I didn't like this at all! First, I had to use a ton to wash my hair, since it doesn't lather well. I would imagine a full sized tube of this wouldn't last very long for me and my hair, which is currently down to my mid-back. Second, it's not very good at volumizing my hair, which felt dry and straw-like after I used this with the matching conditioner. I wanted to love this but it just didn't work for me.

I was really looking forward to trying the Pure Abundance shampoo and conditioner, since I love the hairspray in the range.
I never expected to get much volume from any shampoo/cond. combo, but this duo has actually impressed me a lot. Together they make my hair soft, light as a feather, shiny and much fuller looking with an amazing scent. Easy to comb through in the shower, no tangles! That's really rare for a volume shampoo in my book. I blow dried with the Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair and finished with the PA spray - my hair looks wonderful and feels great! I love that this shampoo seems to clean so well, since my roots are prone to oiliness.
This range seems perfect for my fine hair. Only used this one time, so I will update in a few weeks.

I had really high hopes - I had never used Aveda products before and I loved the smell and the idea of using something with mostly natural ingredients. I did love the texture of my hair and it did seem to give it some volume and lightness, however, after 2 weeks' use, I noticed that I started to lose quite a bit of hair in the shower. Then my scalp started itching horribly. I switched shampoos to one that I had never had problems with, and it seemed to calm my scalp down. I tried it again for 2 days and the itching resumed. I did like how my hair looked - it did give it some nice volume and it was shiny, but my scalp itching like crazy and the hair loss made me decide to stop using it. I did have a similar reaction to a L'Oreal Professional shampoo, so I'm thinking I might have a sensitive scalp or an allergy to a certain ingredient? I just wanted to write a review for others that may have had a similar issue.

i was really looking forward to fantastic results from PA, and bought the shampoo and conditioner- i am still using it, and like how my hair feels and smells, but get bumps on my scalp! several years ago i bought a bottle of Shampure, and broke out on the sides of my face- must be allergic to something in both. i have used the conditioner with other shampoos and did not notice any reaction on my scalp. it's too bad, because aside from causing sore bumps, i like it.

I bought this shampoo in conjunction with the clay conditioner and Phomollient Styling Foam, with the sales woman telling me that was the best combo. My hair is weird - fine (but abundant), can get greasy, and medium length, no color treatment. When I air dry, it can get wavy/curly, but I like to just blow dry/iron it straight because it's just too unpredictable. However, it tends to lose volume this way, so I was hoping for something to give it some extra oomph.
I was getting decent results, nothing great, so I kept at it. I was also using a cheap (like fructis) frizz tamer just on the ends to keep it under control a bit. I was getting kind of like some extra texture in the body of the hair which gave the illusion of more body. I wasn't sure which product it was, or if it was the combo.
FAST FORWARD about...2 weeks? I started getting what looked like little breakouts around my neck, upper back, and around my ears, and I was thinking it was some sort of major hormonal break out? Nothing I'd ever really seen before, and it was really bumming me out. Unrelated, I took a break from the shampoo, and the breakouts went away. I wasn't totally convinced the two were related, so I started using the shampoo again (didn't want to waste all that money!!) anddddd yep! Breakouts came back again, along with splotchy skin around my upper back/shoulders.
I surely will not be buying the shampoo again. I have to add I do not have sensitive skin and have never had any kind of reaction to any type of product. I seem to be having decent results to the conditioner and Phomollient only, although I am undecided if it's good enough to repurchase.

I've noticed when it comes to Aveda products- they excel in body care, but their hair products are either a great hit or a real miss.
It goes without saying that the product smells fantastic. However performance was lacking. The first few uses yielded reasonable volume, impressive shine, and manageable hair. However after only 1 week, my hair felt like it had a lot of build up in it, it made my hair look stringy, greasy, and very flat. I was not pleased with this one at all.
Happy Shopping.

A lovely product! Cleans my hair; helps to improve volume; smells fantastic. Be sure to use with Pure Abundance conditioner for maximum benefit.

