First and foremost, this is hands down the best moisturizer for oily and very oily skin types---so please disregard the reviews by people who don't have this skin type. Aubrey Organics has created different lines to specifically target different skin types, such as combination, normal, and dry. So, it baffles me why a person with combination or normal skin would negatively review a product designed for OILY skin when Aubrey has a whole line for combination or normal skin!
With that said...On to the actual review... This is the only moisturizer I've ever tried that fully absorbs into my skin. I'm 25 with very oily skin, so everything usually just sits on the surface (even after two rounds of Accutane). This stuff makes my skin feel so baby soft, smooth, and velvety. Even if I accidently get too much in the palm of my hand, I slather it all over my face, in multiple layers, and it still soaks right in. For me, it provides the perfect amount of moisture that I need during the day. At night, I use a heavier moisturizer to do its thing while I sleep, especially because it's winter. In the summer, I'll probably just use this product 2x a day.
As for the smell, I actually really like it. It smells like a soft, herbal scent but it's not musty at all and it's actually very soothing and clean smelling. I'm not quite sure why people find it so offensive because I have a very sensitive nose, but everyone's taste in smell is different. For me, I wouldn't want them to change it in any way.
As for the oil balancing... I've only been using the line (cleanser, toner, moisturizer) for about a week and so far, it hasn't changed the amount of oil I produce on a daily basis. It doesn't exacerbate the oil and it doesn't irritate my skin or break me out. If anything, I think it's improving breakouts that try to emerge. It does a very good job at neutralizing redness, which is a big plus for acne prone ladies like myself.
Overall, I was hoping it would tame the oilies, but wasn't expecting a miracle. Maybe in time it will balance out the oil a bit with further use. I'll update if this is the case. But, if you're looking for a simple, pure, potent, moisturizer for oily skin types, look no further---this is perfection.
EDIT: im dropping this down to 3 stars. It does absolutely nothing to balance oil and it may even make me slightly more oily than usual. Although it's easily absorbed into my skin, it doesn't help as much as other moisturizers with clay. So, the search continues.

The scent of this moisturizer is a bit weird and overwhelming at first, though once it soaks in most people tell me I smell like brown sugar. If you like the scent of brown sugar, then I guess that's a plus.
Besides the weird smell, I found this to be a mediocre product. It feels nice when applying and then for a short while afterward, but I didn't get the feeling I was getting the all-day moisture I get from most products. On the positive side, this did help my oily face to stay looking matte for most of the day, but the matte look was at the cost of any lasting moisture, so after a few weeks of using this as my daily moisturizer my skin started to look dull and get a bit flaky.
I think this would be a good product for someone with extremely oily skin who never really gets dryness or irritation from not moisturizing. But to keep my skin from freaking out, I need some moisture, so I will not be purchasing this product again.

I found, actually, that the smell is quite pleasant, and it does have a rather light texture once it soaks in. For some reason, though, I felt that it was a bit too rich for my skin, which is prone to clogged pores. Perhaps it is better suited for normal-oily skin, rather than acne prone. The ingredients are quite natural, and the texture coming out of the bottle was very creamy, and not clumpy at all. I can certainly see how a little goes a long way, and, though expensive, one bottle will last for a very long time.

I'm surprised at the low ratings on this product as well! I use just the barest amount (I just barely touch the cream), & use it on my nose & chin - where my face is oiliest. It works wonderfully, & I think I'll probably have the one bottle forever. Perhaps people are using far too much of it? continued >>

Looking at the reviews it's hard to believe it's the same product. I have oily skin that always feels a bit moist or tacky to the touch. For me, this moisturizer was light-weight and absorbent. After applying my skin is pleasantly dry and stays shine-free longer. The only thing I dislike is the odd chemical smell of it, otherwise it works great for me!

This product made me break out more than any other moisturizer I've ever used. The consistency was thick and it clogged my pores...so I'm not sure why this is a producted targeting people w/ oily skin. I'm acne prone so maybe it will work better for other people. O yeah, this moisturizer smells like yams lol no joke.

I don't know if the bottle I purchased was defective or what, but my experience is exactly the opposite of what the others described. Following the instructions, I have put it on damp skin, and instead of absorbing, it forms creamy clumps that refuse to sink in. I have to wipe it off with a cotton ball. Very, very strange indeed.

So, when the heat starts here in Texas, almost any moisturizer you can name feels like too much on my combo skin. But, I do need something, and something LIGHT that isn't full of medicine for acne-prone skin. Ladies, we have a winner! This lotion is a dream come true for combo/slightly oily skins, especially in a warm climate. It is extremely light, but does make the skin look and feel better. No breakouts, no super-greasy forehead, no problems. Very lightly scented with a mild natural fragrance, it sinks right into the skin and is a pleasure to use. I've tried many a moisturizer (including all the Aubrey ones) and this is the closest to an HG (for summer) that I've found. It does have witch hazel in it, but it's not drying in any way. My skin feels smoother and my pores look smaller...yay!
The cons are that there is no SPF (but I wear makeup with sunscreen), and no special antioxidants or anything in it. So, I've resigned myself to using nighttime treatments that do all the anti-aging stuff for me. If you want a light, inexpensive, softening, pore-refining moisturizer...try this one and you won't be sorry! EDIT: Used for a couple months and I still love it. Like someone else posted, this can "ball up" if you apply to skin that is TOO damp. I use it on skin that is almost completely dry but still *a little* moist. Otherwise, problems can occur!

I have been using this product for years with the oily skin cleanser in Aubrey Organics line. This moisturizer works very well leaving skin soft and healthy.
