I like that they tried to make a product that targets controlling shine. I have very sensitive, acne-prone skin DUE TO EXCESS OIL. (I needed to clarify that b/c people get acne for different reasons) I found that this product does mattifies the look of shine on your face but does not control the underlying oil on your face. In fact, my face became itchy (the sign of getting new pimples) on the first day I tried it. Then on second day, I got a few fresh new pimples on my face.
If you have acne due to excess oil like I do, I highly recommend La Roche Posay's Effaclar Mattifying Daily Moisturizer. This is by far the best product I've used to date and controls the oil on your face (not just mattify the look of it) for about 10 hours (then I blot my face once with oil control paper).
I give Garnier B for effort but D for effect on my face.

I have been using this moisturizer everyday for about 5 years now. It settles nicely on my skin, controls shine, AND it actually moisturises! It doesn't leave my skin feeling slick, greasy, or sticky. It lasts all day and agrees well with my skin type. It doesn't make me break out and keeps my skin at a nice balance between matte and dewey - it's not too dull and not too shiny. :)

This moisturizer gives a nice cool feel to the skin. My face feels clean and pure after applying it. I find that it does keep my skin matte for a longer period of time, but I don't find it to control oil. This moisturier also helps keep my skin clearer, while providing enough moisture.
Even though it doesn't control my oil, keeping my skin matte, while providing enough moisture deserves a 5.

The scent is a little bit weird, but I found that it does generally help skin clear up, and it has a substantial texture that doesn't gunk up the skin either. I think this is a good drugstore alternative to Kiehl's acne moisturizer (though the texture is a little more liquid).

i have been using this moisturizer for 3-4 years now and i love it:) having oily skin, i was really on the fence about using a moisturizer, because if you have oily skin and put on moisturizer..it aint pretty LOL. However because this moisturizer has zinc in it, it has a really mattifying effect and my skin stays matte longer:) I mix it with my primer and put it on before i do my concealer and foundation! I wish the tube was bigger, because you're paying around 17 dollars for a tube smaller than toothpaste. Not complaining though, a tube lasts me a couple monthss:) love this!

While it does NOTHING for my oily-ness, it was cooling and soothing on my acne and helped prevent breakouts.
I won't buy it again only because I've found better products - but its a good cheaper option.

Been using this moisturizer daily for 3+ years and love it. I use it in the morning and it easily lasts till the end of the work day, I sometimes will sparingly re-apply if i need the mattifying effects for evening as well. It controls oil and shine extremely well, and since I don't wear foundation i've never had a problem with chalking. With this product using less is more, and while I don't love the scent it fades fast.

This is my go to moisturizer! I've been using this for over 3 years and I don't think I could ever use anything else! It instantly mattifies my skin and erases all trace of shine, all while giving a light touch of moisture. Nice! I like the cooling effect it gives when I put it on too.
I would not recommend this to people with dry skin, as when my previous cleanser dried out my skin this STUNG going on. I would definitely not put this underneath my eyes either! Other than that, a great product for those of us with oily/combo skin!

I actually like this product. It goes on extremely matte and light which is amazing for my very oily skin. I usually just apply it in the tzone and the matte look lasts for a couple hours until I have to blot. The only con is the horrible smell of the product.. not appealing. Overall, I would buy it again... just get rid of the stench.

I have never seen this product in the states. I just happened to be in Canada and was just wandering around a drug store and I ran across this moisturizer. I have only been using it for 2 days so this may be premature., BUT I have super oily skin and almost 2 hours after make up application I was super oily and make up ghost even with primer. I have tried almost EVERY kind of moisturizer known to man, this by far is the best. I rarely have time to touch up my make up and I didnt have to my face stayed matte for hours and was not nearly as oily, I blotted one time and my make up was still there. As of these 2 days I am very happy with this. I will update in a few weeks.

I bought this product to replace my favourite moisturizer, Neutrogena Oil-Free Fresh Moisture, which appears to have been discontinued. This lotion does what it says; it provides nice, light moisture for oily skin, and keeps shine under control, at least for the first five or six hours. Makeup seems to go on just fine over this, although I know others have stated that the clay creates a chalky effect.
There is one thing I don't like about this product: although it contains salicylic acid, which is an acne-fighting medication, this fact is not mentioned on the packaging. You have to look closely at the ingredients to notice this. I am assuming it is a very small concentration, but this moisturizer should not be used around the eyes, and can be quite drying in combination with other acne products. I think in the end I will use this as a day-time moisturizer, and buy something a little less medicated and mattifying for night-time.
I am also not that crazy about the tube; sometimes too much product comes out, and the packaging is not recyclable.

