i bought this on a whim.... and i will probably NEVER BE WITHOUT IT... this lotion is fantastic... the smell which everyone has mentioned is amazing and not overwhelming but the richness of this lotion is nothing short of spectacular! i have very parched skin especially in the winter... and while it's summertime and my skin is friendlier.... and even tho i'm religious w/the sunscreen.. my chest is a mess... sun damaged & i'm battling crepe & creased skin in that area. this lotion, even on my sensitive chest area is really great at smoothing, moisturizing and keeping the moisture in... i havent broken out on my chest & i've used it for a week straight... at LEAST. i don't like that there's dimethicone in it, but that's the only ingredient that i have any real 'eh' about. my arms and my legs feel great also... i'll use this year round. between this & cerave, my skin has never been better (and i have a tendency toward eczema). love it. love it. love it! continued >>

I am obsessed. Have wanted this for a long time but couldn't justify the price when I could buy the massive bottle of Alba's Very Emollient Body Lotion for only a a few dollars more than this. I finally broke down and bought it and I'm so glad I did. I don't use it as an after sun lotion because I try to avoid sun damage in the first place. I've just been using it as a normal body lotion. I wonder if they changed the formula because I also find it much thicker in consistency than some earlier reviewers (when you squirt it out of the bottle it retains the shape of the bottle opening, so it isn't liquidy at all).

The mind blowing aroma of this stuff has already been well documented. But what amazes me is fragrance is the last ingredient listed. Now, I'm no expert but I would guess that a good portion of that great smell is actually from the other ingredients since products that smell this good (or this strong) usually list fragrance very early in the ingredient list (not saying all the smell is naturally occurring, of course). If I apply this before bed I wake up with the faintest scent of vanilla on my skin. Love it.

Makes my skin silky smooth, though probably not moisturizing enough for winter. It also doesn't make my legs itch, which is a weird thing to say but my legs seem to have a plot against me ever using a good smelling lotion. Most fragranced lotions make my legs itch like crazy. This doesn't.

Everyone has been fairly accurate in describing the scent -- it's spicy and tropical, almost like a chai latte made with coconut milk. I could see it working equally well as a tropical summer scent or a cozy winter scent. It's not excessively girly, so if you want your boyfriend/husband/son to treat his sunburn, just tell him he will smell like a pirate. Plus, it's a good boy-magnet scent.

I disagree that the consistency is very light. It's labeled as a lotion, and for a lotion, I think it's nice and thick. It's much thinner than a typical body butter, but since it's not labeled as one and it's mostly for summer use, I think that's fine. It has some helpful antioxidant ingredients to help your skin recover from the sun damage, which is nice. I haven't used it in super-heavy sun conditions yet, so I'm not sure how well it actually *does* prevent damage, though.

I do plan to repurchase this. Neutrogena has a good after-sun treatment as well, and I think they perform about equally well in terms of moisturizing and healing skin, so I alternate them depending on whether I want to smell tropical (Alba Botanica) or soapy and clean (Neutrogena). continued >>

Mmm! This smells really good. Not super-strong, which is a nice change from many of the strongly scented things that I use! It's more liquidy than creamy, so it is definitely on the light side, consistency-wise, as well. I was trying to place what the scent reminds me of, and then I realized, I recently had a Cinnamon Kit-Kat on a recent visit to canada, and this smells really similar to that IMO. Loved the kit-kat and love this!

Pure caribbean. It makes me feel like really, really well fragranced pirate because of its earthy undertone. It's like a blend of cream mixed with cocoa, cinnamon, spices and coffee. The lotion seems like it should be a light brown color, but it's a creamy white. I can tell the bottle will get greasy. I just use this whenever I want, not necessarily after sun, because I like the smell so much. There was a B&BW scrub called Island Hot Spot that smells just like this.

This is pretty thin in consistency, and while it blends well, I'm positive this won't be enough in the winter. I may need to buy the Kukui Nut body butter, but I get the while that one is thicker, the smell is more marshmallowy than Caribbean. continued >>

I was recently introduced to this product while getting ready to go on vacation. After spending the day in the sun I used this lotion and I loved it! It smells great and strong at first, but once absorbed by your skin, the smell dissipates which is nice so you can wear with your favorite fragrance. It's creamy (not greasy) and has lots of great ingredients.

Wow. My boyfriend actually introduced me to this stuff and after one use, i was addicted. A creamy custard-like lotion that smells like coffee, milk, cocoa, and vanilla without the fake sickly sweetness that VS and BBW lotions have. This one is so heavenly and light, with a whipped texture that absorbs like a dream -- no residue, no soapiness, just a smooth, coffee-scented afterfeel that sinks in with only a few strokes -- a great creamy lotion light enough for summer and anytime you want to lotion up and get dressed quickly with more body than a gel. A total winner.

