I swapped for this a long time ago and never used it till now that im noticing brown marks on my jawline from old pimples and sun exposure im assuming. Well in my quest to brighter skin i reached for this. I liked at first it left my skin smooth but then dry and that was weird cuz i dont get dry anymore not even with black soap, well after 3 days using it only at night the skin around my nose has become dry, sensitive, and crusty!! I have not worn makeup yet but when i do this fridY i bet it will be a pain. Im gonna stop using it. I rather find a brightning mask or moisturizer there longer on skin so would do a better job than a cleaNser in my opinion.

I did not like this product, the glycolic did not help my acne, it made it worse and did no help with exfoliation. made my skin extra sensitive, i was always red. a waste of $35.switched to cerave foaming cleanser(great product).

The AHAs make my skin smooth as marble and over time do brighten and help even skin tone. I can't use this every day, more like 3x per week at night, but it's a nice wash to use to switch things up. It does smell like licorice but it's not that bad.

this didnt brighten or lighten my skin but it leaves me glowing everytime i use it ( due to the AHA in it). i read a lot of reviews that this stuff is drying but it hasnt dried me out at all but i do have oily acne prone skin. it doesnt foam much but i feel that you get your moneys worth bc the bottle is huge. also, the licorice smell is tolerable even for me although i hate licorice bc its faint and doesnt last on your skin.i like how the bottle is a clear plastic, and it comes with a cap for when youre traveling.overall, its a really good cleanser.

I love this cleanser. I have mature normal to dry skin with some loss of brightness. This cleanser is very gentle, yet it's a wash-off and my skin feels clean. Over time I did notice a brightening effect. You use a tiny amount and one bottle has lasted me a long time. It has a permanent spot in my cleanser rotation.

The only reason I would not repurchase is because you do get a lot of product and you only need a little bit each time you wash your face. Even though I have oily skin, I find it drying and causes my skin to flake, so I used to use it once a day or every other day. I originally bought it for evening out my skin tone b/c I had very rough skin, as well as acne and post acne scars. I also had redness in some areas, so I wanted a cleanser that could improve the texture and even out my complexion, as well as keep pimples at bay.
It does make your skin feel squeaky clean and really does brighten so you look more awake and refreshed. I used it for quite some time and did see improvements, but it didn't even out my skin tone as much or as quick as I had hoped. I do use it every now and then when I feel like my face looks dull or rough, but moisturizing is a MUST with this cleanser! Also your skin will be more sensitive to the sun so using SPF is highly recommended. I think this cleanser works, but not alone... it needs to be used in conjunction with other products which would speed up the process of renewing skin, fading scars and evening out skin tone.

Cost me 43 canadian dollars for 250 ml.
First off, a little goes a long way. I was given a small sample of this and it lasted me over three weeks.
I have normal to dry skin.
Concerning acne, I believe this is the product that has kept all of my acne away! I'm so so so pleased. I had quite mild acne..around 4/5 pimples. And i haven't had any for a really long time! including that time of the month.
I've also gotten a lot of compliments. "Your skin is so soft! Its glowing! I was also born with darkness around my mouth, now gone. The tiny little brown spots i had from old pimples, gone. I get AMAZING results from this. It is the only thing I use in my skincare to sort of improve my skin and it works like an absolute dreaam! Amazing amazing amazing. I now know what it's like to have soft glowing perfect skin.
Alittle bit of a con is that it mightbe a bit harsh or some people. I use it only at night. I avoid my eye area. But this hasn't aggravated any of the rashes under my eye and forehead (always get this around winter) and i have normal to dry skin. I believe this would work for EVERYONE. this cannot come more reccomended from me. Worth every penny.

This is a pretty good cleanser and gets rid of all grime without being too drying. This has no brightening action since the acids are not on the face for long enough but it does help dislodge dirt. It foams the right amount and is easy to wash off. I do however find this really inconvenient to use due to a lack of a pump. Its a press down nozzle which I then have to squeeze out, and when i do so I get water everywhere since I have already wet my face. For the price, I dont expect physical inconveniences to get in the way. This is a typical example of how packaging can deter customers and due to this I wont repurchase. This is good but not that good for me to put up with the bad packaging every time. I dont see how it cant come with a pump in the box and if it did, I would buy again.

I love this cleanser! I was worried that it might make my face too dry based on the reviews but I must have really tough skin because this cleanser just gives me a nice clean and soft feel. I even use the DDF 10% glycolic acid toner after and my skin doesn't feel like it's burning or being overly dried out. I have light skin that tends to scar when I get a breakout. Despite the fact that I've tamed my breakouts, my skin still looked dull because of old scars and some small sun spots. This cleanser really helped brighten my face in only a couple of weeks of using it just at night with my Clarisonic. I decided to write this review today because I was at Sephora today after I worked out with no makeup on and a sales clerk asked me how I got my skin so perfect and glowing. I felt like I noticed a difference in my own skin, but after having others comment on it, I know this cleanser must really work!

First mistake I made with this product is getting it in my eye...it stings! A small amount does go a long way in cleansing and brightening the skin. After using it, my skin glows and spots and acne scars are fading fast. I haven't seen much of a difference, yet, with blackheads or whiteheads though.

The mix of glycolic and salicylic acids in this formula is great: definitely takes off excess skin and anything dull from the upper level. This is a great foaming acid cleanser to rotate in a few times a week for a skin pick-me-up. I've been using it at night and it's wonderful. I wake up with amazing skin.