I just can't believe there is only a 55% buy-back rate on this product. I've purchased it three times I love it so much. Even my mom who hates moisturizer (like me) uses it and loves it.
My guess as to why? You have to have a certain skin-type for this type of product. Those who have this type may understand why it's a really good product.
Let me start by saying: I wanted to give this a fair trial run before submitting a review in haste. I've been using it for about 3 months now, I think that's enough time to get to know a product?
Low-down on My Skin: hyper-sensitive/reactive, very fair, acne-prone, oily in spring/summer, combo in fall/winter.
I think the reason I love this so much is because I am typically a "non-moisturizer" girl (we are rare, but we DO exist). I never understood why some people felt moisturizing was an essential part of their routine. My face never felt tight after washing- just clean. Being one with oily skin and all, I've always tended to avoid them because they all just made my skin feel "dirty" or "sticky" after cleansing and would never sink in. After which I would long for that matte feeling I get from just cleansing.
Then...
I decided to jump on the moisturizer bandwagon for the umpteenth-time with this because I stumbled upon this product and it sounded like something made for someone like me; moisturizer-haters, face-freaker-outers, you know- the minority.
The first time I tried it, I fell in love . It sunk right into my skin without leaving a trace. It mattified my eternally oily skin immediately. Literally, there was no shine on my face.
In the mornings I mix in equal parts moisturizer (Revlon ColorStay in Oily/Combo) to make a tinted moisturizer, set with powder (MUFE Super Matte Loose Powder, or whatever I have on hand) and my skin stays flawless all day.
My skincare regimen includes more products including others from Garnier. You can view it by checking out my notepad. continued >>

My favourite moisturiser of 7 years. The shine-control definitely doesn't last all day but i love it more for its mattifying effect - it helps to make my pores appear smaller. Kind of a similar (but not as great) effect as Clinique Pore Minimizer. Sadly it's been discontinued in Australia now ... i couldn't find it anywhere so i sent Garnier an email and that's what they told me. I just bought 3 tubes off ebay but that was the last and only batch i found :( Others here say it's not good as a makeup base etc, i don't use foundation so i wouldn't know, but as a moisturiser for a mattifying effect it is excellent.

This is a great moisturizer for someone that has Oily Skin or someone that is looking for a product that will make their skin mat. Light weighted, great for hot summer day's. Inexpensive good packaging! Gentle cucumber smell. Feels like it's gel! Very nice :)

This is the moisturiser that i have used consistently for almost two years now, because I find that on my combination skin, it does a good job of moisturizing in the dry areas and keeping the oily areas more matte. I use it in the morning and night, and I like that it has some salicylic acid in it that helps to get rid of any pimples I might have.
It is not that cheap, and it takes a little while to look for it in some drugstores, but one bottle usually lasts me from four months to half a year, and ranges from $8-13, and it frequently goes on sale!

When I first put this moisturiser on, my face magically went matte, immediately after applying. However, within a few hours it had worn off and my face was oily again.
I guess it is quite good at drying out your skin temporarily, but in the long term I found it pretty useless.
It wasn't that expensive - I paid about £2 I think - and I bought it because I thought it would be similar to this other moisturiser I was using (Boots TeaTree and Witch Hazel shine control moisturiser), which is incredible, but I was disappointed with the results.
I won't buy this product again because I like my Boots moisturiser a lot better.

I've had this product for about a week now, and I decided when I was in the drug store that I'd give this one a try. I have a really oily nose.. it's absolutely unreal and nothing can help make it not so oily. I used to pack on foundation to cover my blackheads *which have stayed firm on my nose for 9 years!!!*, but found my old moisturizer made my make up slide around within 10 minutes of applying my daily make up routine.
When I used this product, I find that my make up rarely slides, and yes.. I still get a little oily, but I won't go causing a slick car accident with my nose anymore.
I find the best way to use this moisturizer is to use it sparingly, since the clay will make your make up look very cakey. I let it set in for about 5-10 minutes before I apply my foundation (which I apply with the warmth of my CLEAN fingers!) Rub it in nice and good so it's not just sitting on your skin to slide around.
This moisturizer is very nice for my skin, oily T zone (super oily nose) but don't use so much that you can see it sitting on your skin. Sparingly is the key.

This moisturizer is clay-based and is therefore a terrible makeup base. It makes your makeup look chalked-on and cakey, giving you a mask effect. Having said that, it is a mattifying moisturizer and does give you that matte look without makeup on. I don't use it anymore as a day cream because I wear makeup when I go out, but it can be used as a nighttime moisturizer. I won't be buying this again though because I prefer using a serum before bedtime.

This is a very average moisturiser. I used to use it in the morning before I went out but I haven't found it to have any super shine controlling effects, especially for my nose. I've since replaced it with a simple tinted moisturiser.
Apart from that, my face doesn't tend to need moisturising but when it does, usually after I exit the shower, this isn't a very hydrating product for that purpose.
After my bottle runs out I don't think I'll buy another one. For shine control purposes I'm sure there's better ones out there!