I first saw this at Longs Drugs while passing through to get sunblock. I hesitated to buy it at first because I wasn't sure what people thought of it and it isn't that cheap-$14- for an "after sun" lotion. Come on, I could go to Target and a giant tub of "after sun" lotion for $5.
After reading the rave reviews on here, I thought I'd give it a shot and I'm actually really happy with the product!
It not only smells delicious, it isn't slimey and greasy like other lotions and doesn't irritate my skin! My boyfriend has very fair skin and even he really likes it!
The packaging is really summery and is perfect to put in my beach bag. I don't think I would need more than 1 bottle for a year or two, but I'd re-purchase (hopefully at a lesser price than $14)

This is the best after sun lotion. Very soothing and smelled great without stinging very sore skin. It moisturizes skin and stays on really well in the sun. I love this lotion and have recommended it to sunburnt people high and low! TRY IT!

This is one of the few lotions that I have used every last drop of.

I think the smell is divine -- coffee with cream -- but natural and not "perfumey." Last summer it was my favorite lotion to put on after a shower. The lotion has a rich texture; it leaves your skin moist and slightly scented, and it seems to have a cumulative effect -- using it every day I saw a difference in my skin's moisture level and smoothness in a week.

I don't use this lotion in the winter. In my dry climate, it just doesn't have enough "oomph" to moisturize my skin during our dry winter months. However, I will be buying another bottle for summer use.
One caveat: I wish the bottle had a pump -- the squeeze bottle is somewhat awkward and gets greasy with use. I used to rinse it off every day -- which caused the label to get nasty looking. But even if I have to transfer this lotion into a "vanity" bottle, it's worth the extra trouble.

It smells like a summer sun product, is light and absorbs quickly and cleanly, and has a great ingredient profile. I gave it a second chance after initially being repelled by the strong smell, but now I dilute it by using it on just-out-of-the-shower skin. The smell can be fun, but I still think the fragrance could be taken down a notch.

This works very well. Last year for Carnival (in Trinidad) I got burnt for being out in the sun so much. This year, much to my chagrin, I only got one shade darker - although I was out of the sun more (but still, I wanted to come back with a nice tan, lol). I used this every night after bathing from the week before (On Carnival Monday and Tuesday I am out in the sun pretty much from sun-up to sun-down). The smell is nice and pleasant, not too strong.

Its like a frapuccino by the beach for your skin. Its an experience as much as it is a moisturizer.

I don't sun myself, but I do love this stuff. A medium-weight summer moisturizer. Don't know if it would be heavy duty enough for winter. And for $10 a bottle, you can't go wrong. High percentage of natural-sourced ingredients is just icing on the cake. Yummy smelling! EDIT Sept/06: I have been trying for 2 months to reorder this from my health food store, does anyone know if it's being discontinued?

i really like this lotion. i use it a lot of the time, even if i've not been out in the sun. i recently got too much sun and i think it really soothed my irritated, dry skin. smells great too....not like a potent coffee smell...a pretty subtle smell, plus it fades pretty fast. the texture is not too light, or too heavy. i like that it's pretty natural and organic too. about $11 at whole foods.

I used this as a tanning-bed lotion a couple days ago, worked great. It contains quality ingredients and has a lot of natural sun-protective and antioxidant ingredients, such sunflower, sweet almond, kukui nut, macadamia nut, coffee, green tea, aloe, vitamins E, A, D, B5, shea butter, and more. It also has caffeine and coffee which stimulate circulation. Smells great, like a cappucino. The plastic squeeze bottle has 8.5 oz. Even if you do not get sun exposure, the Alba Kona Coffee After-Sun lotion is a pleasure to use - it spreads easily so you don't need to use a ton, smells delicious, and softens the skin.

I bought this on sale at a local co-op (for $5.99), and I'm quite glad that I did! The smell has been well documented by my fellow reviewers: light, coconuty, mocha scent. It also contains caffeine, which might account for the unexpected firming effect.
So definitely pick up on this one if you're a coconut mocha fan. It's good as a light "summertime" lotion, though not heavy enough to withstand the chilly Chicago winters.

i love this stuff. the smell is divine and that's with a stuffy nose! i can't wait to smell it all when my nose is 100% clear!! to me it smells kinda nutty, kinda sweet coconutty mocha (like someone below described it). the consistency is similar to the alba hawaiian cocoa butter lotion....medium-light. i wouldn't use this for heavy duty moisturization, though it does a fine job that i can see myself using this when i need light everyday moisturizing. i reach for my alba hawaiian kukui nut body cream when my skin is reeeaaally dry.
