I ended up buying this lip balm as I needed to top up my purchase to $120 in order to qualify for membership. I knew this was some petrolatum Vaseline gimmick.
What pleasantly surprised me was the consistency. It was very liquid-like and easily spreadable. That's what I like about this product.
What I hate is the price. s$17 bucks for a tube of this? No thanks! Also, beware that it contains propylparaben and butyl paraben, ingredients I want nowhere near my lips. Additionally, the tube is honestly a pain in the ass if you're rushed for time. I have to spend like 10 seconds trying to squeeze out just an itty bitty amount for my lips.
So will I repurchase? No.

So...basically, this is Vasoline with some sunscreen in it. Luckily, I didn't pay for it. I got it as a gift. Moisturizes no better than smearing butter onto your lips. All it is is a barrier between your lips and the environment. I felt no moisturizing going on whatsoever. Trash.

I really enjoy this lip balm. Its thick, but sinks into the lips really well. I have it in the coconut flavor and its perfect for the summer! I say ask for a sample of this before you buy if you're skeptical.

This worked for about a week, then it started turning my lips into a dry, greasy mess. Also the package is a pain in the ass because it's very easy to squeeze out wayyy too much. And it smells weird.

Simple - it's just oils in a tube. I wasn't into the screw cap dispenser. It's relatively thin consistency means it's easy to squeeze out more than you need for your lips (which isn't much). It didn't taste or look like anything but oil. eh. I started to use it as my before-bed balm, bc the oiliness didn't bother me when it soaked in overnight. It works to moisturize, but wasn't worth repurchasing.

I revcieved a pack of these lovelies as a gift. Of the lot my favorite was the Mint, it gave my lips a nice tingle. I have friends who swear by this and are primo fans but I wasn't wow-ed by it.
I am going to keep searching for "the one" lip balm for me.

Best lipbalm ever. and if anyone dares to say that this is the same as Vaseline, i can tell you that it's NOT. Because I've used all sorts of Vaseline lipbalms & the original tub (hate it). I loved the tube ones, but they turned into semi-liquid after abt 1.5 months.
Kiehl's #1 does not turn into liquidy balm. And the difference it makes to my lips is huge, my lips dont feel like they have a film of something on it. And my lips have the shine after i apply it, not the greasy kind but the just nice, glossy kind. So no, this is not Vaseline, and i will repurchase this again and again. :) continued >>

This is by far THE best lip balm I have run into. I live in a dry wintery climate that also changes really fast into desert heat and when I travel to humid places or the weather changes my lips go crazy chap and swollen. In addition to that, I have a very slight overbite which my dentist tells me causes my lips to be chapper than most people (not sure how this makes sense but he's the specialist I guess). I've tried Burts Bees which was okay at first but stopped being a moisturizing option. The only other one I would take over this would be Carmex if I was looking for a cheaper option.
The balm is very light and not sticky at all and immediately moisturizes and repairs. My lips are no longer ever chap unless I run out--which I have since stopped doing so by stocking 5 or 6 tubes at a time because I love it so much! A little bit goes a long way and the only problem I run into is when I talk, eat, or generally move my lips too much I have to reapply--just like with any other lip balm.
I've tried both the balm in the round case and in the tube and love both though I prefer the tube so I don't get my fingers all sticky. I also love this in the original and cranberry flavor. Nothing comes close to this lip balm and trust me, I've tried a lot, everything from regular chapstick to organic stuff like Korre's and Body Shop to high end claims like Clinique.

I don't know whether I should thank this lip balm or curse this lip balm. This, this is the lip balm that helped me learn that I am horribly allergic to lanolin. My lips swelled up...it looked like I got punched. But at least now I know Kiehls products use a lot of lanolin. Thanks to this and a hair product I bought from them, at least I now know two things: 1) I am so, so, so allergic to lanolin. 2) I need to stay away from Kiehls products.

I have mixed reviews on this lip balm. I personally like the way it looks and feels on my lips. However I don't think it maintains moisture in my lips, in my option it dries them even more. Plus this product is quite expensive since the majority of it is petroleum based product.

Pros: LOVEEEE THIS! I used to have braces and it made my lips so dry, especially at night. This has gotta be my holy grail. It would last on my lips till the next morning and my lips would look so plump when I wake up! I do like the packaging because it isn't messy. I find that in a hot country like mine, it's more convenient to have a lip balm packaged in a tube as it doesn't cause a mess in your bag unlike lip balm pots. It contains a lot of product and you don't need to put on that much on your lips so it lasts for a good amount of time. I got mine in late August and It's December now, I think there's about more than half the original amount of product left in the tube. It's unscented so it doesn't irritate people who aren't suckers for scented lip balms.
Cons: I hate the taste, which is the typical petroleum lip balm taste. It makes my lips too shiny which does not look good with my skin colour. When you first buy it, you MUST be GENTLE when squeezing the tube or you'll squeeze too much out and eng up wasting it. It's sort of pricey. I believe it was RM30.

I don't like the packaging because even though it's in a tube, I still have to apply with my fingers because the opening is too rough to apply directly onto my lips.
It's very thin, so you don't need to use a lot. But it doesn't last very long so I guess you kinda do have to reapply and therefore use a lot.

I had gotten this on the 4 pack gift set. I had also gotten the clark's botanicals lip balm to compare. I thought the Kiehl's lip balm wasn't as great as I had expected. As others had said, it has the consistency of vaseline. It doesn't penetrate my lips as well as I'd like and it felt jsut like it was sitting on top of my lips. It's pretty slick as well, so I found myself needing to reapply. I didn't like how the tube didnt have a slanted tip that you could use to apply directly to the lips. I feel like that I could get a cheaper lip balm with the same results. On the other hand, I found the clark's botanicals lip balm to be great and very moisturizing. It is about double the price of the Kiehl's balm, but I personally think it's worth it.

My HG lip balm. This is the 1st and only lip balm I've used that had the potential to last all day. It will only come off when eating and drinking. Otherwise this would stay on my lips until I wash it off.

This lip balm is the best I've tried. I see a LOT of misinformation/ignorance about this product. To all those who say it is just "glorified petroleum" READ THE INGREDIENTS.
Lanolin -- highly moisturizing agent derived from sheepswool.
Squalane- Excellent moisturizer for skin, similar to skin's own oil
Allantoin- Great exfoliant to reduce dead skin cells
Vitamin E- Good for skin, antioxidant
Aloe- Again, great for skin
Petrolatum is simply the base, or vehicle, that allows these ingredients to stay on the skin. Since it repels water, it forms a barrier to allow the moisturizers and other ingredients above to actually work and absorb into your lips.
Giving this a 1 star because you think it is 'basically just petroleum jelly' is as blind to the facts as saying Godiva chocolate is 'basically a hersheys bar'.

I tried the Kiehls lip balm with SPF 15 before, it's O.K. But not very moisturizing.
I bought Kiehl's #1 lip balm last week. Damn! it's soo smooth and very very moisturizing. It lasts for a very long time and suitable for winter cold. I would buy it again.

I have pretty dry lips. I had tried lots of products to try to find one that would work, but nothing worked like this lip balm. I don't have to apply it too often, and it keeps my lips really moisturized. It is a little more expensive than most lip balms, but it is really worth it. Overall, this product is great and it works really well and really quickly. I would definitely buy it again.

Works well but it is basically the same as petroleum jelly. Save money and buy vaseline.

I typically love petroleum jelly as lip balm, but this formula does not work, perhaps because of the added sunscreen. It's not very moisturizing and needs to constantly reapplied.