This strikes me as very similar to Paula's One Step for Normal to OIly except this has a very slight fragrance (licorice) which personally doesn't bother me.
I was one to my second bottle of Paula's and all was going well but I decided to give this a go because I had stupidly allowed myself to come under attack by the suns rays which exacerbated my melasma. All it took was 20 minutes on an overcast day and all my good work over the past 12 months was gone. So I am back to square one.
I may use this in conjunction with my derm's hydroquinone concoction but I'll be trying to limit that to one a week as it aggravates my skin if used more often.
I have high hopes for this stuff but at worst it's a decent cleanser so nothing lost nothing gained by trying. Will update.

I've used this product for about two weeks now and am really loving it. I had been using Purity by Philsophy though felt like it left an oily coating on my skin and felt like it was clogging my pores. My skin is oily on top but dry once the oil is rinsed away. It is uneven in texture and has several old acne marks. My chin is acne prone and breaks out often... usually in cycles and in the same spots, its def no fun! This wash has helped a lot of these problems so far. It makes my face feel smoother and the skin tone appears more even. I use it at night when washing off a full face of makeup and it does just fine in removing it. It's important to use a moisturizer afterwards though as it is very drying and makes my skin tight and even flake in some spots. The bottle is big and you need very little to wash the face, this will probably last me forever... Ive used it two weeks straight and you cant even tell it's been used. I will definitely repurchase this product and look forward to trying more of the DDF line. The thing I like most is that it has cut back on my breakouts and has unclogged a lot of the pores on my chin and gotten a rid of a lot of the extra flakage and debris on my face that I thought was just a part of my skin type.
UPDATE 04/24/10 - My staple cleanser. I rarely break out when using this product in conjunction with DDF's benzoyl peroxide gel, used to get cycstic acne on chin regularly. Def HG!!

I bought this cleanser because I sort of wanted to. It was totally a compulsive purchase and boy, do I regret buying it.
First of all, it's pretty expensive ( I paid over $45 CDN). 2ndly, it leaves my face feeling very tight everytime I use it. Initially, I thought that this tightness will be gone once my skin gets familiar with the product but it never happened. Also, my skin was very much clear for several months before I switched to this cleanser but I have been breaking out badly and I believe it's due to this product since it's the only product I have changed in my skincare regime.
Also, while it did give me sort of a glow, it did not fade my acne marks at all. Therefore, it does not deliver on the promise it claims.
I shall NOT buy it again and would strongly recommend you to sample before buying it. I have used Neostrata cleanser in the past with much better results as opposed to this one in a fraction of price.

I had been using all sorts of whitening brightening products with no success before I found this. This cleanser when used with DDF Intensive Holistic Whitener has not only faded all my age spots and the dark skin spots I got from the sun but it has evened out my whole face and reduced the size of my pores. Its expensive but worth it....

I've been using this product for almost two months now and I really like it. I have sensitive yet oily skin and this product doesn't irritate my skin, but it does dry it out...It gives you that painfully tight feeling. I have two patches of acne scars on my face and this cleanser is helping those fade nicely. My skin feels very clean afterwards and it washes all my makeup off. And about the packaging; it's a HUGE bottle and it's clear so you can see exactly how much product you have left.
Edit March 13th: Now that my skins all cleared thanks to antibiotics and RXs I've started using this again. My skin is still as oily as before but this stuff is very drying. I always apply a moisturizer afterwards; this is some serious stuff. But it really does brighten up my skin and gives that after botox glow.

I love this cleanser. it certainly "brighten" ppl always ask me why i glow and i think its this.
i have acne scars [really bad ones] and its faded sightly. i dont expect it to fade completely because i use to have very bad acne. but this helped. it is drying, therefore i only use it at night.
and it seems expensive but i've been using my 1st bottle for 10 months now. so it last for a while!

I've been using this product for a little over two weeks. I've already seen an improvement in my complexion. It is very drying though! I use this twice a day but I make sure to concentrate mostly on the areas that need lightening. I'd also suggest using a rich lotion like cetaphil or aquaphor on your eye area after using this. One night I forgot and my eye area was so dry and itchy!
-EDIT 9/12/09 Initially I really liked this cleanser, I was curious about glycolic acid. I decided to try the Glycolic cleanser(GC) after my Brightening Cleanser(BC) finished. This summer my skin started breaking out really badly due to the amount of makeup I had to wear for dance. I was starting to give up hope when on a whim I decided to switch back to my BC. If only I'd done it sooner! Within 2 weeks my skin cleared up! Without a doubt this is my HG cleanser and I will never be without it! Although I liked the GC, its nothing compared to the BC.

Seems to be working great so far but HOLY CRAP, do not get this stuff in your eyes or it will burn like hell. I am not a big fan of the black licorice scent either but I can overlook that because the results are nice.My skin feels very clean, but not stripped. Havn't noticed any brightening effects yet but I hope too...UPDATE- Ok ladies, no bueno on this one, especially not everyday. My skin looked so parched after a few days, it wasn't pretty and I was only using it at night. I may keep it around for a once a week deep cleaning or just use it as a really expensive body wash..If you have dry skin, please be forewarned that this product will most certainly dry you out more so have a good moisturizer ready UPDATE UPDATE 5-12-09: AND now it's breaking me out too (took about 3 weeks to see this damage I am dealing with now) dropping another lippie

Pros:
Effective
Cost
Ingredients

Cons:
Potentially drying

Conclusion:
The best cleanser, hands down. It not treats pigmentation concerns but it also address blemishes and skin texture. I've tried many skin brightening products, and this is one of the few that delivers. I've purchased it twice in the past as the needs of my skin changed. But everytime I've gone back to it, within 30-days my skin would be transformed. I used it with my Clarisonic with a normal brush and it was not drying even during one winter. But if some finds it to be so, I would suggest only using it once per day.

Alternative:
Nothing!
