I didn't like this at all! It smells nice, but it didn't do a very good job of either conditioning or volumizing! In fact, my usually soft hair feels rough and straw-like after using both the shampoo and conditioner from this line. Wanted this to work for me but it just doesn't.

I've never applied conditioner at the roots before trying this, but it actually works and makes my fine hair feel a lot fuller AND soft at the same time. I use it with the matching shampoo and hair spray, and my hair feels and looks wonderful. Light, full, soft, clean and shiny hair. This range delivers softness and volume, which I didn't think would be possible. Makes it a lot easier to style. Nice, thick texture that spreads easily and feels luxurious to use. Smells amazing. It seems perfect for my hair. I've only used it once though, so I will update in a few weeks.

I LOVE Aveda! I really do. I tried this on advice from one of their employees, after my hair started falling out drastically when my daughter was 2 months old (curse those post-pregnancy hormones!). It smells lovely. I like the idea of clay conditioner. With that said, the shampoo SUCKS. I don't expect it to lather like crazy (sulfates make those bubbles, and sulfates aren't good for your hair), but this stuff just sits wherever it touches and I cannot for the life of me spread it around. I often get uneven cleansing from it. The conditioner is fine. I like the thickness. I do not like the price. The price is crazy. You'd expect it to be conditioner made with diamond dust or something!
I'd recommend it for for fine haired people- not anybody with dry or course hair, or long hair. I imagine it wouldn't be conditioning enough, and you'd have to use a ton of the shampoo to really clean long hair.

I just tried the shampoo and conditioner today because I got a free sample. I did not notice a big volume difference at all, but it did make my hair very soft! The shampoo however does not lather well and you have to use so much of it, and it makes you pull your hair everywhere trying to get it to lather. So not healthy! The conditioner rinsed clean but made my hair feel not that soft right after my shower until it dried. The smell is amazing, but I was disappointed that it only lasts a couple of hours. But go get a sample and try it=] Things work different for everyone!

My hair is very fine, just above chin length bob, starting to grey and highlighted. My skin is very very sensitive and often reacts to shampoo and/or conditioner - no bad reaction at all with this. Most conditioners leave my hair flat or flyaway but this stuff is awesome. My hair is smooth and shines but feels bouncy and full of life at the same time. Smells nice but not overpowering.
I generally use this after scalp benefits shampoo (beacause I love the smell) but think I will have to try the pure abundance shampoo as the conditioner is so good.

I have the shampoo and the conditioner and all I can say is HORRIBLE! My hair felt like it had a weird,greasy film on it. I used this for about a week before I had horrible buildup. I had to use a clarifying shampoo THREE times tonight to get the build up out of my hair. It also seemed to make my haircolor bleed out faster. I will say a though it DID give my hair volume but in a weird way....it took my wavy hair and mad it really curly but really chunky and seperated it was weird....I think it might have been okay if I washed by hair and blowdried but I let my hair airdry and it make it clump up in sections or something.....weirdest stuff I've ever used....

I have very fine, thin hair that gets oily quick, so I'm usually very cautious when using conditioners, as they can make my hair look thinner and very flat. I really have to say this is a great conditioner that did not weight down my hair at all. Whether it adds volume or not I haven't noticed a difference, but it makes my hair nice and soft. I just place the conditioner on my roots and half way up my hair's length, never on or by the roots. It's not my HG, since that would be one that would make my hair nice and full and thick *lol, in my dreams, but I can always hope :) * The smell is really nice and herbally, I have no problem with it, I actually really enjoy it. If you have fine or thin hair, I'd definitely recommend to at least try this once.

I am always searching for a conditioner to transform my thin fine hair into a full bouncy head of hair. I have tried lots of brands from drugstore to high end and this is one of the best conditioners I have found in a long time. It makes my hair free of tangles, shiny and full of volume without weighing it down or making it look greasy. Usually after a few weeks, conditioners usually stop working for me but not this one. It smells pretty good, the typical Aveda aromatherapy smell which doesn't bother me. The price is fair. I only use a small amount so it should last awhile. I will continue to buy this as long as it makes my hair look this great. I also use the shampoo. I like it too.

I received this as a sample, and didn't expect much. My hair is long, fine and tends toward limp with little body. No volumizing shampoo/conditioner combo has ever made much difference. But I'm surprised and happy with this - after 2 weeks of use, this combo (pure abundance shampoo + conditioner) is continually adding volume, lightness and movement to my hair! I can actually condition my roots and still have volume, so my hair feels healthy and moisturized, but also light. Classic Aveda fragrance. Once I'm through the sample, I'm splurging for the full size.

