more cool/neutral on my warm skin and also tends to be a shade lighter than the bullet. I was slightly disappointed at first, but gave it a try anyway. I fell in love with it after a week or so because Velvet Teddy gives me a very Angelina Jolie look: pouty and soft. With a touch of nude lipliner and this lipstick, I'm set! Make sure your lips are moisturized and exfoliated, otherwise this lippie ends up accentuating the flakies and dryness since it is MATTE. It's balmy enough to be comfortable on my lips for most of the day + touch ups. The texture of this lipstick is actually phenomimal. I usually hate matte formulas, but this one has become a favorite!

I had my eye on this shade for quite a while, but was kind of put off by the color as it appears in the tube. However I'm such a fan of matte lipsticks I had to give it a try. I must say it worked out quite well on me, I'm NW43 & it matches perfectly with my complexion. Great nude w/warm undertones, love the peachy look it gives off. I top it off w/ Sinnamon for a subtle glossy look & it's perfect :) continued >>

Lovely matte finish and great colour payoff. Looks lovely on whoever posted the pik above but not on me.
I guess i'm the idiot i bought this cuz indian actress priyanka chopra said it was her nude and her lips are super bee stung and luscious. i thought it would look great on me..shes maybe nc 45 ish and i'm more 30-35ish. on her it brightens her up and doesn't compete or over power her signature smoky eye but on me (yellow toned) i look like a clown:s
i don't get it. even toning it down doesn't work. it just looks orange and slightly brown and i look..older? i tried experimenting with different shades mixed in but no..not working.

I am NW45 and Velvet Teddy is absolutely stunning as an everyday lipstick with neutral eye make-up; but it also works well with deep smokey eyes. I would highly recommend this lipstick to women of colour who want a nude lipstick. I will definitely be repurchasing.

very nice nude/brown that is slightly rosey. It's creamy, but I almost always used it with a MAC 'lipglass' on top. Was my everyday lipstick for a long time since it goes well with any other makeup on eyes and cheeks, whether it be simple, or bright and colorful - this always fit the bill. I liked it a lot then, but I find it makes me look more washed out these days. However I have to say that's not limited to this specific shade, but more to this type of shade in general. Unfortunately, the lid on mine became loose so it wasn't fitting as tightly as it should, and it would uncover while in my purse. But this is only the second MAC lipstick that this has happened with.

Highly recommended if you need a very versatile lipstick that will suit a multitude of looks.

A first note, I have cool-toned skin. Most natural and nude lipsticks I have tired have been dreadful, and i've wasted a lot of money. I tried velvet teddy after seeing that this lipstick often suited those with similar skin.
Oh my gosh! This is the way I always dreamt lipstick would look on me! The colour is beautful, great for daytime - made my teeth look whiter - and the lipstick itself was a perfect consistency and did not dry my lips out. I have found a HG lipstick!

Love this lipstick. It's been my go-to ever since I bought it a couple months ago. I would never have picked up this lipstick on my own - it looks really unremarkable in the tube - but after hearing good things about it, I went to give it a try. On my NC25-30 skin, this is just slightly darker than my natural lips and is a gorgeous MLBB nude. This is perfect for pretty much any look, and whenever I'm feeling lazy or just don't know what lip color to use, this is the one I pick up - it matches everything. This is my first matte lipstick from MAC, and the formula is not drying on me at all. In fact, I think I actually prefer that it's matte - it lasts longer and the color deposits more intensely that way. Would definitely repurchase.

This was actually my first MAC lipstick, and recommended by one of the girls at the counter. I thought it was a bit of an odd choice at first as it seemed like a nude colour for darker skin tones (I'm very pale), but as soon as she tried it on me I fell in love. She used a bit of Lip Erase balm first, so it didn't turn out too dark and it looked beautiful. It's a really unusual colour on me actually.. predominantly brown but with hints of a sort of coral-pink which I've not seen on other peoples swatches. The texture is lovely, very creamy which is nice for a matte lipstick. I use this over a little bit of foundation on my lips (seeing as Lip Erase is sold out online, reeeeeally want some of this stuff its amazing!) so it doesn't look too dark on my fair skin. Personally I would not recommend this lipstick for warm skintones as it is quite cool. Will definitely purchase again.

This color looks absolutely gross on me. All wrong. Too cool of a color for me to pull off. It adds nothing to my look whatsoever. Just unflattering on warm/ yellow undertoned tan-dark tanned complexions. It registers straight up grey on my lips. If your still on the fence about this shade, go and try it out because the beauty of it in the tube is deceptive. Had high hopes..but oh well.

After having read so many glowing reviews on this shade, especially since it was mentioned numerous times it's perfect for medium to tan skin, I thought this was going to replace Freckletone as my new HG l/s. Unfortunately it fell a little short. In the store lighting and on my nc42 (summer) skin tone, it looked beautiful indeed. As soon as I walked out into natural light I knew I made a mistake. On my pigmented lips it didn't even look remotely pinkish-mauve- brown. It didn't even look the way it does in the tube. Instead, on me, it looked grayish. A flat, sort of beigey-gray that drained all the warmth from my face. It isn't because it was too light. In fact it was the perfect "lightness" in that it wasn't concealer-like. The problem was the tone. It was simply too cool and clashed with my warm skin. It's definitely a LOT less peachy than Freckletone, less pinky-mauve than High Def and Brave New Bronze and a lot cooler than Mocha. Velvet Teddy is actually closer in tone with Honeylove, except several shades darker. Basically it is a true nude as opposed to warm nudes. The formula is matte and pretty long lasting. It lasted about 4-5 hrs w/out eating. Drinking alone didn't take all the color off. It was a bit drying and towards the end of the day I had to apply lip balm. I didn't bother returning it because I can still make it work by applying a peachy lipgloss but HG status it is not. At least not for me.

I LOVE this lipstick!! it is great if you are looking for a nude lip color. But you should apply some sort of chapstick/lip balm first if you have choppy lips so that way it will go on smoother. It is a matte finish, a medium light pink/mauve color. I apply this then I apply Nars Turkish Delight over it.

I love, love, love matte lipsticks and the way they look on me. but be warned; make sure you take really good care of your lips or else its going to be drying. This is true for velvet teddy: on good days my lips look amazing, but if I have really chapped lips the lipstick looks horrible! I know its common sense but just be warned.
I really enjoy this color a lot, I think its very natural and works with any makeup your wearing. They match my lips almost perfectly but adds a brownish tint and mattifies lips. Was it just me or does the tube run out really quickly? haha I probably just used it a lot.

I absolutely adore this lipstick. I'm gonna go crazy without it. I must be on my fifth tube. For one reason or another, it's the only matte that won't dry my lips. Some days it's a little more pink on me, others a little more brown - but I love it all the same. It's perfect with stripdown liner for an Angelina Jolie lip! And neutral enough to still play up the eyes. Gorgeous.

The color is beautiful!! It's very natural and matte. I am not a big fan of glossy, glittery/shimmery lipsticks. So this one's perfect for me. I don't use it everyday but quite often...I like the fact that it's nude and doesn't show much. Also the color goes with all my outfits! It lasts for long hours too. it's a nice day-time or night-time color. A must-have :)

Absolutely love this lipstick, it's one of my top 5 nudes. Its the perfect nude nude for me, not too pink or not too brownish or too orange its just perfect on me. Also I hate lipsticks that are lighter than my skin colour, i dont think its flattering at all but this is the perfect shade, it's just a little bit darker than my skin colour. I'ts a matte lipstick but surprisingly it isnt drying at all and I tend to have quite dry lips so matte lipsticks highlight that more but not this. I will definately be repurchasing this.