I have the shampoo and the conditioner and all I can say is HORRIBLE! My hair felt like it had a weird, greasy film on it. I used this for about a week before I had horrible buildup. I had to use a clarifying shampoo THREE times tonight to get the build up out of my hair. It also seemed to make my haircolor bleed out faster. I will say a though it DID give my hair volume but in a weird way....it took my wavy hair and mad it really curly but really chunky and seperated it was weird....I think it might have been okay if I washed by hair and blowdried but I let my hair airdry and it make it clump up in sections or something.....weirdest stuff I've ever used....

love! great for my greasy fine hair. I do notice more volume, but nothing too significant. I used the conditioner also, but I notice my hair is much shiner when I used Aveda products compared to other brands, The smell takes some getting used to, very herbal, but i like it now.

I received this as a sample, and didn't expect much. My hair is long, fine and tends toward limp with little body. No volumizing shampoo/conditioner combo has ever made much difference - if anything, volumizing shampoo dries my hair out. I'm pleased to say that after about 2 weeks of use, this shampoo (paired with the pure abundance conditioner) is actually adding volume, lightness and movement to my hair! It smells like classic Aveda, which I find refreshing and herbal. Once I'm through the sample, I'm splurging for the full size.

I have thin, limp hair. I feel that this shampoo did help with volumizing some but it also made my hair feel so clean and fresh. I would repurchase if I wasn't broke right now lol :)

i absolutely LOVED how this made my very fine hair feel.. i had volume, bounce, and my hair never looked shinier or better.. Then the unfortunate happened :( after about 3 weeks or so of use i noticed my hair getting lighter and lighter.. it also bleached my medium brown extensions to blonde! Not only that but it made the bonding so brittle that it started to crack.. such a shame because i really loved the shampoo! Any ideas for a volumizing shampoo that won't strip a ton of color? PLEASE PLEASE let me know!

I was pretty disappointed in this shampoo. I mean, it's Aveda so you expect it to be great quality and actually add volume like it promises! I was wrong. My hair turns out soft and less static-y which is a plus, but as for what I was looking for [volume] Pure Abundance didn't pull through. Oh well.

This is a decent volumizing shampoo, but made my hair really static-y and I hate the smell. Will not repurchase but could work well for others.

This shampoo did nothing bad to my hair but absolutely nothing out of the oridinary either. I am always trying Aveda products hoping that they will actually be worth the money but I haven't found one product that has been.

The full name for this product is actually "Pure Abundance Volumizing shampoo" and that's why I bought it - I need the volume. I didn't get it!
I had already been using the Pure Abundance conditioner for some time and liked it (although mostly for the shine and not for the volume). I thought that if I used the shampoo that was supposed to complement it then there would be a better effect but, regrettably there wasn't. Hair nice and shiny but still thin.
This comes in a similar tube to the conditioner which isn't a brilliant idea as it's so easy to get them mixed up. I find the smell extremely unpleasant - it's quite medicinal, reminds me of a shampoo my family used to use when I was a child for dandruff. Fortunately, the smell doesn't linger on the hair after it's dry.
Whilst I will continue with the conditioner, I won't bother with this shampoo again.

This shampoo was okay. It actually dried out my hair, more than any shampoo ever has, and I had more flyaways than ever. I really didn't notice any more abundance, and I used it with the conditioner, phomiellent, etc.

I keep going back to this shampoo. It comes in a larger size with a pump and I love pump shampoos. (Those tall skinny decorative bottles do not do it for me.)
The shampoo thickens hair by adding acacia gum, so this will coat hair and a cleansing shampoo now and then will help. The smell is herbal--typical aromatherapy scent of Aveda. I like it. It really makes my hair shiny and thick.
My dh, who has thinner hair even than me, and it's going bye-bye, loves this shampoo! I left it in the shower once (I usually take baths, he showers) and he commandeered it permanently. I'm glad he likes it as then he USES it (hey, guy, water is non-toxic, unless you are the Wicked Witch of the West.) It fluffs up what he has of hair and he loves aromatherapy scents (uses Tom's of Maine deo for example.) So good for all the family.
I may return to this when I use up my TiGi Bedhead stuff.

This left my hair feeling dirty like it had a film on it. My hair was left dull and had zero shine to it. Returned it.
