Trying this was incredibly interesting. It smelled like perhaps the best Gardenia ever in the sampler bottle. I sprayed it on and was quite suprised that it smells just like buttered popcorn on me. When I walked back into the living room, my boyfriend asked if I just popped some! I guess this is the true meaning of a buttery white floral.

This smells nothing like gardenia on my skin. It smells like honeysuckle - a very chemical honeysuckle. If it didn't have that chemical smell I would love this edt, since it had the potential to be light, fresh, floral and feminine. The drydown is no better - it smells like chemical grass. Even for 50% off, no way was I going to purchase this. I gave it 3 lippies anyway because I suspect it simply doesn't work on my skin, considering the other rave reviews.

Hallelujah, THE perfect gardenia scent at last. This really is like sticking your head in a gardenia bush. It is a little too spicy at first, but once the fragrance settles, there is nothing but gardenia. Just gorgeous. The scent lasts all day too which is great because not many perfumes do on me.

Wow, this might be the perfect gardenia scent for me! There's no artificiality about it. Most Gardenia scents become tiresome for me after a couple of hours, this one doesn't. I wish it was a little stronger but then my husband wouldn't like it. It's a very fresh gardenia, like when the flower first opens. I layer it over the matching lotion. It seems like a more modern interpretation of gardenia as opposed to say "Jungle Gardenia" which seems a bit old fashioned and vampy to me. I like it even more than Kai or Monyette Paris and it's WAY cheaper.

My mom loves White Linen, which has gardenia and other white flowers in it, so I gave her a bottle of this and she likes it. Much cheaper too!

This is one of the best perferred fragrances of my mommy. Yes, she does like white flowers (Diorissimo and Cabotine being her top favourites). So I am kinda doing this review on her behalf...
Smells simplicity, clean, and feminine. It smells like a bunch of flowers. It smells very much like her!
It is a truly good, mono-theme fragrance. And, who said the cheap cannot be good?
This line of fragrances are not expensive but they are nice... Gardenia is one of the best in this line (I have - and mummy also - also tried Lilas, Mimose, Fleur d'oranger & Pivoine).
I was scared when - at least here in Europe - they discontinued it for a while (two years ago - but then it came back... for our peace of mind.
The only minus is the staying power... it is not the best, lasts ony a few hours...
The packaging also is a bity tricky: tall, slim glass bottle, that is somewhat unstable on its own (suggestion: keep it in its box, always) so the risk of dropping in on the tiled floor is high....
Try it, if you like white flowers and a lovely, but not expensive, fragrance.

I see so many good reviews here! But this just stank bad to me! Way too spicy! However, it did stay on for awhile, so that was good, I mean, not for me! I passed it on. I do want to try the Lilac one.

I think this must have to be layered with their gardenia lotion to get some staying power. It seems a bit more like honeysuckle to me also....but what a beautiful scent. Nothing "off" about this at all.

It is so real Gardenia. But it is not long lasting on my skin, maybe because I live in a tropical zone.

Finally a perfume called Gardenia that ACTUALLY smells like gardenias!!! I read the reviews on this sight & decided to try it. Yves Rocher was having a 2 for 1 sale vs. the 1/2 priced sale they had previously. @ 18.50 USD for 2 bottles I figured if it wasn't my cup of tea, that would be okay. But I was not disappointed! Took me right back to my grandmothers house when she would put a gardenia blossom in a little vase. I gave it a 4 because it doesn't really last that long -- but I didn't expect it to last too long w/that price. continued >>

I’ve never smelled an Yves Rochers frag I like before, I havent own any myself earlier but I’m always sneeking in others bathrooomclosets when I’m visiting people and all the the old Yves Rochers perfumes I’ve sniffed before have been a cloying and parfumery-sweet synthethic mess I think. But because of all the good rewiews here I ordered a Gardenia, together with the Pure Desir Orange Blossom (because I'm wild about orange blossoms, and for this prize I just had to test it). The Orange Blossom didn’t smell orange blossoms at all, flat, dull and synthetic, but the Gardenia impresses me: Like many others have said in their rewews, the Gardenia is both creamy and fresh, and it stays fresh, it really smells like real gardenia, and I think its amazing to find such a natural smell to this prize. I like to put a splash in top of Madinis Neroli or Azehar (wich I love) too, smootens the neroli, and makes Gardenia a bit more discreet, its quite strong, together they’re another and nice experience.

it is a heady and glorious floral scent, both strong and feminine, perfect for the summer - I need to get a new bottle!

WOW! This is truly straight up GARDENIA with no other notes - a soliflore to end all soliflores! I don't detect any synthetic additions to this, but I suppose they must be there since it would be a lot pricier if this was extracted only from the flower. If you like your fragrances with some depth or complexity to them, this is definitely not for you. However, if you absolutely love the true smell of gardenias, this is perfect. While not my HG fragrance, it is certainly far better than any other gardenia perfume out there ~ and you can't beat that! (By the way, I have the small solid of this scent in a tin ~ smells as good as the spray.)

I love, love, love this one! Absolutely true to the flower. Not too complex, nothing fancy, it just smells good all the time, every time. I have the lotion, shower gel, hand soap, and candles, too. YdR Gardenia rocks.

This is my favorite fragrance. When I apply it, most of the people around say that "There is a flower around that smells very nice:)" and I answer "It is not a flower it is a perfume." This perfume is very suitable who is looking for a cheap and light fragrance. The only drawback is its effect does not endure during the day you have to reapply.

I love gardenia (Chanel Gardenia is what I percieve as the ideal gardenia scent, and UD Pistol oil is one of my favorites), but this smells a little off to me. The first spray smells overwhelmingly like the produce section of the supermarket, completely awful. The drydown, however, is light and pretty and floral, but IMO, it's a little too "green" for gardenia. With my body chemistry, when smelled up close, it seems to alternate between honeysuckle and produce. It's still a pretty fragrance, and definitely a good value for the money, but I guess it's not for everyone.

Very true gardenia. I am also reminded of Jungle Gardenia, loved it. I will probably not re-order this as it took 29 days to get here, and I thought it was lost.

I'm so impressed with this one! It does remind me of Jungle Gardenia, which takes me all the way back to being in the tenth grade. Jungle Gardenia (which I think has been discontinued) was stronger than Yves Rocher, and one of the reasons I left JG years ago was that it was too much for me. I generally don't do many florals, as I find many smell plastic and/or tend to make me want to gag. For some reason, "floral" has become synonymous with "overpowering". I've always liked gardenia, so I thought I'd give this a shot. Great stuff! 5 lippies across the board! It's very true to life, and the fragrance doesn't leap out and choke you.

Wow, great stuff & a must for gardenia lovers! I originally got a sample vial of Marc Jacobs EDP gardenia fragrance & loved it; that is, until I saw its price tag. After that I was on the hunt for a gardenia fragrance that I could get for less. I saw the reviews on this, so I decided to try it instead. I figured that if it didn't smell the way I hoped I could always return it. To my suprise (and happiness!) it smells almost exactly the same to me as the Marc Jacobs! To my nose there is very little difference between the two. This smells so wonderful I can hardly stop smelling my wrists! Even better: I got this at 50% off the original price (which is only something like $17.50), plus another 10% off my whole order with a YR online coupon. I also got the cute little cream perfum tin to carry for touch ups or travel, & it smells just as good as the liquid fragrance. Very impressed! continued >>
