The smell of this product if KILLING ME! It is soooo strong. Smells like hippie incense and apparently I have an allergy to it! I'm all clogged up and stuffy. Horrible. Of course, wearing any perfume with this is out of the question. Can't wait to wash my hair and return it!

I tried many drugstore-brand hairsprays and was always disappointed. My hair was crunchy, lifeless and smelled like alcohol or even worse.
After all of these years when hairspray had made a really bad impression on me whenever I tried one, I went and bought the Aveda air control hairspray.
My hair is shoulderlenght and I have many, but fine hair.
The reason why I bought this: I wanted to spray a little all over my hair when I wear it open to soften the frizz, lift it and give some volume. When I braid my hair or make a messy bun, I use it to spray it on stray hairs or to give a little texture.
I went to an Aveda salon, explained my issues and the stylist recommended me this. I asked also for the pure abundance hair spray, but the stylist said it would be "too wet" for my purpose. I didnīt know what she meant, but she showed me by spraying it on her hand. Indeed this oneīs a "dry " hairspray. Just spray it on and you donīt have to wait for your hair to dry or something like this.
It smells heavenly, if you like the typical signature scent of Aveda. Otherwise, stay away. People complimented me on my perfume, when I was wearing this hairspray. Lol. Anyway it smells nothing like the typical hairspray I knew.
I can use it without having to wash my hair immediately when I come home. No greasy film, no residues, no flaking. Just soft hair. It is meant for a natural styling, that looks as if you donīt wear hairspray at all. It has a flexible, minimum hold. Highly recommended.

I love this hairspray. I like wearing my hair wavy and I wanted something that would preserve the waves, while still keeping it shiny, soft, and touchable. This did the trick! I was a long time fan of Sebastien, but not anymore. I'm not super crazy about the smell (it's nice, but a little strong), but overall, my hair looks fabulous all day and it brushes out easily. Definitely recommend, and will definitely repurchase.

One of the best hair sprays I've ever tried, but still not ideal. I'd give it 4.5 if I could. It's not a super-holding hairspray but it does give my fine/thin hair some texture and body after I blow dry. It does not make my hair crunchy, gummy or sticky like many other hair sprays do and brushes out easily. It is pricey for a bottle, but it lasts forever. Love the smell too, that sometimes is reason enough to use it :)

I have used this product for years and love it. It has the perfect amount of hold and volume for a natural look and applies evenly. I also have the travel version for my purse and suitcase. Smells great...and is one of the few hairsprays that does not irritate my scalp or face.

This is by far the best hair spray I have ever used. It is light and wispy and makes my hair stay in place without feeling heavy. I like the scent, but would prefer it to be unscented because it is too overpowering and clashes with my perfume. Fortunately though, the scent doesn't seem to linger. It's such a good product, I will repurchase.

I got a (fairly large for a sample) free sample of this from my local AVEDA store with a mailer/coupon. I am not much of a hairspray user, but this one seemed OK. It had a light-to-medium hold, a bit of stickiness but not awful. The scent is VERY strong when you first spray it (essential oils plus propellant) but it died down fairly well and did not seem to comete with my frragrance. Would I run out and buy a big can of it? Probably not - but for FREE? I'm fine with it.

There are wayyy better hairsprays that are less expensive. For the price this does not exceed expectations...it does not meet even meet them. After i style my hair, i lightly spray some all over and it doesnt do anything...so I have shoved it to the back of my closet...Would not repurchase....prefer Tony and Guy spray for hold and Loreal Elnett too

I'm in love with this hairspray. The smell is fantastic. The product offers flexible hold and works like expected. Unlike what someone else said, I cannot comb through my hair after spraying or I would lose effectiveness of the spray. I just spray it and then leave it. It lasts a pretty long time.

I just can't take the smell of this product. It is so overpowering that when I use it, it is all I smell all day. It completely overpowers any perfume I'd think of using. And it is the smell of incense from temples in India (I travel there frequently b/c my husband is from there). I just can't stand that smell! I suppose it is a good light hold hairspray, but I have found similar quality ones at the drugstore for a fraction of the price and without a strong offensive smell.

