this is a dusky, shimmery olive gold with a slight hint of khaki to it. thanks to merrysunny77's review i actually bought this over MAC's Patina! and i'm super glad i did.
to me, this acts as a kind of colour like 'Satin Taupe' or 'Sable', because i can literally just whack it on with my favourite outer v colour ('Embark') and call it a day! like those, this kind of shadow is still dark and enriching, but because of its sheen, still is luminous and flattering. but i really wanted a colour like this and it hasn't disappointed.
this colour also really compliments my brown eyes a lot, because it makes the brown a richer, darker, cooler shade (my brown eyes can look a little orange sometimes). it compliments also my hair, because i dye it a dark reddish shade.
this goes on like a dream. buttery, silky, pigmented and long-lasting. no complaints there. also, i wore this today with my 'Painterly' paint pot because i had a little more time to get ready, and this made it a little more pearly and rich than when i only used my TFSI primer!
i definitely recommend this!

Im getting rather hooked on Stila e/s. This is a lovely not too dark & not too light brown with a goldish sheen. What i like best about this is that i don't need to wear a base under it for it to last all day on me :) continued >>

Great Great Bronze Gold Brown shadow.
This is what I have been looking for. I also own Patina - great color, poor payoff but def a staple that is much lighter than this shade (and has a tad of olive duo chrome) but also totally neutral/cool. I had mulch (swapped it away..too red for my liking), woodwinked (more bronzy but love the buttery texture and staying power), and I also have the Mac Burning Ambition Illusionary Mineralized Duo.
Like the reviewer stated below..they are very close BUT I actually think Golightly is more gold less brown (only by a hair) but that difference is enough to show up as less brown on me and more gold - which I like. Also the texture of the Stila shadow is more buttery, has better payoff, and lasts longer.
I agree you don't need both - but if are able to get Golightly on sale (like I did for under 10 bucks!) and you have brown or blue eyes you must buy this shadow....even if you have similar ones..or get your hands on the MAC duo. Woodwinked, Smog and Tempting (to me those are like if this and Woodwinked had a baby), Patina, nothing comes close.
This is my favorite e/s and makes me want to wear e/s during the day again!....I wear as a wash for day and dress it up with UD Dark Horse at night. NC37, brown eyes

I came (((this))) close to buying Golightly and I'm glad I didn't, in the end, but I'll explain that in a moment.
Golightly is an absolutely GORGEOUS shade of bronzey, golden-tinged brown. The pigmentation and lasting power are both amazing and it's as smooth and blendable as most of the best Stila shadows. The only problem (and I'm so glad I swatched it heavily before heading home) is that is exactly the same shade as the brown side of MAC's Illusionary/Burning Ambition mineralized eyeshadow duo which is now, sadly, discontinued. Not "close", not "almost" but "exact" although Golightly seems to have better lasting power. So, if I ever manage to use up the brown side of that duo (I use it a lot, so this is likely), I would not hesitate to purchase Golightly as a replacement. If you are looking for a stunning brown shadow without any traces of red, get yourself Golightly.

This is a stunning color! just gorgeous. I wanted a bronze/gold/brown color so i decided to try a few at the mall to name some - Urban decay: Smog, Mac: Woodwinked, Tempting. Of all the colors I liked this one the best. It is deep and rich dirty brown bronze color that looks very unique compared to the others (maybe there is some sublte olive added to the shade but the olive is not at all noticeable).
Almost like a rich rich brown was churned in with bronze and olive with buttery texture and sophisticated sheen (no glitter shimmer that can look tacky). Golightly is similar to urban decay's Smog but definately richer in color and has more depth - has more sheen than shimmer.(try both the colors on each eyelid & you will notice golightly just stands out! - in color, texure & finish . The last time I went on Stila's website this was out of stock. Makes me look stunningly sexy.!
I have to try some more Stila colors (this was my first Stila eyeshadow), prefer these to Mac. Also Stila eyeshadow texture is just like butter - glides through in one stroke not like you are putting some powder or chalk on lids like some others.
Other options: Urban Decay Smog, Mac Tempting continued >>

Great for dark blue/green eyes! The perfect brown bronze shade to brighten the eye but not too dark to wear to work nor too orange or red. Very nice staple.

This is such a pretty bronze/neutral eyeshadow. It is similar to Urban Decay's smog eyeshadow but not as dark and bronze. Golightly seems to have a little more gold in it than smog does also. It has such a beautiful shimmer to it as many other Stila eyeshadows. I can use this quickly all over the lid without any other eyeshadow and it looks amazing with my brown eyes. I have even found myself skipping eyeliner! I use UD primer potion first as I do with all eyeshadow to make them stay. For reference I wear MUFE HD foundation color 118...used to wear NC20/25 in MAC

My all time favorite eyeshadow. Easy to apply, long-lasting, a highly pigmented but elegant color.

If you have brown eyes...you MUST have this color in your kit. It is the perfect browny, khaki, greeny neutral with some shimmer...Many lines have produced dupes, but none have quite hit the nail on the head the way Stila did with this one. I imagine this would equally flatter greeen and hazel eyes as well. Gorgeous!

