I am really suprized with this product as I'm such a sunscreen snob. I bought this stuff at 7-11 the other day, a tiny tube for $1.50, as I had forgotten my sunscreen at home and was desparate. Not bad! It goes on very easily and absorbs very quickly. Its not terribly moisturizing, but it did not leave my face a greasy mess either. Usually I have to put on powder on top of sunscreen but not with this stuff. So far it has not caused any acne. I have read on this site that it does not contain UVA protection but the one I had does. It states it is "broad spectrum" and it containes Aveobenzone (sp?). This is UVA protection. I use it just for walking around the city so I don't know how it holds up to intense sun, but it seems to have prevented me from tanning. Smells good too.

I get the little pocket sized tubes and use this when outside working or playing in the sun. On more intense "sun" days I use the SPF 50 version. Anyway back to the 30. I'm a photographer who is often stuck out 10-12 hours in bright sunlight. I do wear long sleeve clothing and a hat, but sun still bounces up from the ground. I apply this every hour or two (as I think of it) and I don't burn period. It dries well and does NOT make a big slimy looking mess, which is also good b/c I'm in a lot of dust and that would create a nice mud layer. I absolutely love this and will continue to use it.

My go-to lotion (and my whole family's) for several years. I don't burn with this but still get tan. It goes on smoothly, absorbs fast and doesn't feel greasy. I also love and grew up with the smell of Coppertone. I don't use this everyday, just for beach/sun/outdoor activities. However, I recently read that this does not block UVA rays. I'll have to investigate this more but may have to switch (bummer since I have a stash of several tubes for this summer and it took me years of switching sunscreens to settle on this one. Argh!)

This goes on, stays and doesn't ball up when sweating. It would be perfect except it has that typical Coppertone smell. At the beach or lake, it's fine but I wear sunscreen year-round and the fragrance takes along time to disappear if at all.

Ugh. SO greasy and heavy that it felt like my skin was suffocating. It even led to a few clogged pores which then led to a few breakouts because it was so filmy. I left it on for about 7 hours to see if it would eventually soak in...uh no. It just stayed on top of my skin and was disgusting. I can't tell if it protects well but I do know that I will never ever wear this again.

I used this when I went on a trip to the Domincan Republic. I applied it regularly and still got tanned (but that could be because the sun is so strong in the Dominican). When I used the sunscreen on my body, it felt light, absorbed nicely into my skin and didn't leave a greasy feeling. I tried using it on my face too but it left my face extremely shiny - so I would recommend either getting a different sunscreen for face or using powder afterwards.

LOVE THIS STUFF! I mainly use it on my tattoo (which I have to protect from the suns rays) and it works great! Smells nice and light, like summer. It is kind of thick but rubs in pretty fast and easily. I plan on using this for a while!!

I put this ss on my arms only yesterday. The texture is ok, a bit heavy. All my kids noticed the smell and said I smelled funny. To me it smells like diaper cream! yuk! And this is only on my arms. After having this on a few hours, my arms became itchy and bumpy and today they are still this way. Awful!! I do not have very sensitive skin either. Be wary.

UPDATE 06/2010: I don’t know why I didn’t notice this before, but this sunscreen doesn’t contain UVA protecting sunscreen ingredients! I’d advice everyone to stay away from it.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: I purchased this sunblock while travelling in California, because my other SPF 20 lotion wasn't even nearly adequate. I wanted to buy a simple oil-free sunscreen that wouldn't contain mineral oil, silicones, paraben-preservatives or fragrance. Coppertone Sport SPF 30 was as close as I could get (it does contain fragrance). I used it for 2 weeks straight, both on my body and face, and it performed beautifully! Plus, the packaging is super-convenient. However, I did notice that my skin became slightly sensitized to it. Nothing too major, but my sensitive skin wasn't completely comfortable with it. The culprit might be the alcohol that the product contains. I'm not sure. But still, this is the best sunscreen I've used thus far. I doubt I'll be buying again, the main reason being that it's not available where I live, and because I'll continue to look for THE ultimate sunscreen for my skin. continued >>

I have the spray can version of this, along with the lotion and so far I love it. I went to the fair recently and didn't want to burn in the 90-degree weather and this helped protect me from getting burned. It goes on a bit sticky, but then sinks into skin well. I have not broken out on my body which is very good, but on my facial skin, its pore-clogging. Gives a wonderful sheen on skin though. The lotion smells a bit too chemical for my liking, so I make sure to use it only when I go to the beach or am excercising outdoors, while I prefer the spray can when I go to work.