UPDATE: Well, of course, just as soon as I move from the GWP to actually buying this stuff, hair dries out. On oilier hair this stuff may be a godsend; on "normal" hair, it may be very drying if used continuously.
This is a thick (though slightly creamy) conditioner, intended for fine and/or greasy hair. The thickening compnents would be the marshmallow, clay (aka kaolin), honey, and acacia gum: full ingredients at end of review. One of only about two Aveda conditioners that are completely silicone-free. Hair specs here: virgin, collar-bone-length, fine, thick, can go dry at the ends and greasy on top, irritable scalp (generally sensitive skin).
PA is dead easy to use. Washing hair with head upside down, shampoo hair (I didin't use the matching shampoo, but my usual one). Rinse. Wring out ends of hair. Apply PA (head upside down, again) - one can go down to the roots, it's non-greasing, and scalp is fine with it. Smells gorgeous, as is the case with most Aveda hair products: a slightly masculine citrus, herbal, earthy, spicy. Run hands and/or big-toothed comb through hair to distribute it - I found the PA worked very fast, no need to wait around at this stage, and hair was pretty detangled. I've been rinsing out immediately. No further products used afterwards, and no blow-drying.
The results: easy to comb out while damp, and once dry, hair is soft, quite smooth, and - the unexpected marvellous part - light and bouncy. It doesn't just seem but *feels* fuller. Without any cruddy gunky stuff at the roots, nor the hair strands being sticky. Not weighed down. No residue. Also, no fluffiness, flyaways, or frizz: hair isn't dried out. My hair got less greasy and didn't need to be washed as often. I've gone from washing it every day or two, to every two or three. This is great for getting out in the morning ...
Two problems:
(1) I found that after a certain time (about 2 weeks) my hair became drier and drier. Being able to have a couple of days between washes is one thing; hair being dull and definitely dry is another.
(2) it's extraordinarily expensive. Even by Aveda standards. Sure, it's fairly dense, so will last longer. Available in a 200 ml / 6.7 oz tube, and the biggest bottle is 473 ml / 16 fl oz, not the full litre, in a bottle than stands on its cap (I prefer a pump top, at the top...). The cheapest I've seen that for in Europe is about GBP 28.00 online; here in Ireland, the going rate is EUR 49.00. Meanwhile in the US I think it's somewhere around USD 36.00-40.00-ish? Hmmmpf.

I own this entire line and quickly realized that it was WAYYYY too dry for every day use. If you do use this on the daily, only aply the product to your roots. Use a more hydrating conditioner at the ends of your hair. The line as a whole I will not repurchase...Pureology's volume line is MUCH more hydrating than this one and IMO gives way more volume. The products, however, are good on their own but when used together cause dry and brittle hair..and as I just mentioned, pureology's is better overall.

This is a very good volumizing conditioner. It made my long, medium-fine hair feel thicker and bouncier. But in terms of moisturizing and detangling it isn't the best. Pretty expensive, but a good product for people with normal hair who are looking for more oomph.

I used this along with the pure abundance line, and the only difference I noticed was that my hair had more flyaways than ever. It definitely dried out my hair and I will not repurchase.

Does not work. Can't even pick through my hair after using this with the shampoo. My hair has never been so dry and damaged. Awful. Wouldn't use again. NO volume. only dry brittle fine limp hair. Blah!

I thought this product was really expensive, but it did an amazing job at volume, more than any other product I have ever tried. The only thing I don't like is the idea that it's actually leaving residue or clay or whatever it is, which has to be stripped with a clarifier. Because of this I only use it during special occasions and it's well worth it.

I bought this and the shampoo on a whim when I got a haircut. The first time I used it, I thought it was great. After I used this 3 or 4 days in a row, my hair felt so heavy and weighed down, yet it was full of static. I'm not sure how that happened. I'll use this once every few weeks in the summer if I want real body, because it did do that the FIRST time I used it. However, I can't use it regularly.

I used this conditioner for about two years, along with its shampoo counterpart. I couldn't use it every day, though, because it seemed to build up in my hair quickly (after only two uses)--so I alternated with clarifying products. I have very fine, long hair, but not a whole lot of it, and this conditioner seemed to make my hair look and feel much fuller.
The reason this stuff works, unfortunately, is that it coats your hair with a layer of white residue, which incidentally comes off on all your combs and brushes and does not come out completely unless you wash your hair with dish soap. The bottle advertises volumizing ingredients as Engish Clay and Acacia Gum--basically mud and tree sap. I have decided to free my hair from this stuff, because I am sick of having to strip my hair of the residue to be able to keep using it.

This is a quality conditioner for people with fine hair who want to add volume. It has a fresh scent that isn't overpowering and comes in a tube because the conditioner is really quite thick. It's a rather yucky browny grey colour but don't let that deter you. It does call itself a clay conditioner so I guess that's where they're coming from. Not sure if it really does have any clay in it?! It helps to add volume (although I don't find the results dramatic on that front) and also makes the hair sleek and smooth.

LOVE THIS CONDITIONER!!! I usually cannot use a conditioner because my hair is too soft. This conditioner is made for fine, soft hair. And, it works. I use it in combination with the complete Pure Abundance line. I would recommend using it with at least the shampoo. But I highly recommend using the complete line. I have searched for years for a good line of product -- have used Paul Mitchell, Biolage, Matrix, and countless others and nothing worked. I've always wanted to wear my hair in a long, layered, texturized look, but always ended up with flat hair if the weather is cool and body-less hair if the weather is humid. This line takes care of both these problems!