Absolutely favourite/staple crease shade.
Would buy this over and over.

I bought this in the Artist's Inspiration Palette. The packaging seems flimsy..but I handle my products pretty gingerly. Ladies that want to haul this around may want to exercise caution.
Gorgeous dark neutral, doesn't require a tanning booth to look good. Goes on buttery smooth and stays put. Looks awesome on my NC20/25 skin with Kitten. This would look stunning on pink-toned girls as well.
I'll keep buying..that is, if I ever run out!

Go Lightly is currently my favorite eyeshadow and it has been so for many years. It is a medium colored gold that does not have any orange tones in it. It is not a bronze. It is heading towards the family of antique golds, but does not have green in it. It is highly pigmented, soft, smooth and lasts forever. Warm and cool people can wear this color. I consider this a beauty staple in my collection and I have a ton of eyeshadow! Also, this is a dupe of MAC's "go" eyeshadow from the starflash collection, except stila's is better.

Product - Golightly - the shade formerly known as Holly Golightly - is a neutral toned, shimmery dirty bronze shade with an almost metallic finish. This is a great shade for my AAB/NC25 coloring as a crease color or as lower lid wash. Well pigmented, smooth texture, easy to work with and blend.
Comparisons - Heard this was a good dupe of Jane's Eyezing in Magical Mushroom (discontinued), which is one of my all-time favorite shadows. In the pot, Magical Mushroom is slightly more golden, and Golightly is slightly darker, more brown in comparison. However, on my AAB/NC25 skin, Magical Mushroom wears slightly darker, richer brown with golden undertones, whereas Golightly leans more towards taupe undertones and is a smidgen more metallic. Overall pretty darn close though!
Packaging - Available in Stila's usual silver cardboard pot or as a 35 mm refill pan.
Overall - Who knew a neutral-toned brown could be so wonderfully unique? continued >>

My favorite eyeshadow ever. I'm on my second pan, after buying my first one in the early days of freshman year of college.
It's the perfect color to highlight my eyes- brownish-copperish with flecks of gold. Sometimes it can almost skew green, which is fine by me.
It has a lovely, smooth texture and the shimmery gold flecks are miniscule. I'm not into glittery shadows, but I welcome shimmer. It seems to pair really well with neutral taupes, tans, and creams.
When this pan is gone, I will be going to get a new one yet again.

This may be the most essential eyeshadow in my collection. Something about the tones in this particular brown make my eyes look amazing and the shadow is so easy to sweep that I find myself wearing this quite often. One thing I do not like is that packaging, it is too soft to be kept in a plastic clamshell. I am surprised by how much I like this shadow, I really only bought it because of the name. I like to wear this with Kitten as a highlighter on the brow and the inside corner of eyes. So pretty!

It's a nice brown color, nothing overly special about it. It has a nice shimmer to it and is suitably dark. I've used it to darken the outer 'v' of a bronzey eye look.
A great color to have as it is quite classic, you can't really go wrong with it. It has all the pluses of the other Stila eyeshadows in its texture and ease of application, and works great with oily lids.
I don't really like the packaging it comes in, but other than that it's great!

Great Stila shadow with all the usual pluses.
Some say this shade is "greenish".
When I swatch Too Faced Totally Toasted, Stila Kitten/go lightly, and YSL Heavenly Beige/Astral Brown above each other Too Faced has a pink undertone in both beige and brown, Stila is yellowish/golden in both beige and brown, YSL beige is silvery and its brown is somewhat dark greenish/khaki (cool in short, as opposed to Stila).
Stila's brown is quite unique (I own no Mac brown though). As I said golden brown, I can see myself use it sparingly on the lid, in the crease, under the eye.. this may be a colour I can use on the entire lid and smoke out for a bold look.
Very flattering and nice.

All Stila eye shadows are soft and silky and sadly can break easily in their paper packages. I purchased this in Barcelona with Kitten as a highlighter. On its own I don't love this colour, its a classic brown. Some say its a bronze yet I don't see it as a bronze I see it as a classic brown. Its a brown but it has undertones of olive. It wasn't great on my skin I'd have to say so I mostly ended up wearing Kitten until it crumbled in its package one day into a powder! I call it a sophisticated shade and blends well with other Stila shades. I like Cloud and Urchin better than Golightly. I haven't used this in 3 years but I remember it creasing loads like most Stila shades....yet I wasn't using a primer back then. I still won't give this a go, there are warmer colours out on the market and Olive colours aren't nice on my dark brown eyes.

Yes, this is a medium brown shadow with shimmer. While that may sound boring, this baby is still above average in my book. I find that brown shadows can be too red or orange on me, and this one is...well, truly neutral! Almost taupe-like but still brown. Explained in a different way, this is a cool, not a warm brown that is a real neutral standby. I really don't have to think when I use this color. Like most Stila shadows, this is shimmery, but not OTT, and great as an everyday neutral. Blends beautifully and sheerly. I personally think it is hard to find a brown that isn't too orange or red on me, so this one is a keeper that I intend to repurchase