This is my go-to sunscreen for my body, neck, and ears. I try to avoid using it on my sensitive, acne-prone face.
I work outside in all kinds of weather, sometimes for over 10 hours in high humidity and heat. I find that this is the most sweatproof sunscreen I've tried. If I've ever burned while using it, it's because I forgot to reapply after 5 or 6 hours. It is fairly waterproof, although I always reapply after swimming.
My only complaint is that it's difficult to wash off, and therefore I've had some breakouts of my chest and back. Overall, I don't think this is too bad considering I'm sitting outside for 10+ hours in sweaty clothes! I'd rather have mild breakouts than blistering sunburn.
My dad uses this while fishing and thinks it's the most sweatproof, waterproof sunscreen he's used.
I prefer the lotion to the spray. I love the ease of the spray application but because it dries so quickly, it's easy to miss a lot of spots. The spray application is very uneven. I got blotchy sunburn while using the spray at the beach. Plus, the spray seems to run out really quickly. I think the lotion gives the most bang for the buck.

Bought this recently because I used to use the 45 version of this stuff as my everyday sunscreen and i've never had any problems with break outs from it. No way is this crap sweatproof---i wouldnt trust it longer than 10 minutes if you're outside being active. But see...i'm not very active, and i dont hang out in the hot sun all day so i figured this one would do for the winter at least. I actually like the dewy look it gives, but it totally reeks (like chemicals) and it tends to burn. The thing that really sucks though, is that the 30 seems to be basically useless as far as sun protection goes. Red lights have recently become the bane of my existence; i dont have tinted windows and i can feel myself burning within a few minutes---getting stuck in traffic on the freeway always sucked, but hooman, it sucks even more when all you can think about is how sunburned your getting.... But maybe you're an agoraphobic hermit or something? If so, go for it; this one's got you covered on your daily walk to the mailbox.

I feel an obligation to review this sunscreen. This is the first sunscreen that I can wear that does not make me feel like I'm wearing sunscreen. It goes on like a nice lotion with no sticky, greasy or layered feeling. Protection is excellent, as I've worn it, my kids have worn it during sweat & swimming and we have no problem at all. Very happy with this stuff! continued >>

This sunscreen makes my face oily and greasy. i have oily skin and sensitive skin and this product makes me breakout. It does have good SPF, I look as if I didn't tan as much. I'll keep on buying this product because it helped with my rosacea and the redness. The SPF number is good too.

This sunscreen is light and well absorbing. I can use it on my face without a problem as well. No break-outs. Smells good, too. Beachy and light. Dries quickly and does not rub off or melt in the heat. I've been using it for years. At any rate, a wonderful above average product which I will purchase again.

IT DOES NOT MAKE ME SHINY!!!! I have a face that becomes an oil slick within minutes, but this is sooo matte and soooo refreshing. It feels like nothing is on. I love it!!! I had been using Neutrogena , but this is way better. Loveit!

Since you have to wear sunscreen, I would say this is the one to choose. I like its consistency which is fairly light and easily spreadable, but without being too greasy (you even forget you have it on). I don't find that I have to reapply at all, but this may be because I am not in the sun long enough to need it. I guess I wouldn't totally trust it to be waterproof. It remains on the summer checklist.

I have been using this stuff for the past few years when I go on my mini-vacation (three days at a NASCAR race), and I must say I love it! It really does protect my PPP skin. I will say, I normally have a base tan when I go on vacation, but this keeps me from burning. (If I don't have a base tan and just go out lily-white, I'll burn no matter what.) This stays on no matter how much I sweat or how many mister fans I stand under (ultra sweatproof and waterproof). It smells good, and it isn't too greasy on my hands. The only real drawback is the application, but I can deal with it after trying the spray version and finding it lacking. One other small detail...I think that this did make my eyes sting this year, but it may have been the spray. This is the only year I've had problems with (maybe) it stinging, and it was mild.

I just wish I could find the little travel sizes more often (the one with the carabiner on it, so I can clip it onto my pocket or bag). But, I'll just keep the one I have and refill it from a big bottle. As long as I apply at least twice while I'm out in the direct sun (and wear a hat), I don't burn. This, for me, is DEFINITELY worth the money and a HG product for summer.

UPDATE 7/18/07: I wore some of this when I went out boating on the lake in Missouri over Independence Day weekend. I had zero tan, other than the self-tanning lotion I'd been using on my legs. I was white as a sheet. I applied this and the only burn I got was where I missed a spot by my ear. I applied this a couple of days later when I went swimming in a pool and also got no burn. I got a bit of a tan, yes, but I didn't get burned. Neither of my kids did, either. Total HG for summer. continued >>