This is my new HG hair spray. It smells nice, not too strong, and you can brush out with it. It does give a flexible hold if you use it the right way, but I can see if I layered it on or used more in one spot, it would have more hold...so - I feel in charge!
It's a little spendy, hence the no 5 lippies - but I got a little guy of it - it was around $7.50 I think, and it lasted me 2 months.
EDIT: Changed my vote to "no" on the "would you buy this product again" part. It really doesn't do much to hold curl, etc. It is probably a nice spray for those who maybe have nicely controlled natural waves, or staight hair that you just want to tame a bit - but not good for styles.

Reluctantly bought this at the salon for $25. Was very skeptical but I am pleasantly surprised. I love this hairspray! It is a light hold, but layered provides nice volume & control while my hair remains soft. It makes my hair shine & with a textured/piecy look. I like the scent too. It is worth the $$ because it lasts a long time! I've had the same bottle for months now. continued >>

Aveda Air Control Hairspray is overpriced considering the quality. I didn't like it at all - it made my scalp super oily so I had to wash before I was ready. Also, my sprayer got clogged and started spraying every direction!?!? I can see if it did this after a while but it didn't take long for the nozzle to get gunky.
I didn't have a problem plunking down the $18 when I purchased it since I have always had success with Aveda products. Unfortunately this didn't work out for me.
I give it one lippie. It made me greasy, it is overpriced, the nozzle stinks and it does not live up to Aveda's reputation.

The best aerosol spray on the market, serious. Yes, it is a light hold... but thats what makes it so workable. The essential oils protect the hair from any heat damage from styling as well. And the fragrance is beautiful... I smile every time i spray it =)
I also use the Aveda Volumizing Tonic on my roots before I blowdry and my hair stlye holds all day without being stiff at all. LOVE IT!! BTW I am a hairstylist, and I do not work in an Aveda salon SO if I am willing to pay full price for this spray when I can basicly get any other professional product at half price... well you know it's gotta be great stuff.

Oh yuck! I love the scent of Aveda's Brilliant Medium Hold Hair Spray but was looking for the application and hold of an aerosol. I purchased the Air Control spray that works as I would like it to, but the smell is so overbearing and it's not a pleasant scent. I would love it if Aveda re-introduced this spray with a new fragrance-- Shampure would be great!

Best hairspray for me ever. I have very coarse curly hair. I usually leave it alone to be curly because that's what it really, really wants to be.
But every week or so, I attempt to beat it into submission and give it a blow-out.
I don't have a thyroid anymore, so I am incapable of regulating my body temperature. So there I am, drying my shoulder-length, very-thick, coarse, curly hair. It takes forever. Which makes me sweat. When I sweat, my hair curls. When there's a hint of moisture in the air, my hair curls. I live in Seattle.
But for one brief moment in time, there's about a 10-second window when it all comes together - hair is perfect, I'm not sweaty, and fog is not actually condensing inside the house.
Then I blast myself with hairspray. Every other hairspray is primarily water.
And there go the curls.
Air Control doesn't do this. If I can get to my hair before the moisture of my body or climate, Air Control will keep my hair straightened for most of the day.
I love this stuff and have requested to be buried with a can in each hand.

I love this hairspray, For the review below mine, I thought it had no control too but my stylist said your suppose to layer it on a bit, so what i do for my bangs and from layers is spray once, then spray again and it good for the entire day, i feel with other hair sprays i actually feel it on my face and shoulders, well worth the price, I am switching to aveda for everything.
UPDATE: i use this hairspray pretty much only on weekends and the little travel size was perfect, apparantly they dont make it anymore and the big bottle is around $40, way to expensive in this day and time, So i bought Urban Lines, Still on a pricey side i think it was around $15 but almost the same results as the aveda

Hate to be the one with the bad review, but...I am not impressed with this. Yes, the scent is incredible (my nine year old son loves it!). But the hold on my hair is pretty much non-existent. My hair is fine, but there is a lot of it. It is in an a line bob style, so I just need hold on the crown for some height. I use the pure abundance powdery stuff, and that works wonders. I don't know I will repurchase. I prefer aersol can type sprays and nothing out there really goes well with the other products I use. Will update if I change my mind.

very light spray, i use it for my bangs to keep them in place. this has a very strong scent, so definitely make sure you test it (the girl who sold it to me said "it's like perfume"). I probably wont buy again because I like biolage hairspray and kenra just as much and theyre a bit cheaper
