I really wanted to like this, but it didn't work great for my skin. I have a brown skintone and am always looking for a sunscreen that doesn't leave a white cast and isn't greasy but does offer good protection.
This sunscreen by Vichy offers good protection (I used it in the winter) and doesn't leave a white cast at all, but is really greasy on my skin. I have combination/oily skin, so this may have something to do with it. Whenever I put it on, it left a greasy and shine glow upon my face. It never faded away, if I put it on 8 in the morning, the shine was still there 6 in the evening. On my mom the shine is much less visible and more a radiant (and prettier) glow, so this differs per person! I also have to say I use quite a lot of sunscreen (1/4 - 1/2 a teaspoon) to get the full protection, but I really believe that is necessary if you want to protect yourself against the sun.
Even though it works and is easy to use, it is too greasy for me to use on a daily basis unfortunately.

If I had to explain the consistency of this product, I would compare it to a thick whipping cream. The fact that it is somewhat liquidy enables relatively easy and thin application. However, it is still feels quite greasy and leaves a sticky film on your face. So, as long you are thinking of a typical holiday sunscreen and not expecting a light facial moisturizer with SPF, you won't be disappointed. A plus goes for the combination of effective active ingredients that should give you a good protection, but a minus goes for fragrance (at least the version that I have). I have recently bought a facial sunscreen by La Roche-Posay (another L'oreal company) and for me it is virtually the same product, except that it is fragrance free.

MY THOUGHTS: Looking for a sunblock that provides full spectrum protection, my boyfriend purchased a 150 mL tube of Vichy Capital Soleil SPF 30 from Shoppers Drug Mart on sale for $19.99 CAD.
The packaging consists of a white opaque tube with a matte orange flip cap to ensure chemical stability. Meanwhile, the creamy lotion, with a hint of fragrance and alcohol, leaves a slight tacky white cast on the skin. Note: to reduce the tackiness, use oil blotting sheets or equivalent.
Vichy Capital Soleil uses Mexoryl®, L'Oreal's trade name of a number of UV absorbers, specifically drometrizole trisilozane (Mexoryl® XL) and ecamsule (Mexoryl® SX). The water soluble Mexoryl® SX protects against UV wavelengths in the 290–400 nanometer range, with peak protection at 345 nm. Unlike avobenzone, ecamsule is a photostable organic UVA absorber and doesn't require a photostabilizer to prevent significant degradation in light. Meanwhile, the oil soluble Mexoryl® XL is a broad UV absorber with absorption peaks at 303 nm (UVB) and 344 nm (UVA).
ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: Octocrylene: 7%, Titanium dioxide: 4.15%, Avobenzone: 3%, Drometrizole trisiloxane (Mexoryl® XL): 2.5%, Terephthalylidene dicamphor sulfonic Acid (Mexoryl® SX): 0.5%.
OTHER INGREDIENTS: Aqua, Glycerin, C12-15 Alkyl benzoate, Alcohol denat., Propylene glycol, Cyclohexasiloxane, Nylon-12, Stearic acid, Potassium cetyl phosphate, Triethanolamine, Cetyl alcohol, PEG-100 stearate, Glyceryl stearate, Dimethicone, Ethylhexylglycerin, Poly C10-30 alkyl acrylate, Aluminum hydroxide, Acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, Silica, Tocopherol, Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, Disodium EDTA.

I been using this product line for sunscreen for 8 years now. I first bought it during my vacation in Corsica. I keep coming back to it. It is safe, it keeps your skin protected and you still get tanned. I use this stuff ( 50 SPF) for my kids too, never sunburn. The best thing I like is that this product line doesn´t contain stuff that can cause allergy or skin irritation. My HG SPF

Oh I really like this sunscreen a lot. Every year I try a different facial sunscreen and every year I am disappointed, they all seemed to either break me out or make me very oily. I tried Clarins, Polysianes, L'Oreal and Avene as well as various cheap drugstore varieties each one worse than the last. But this year I discovered Vichy and I am just so so so so pleased! It works great for me, it hasn't broken me out so far and the finish, well an ad in the pharmacy claimed it had a *satin finish* and that is just exactly what it gives, not a dry powdery matte finish but not greaseball either. Just radiance and a bit of a glow, very natural looking. If you are greasy already perhaps you might want to use some powder over top of it, I don't find that necessary however. Sometimes if I want to have a flawless complexion I will use foundation over it, usually in the summer I use mineral foundation and it looks perfect over this sunscreen, no cakiness or streaking at all. The only gripe I have with this perhaps is the taste, it really tastes foul and bitter! You might be wondering what am I doing licking my face?? But it's just that since I spread it on my face I get some on my lips too, and then I can't avoid licking it a bit!

I'm not sure yet if I would or wouldn't buy this one again. I've been using it for a couple of weeks and so far its ok. Hasn't made me break out. Not greasy. I can see the product separating in a while. I don't want to buy something online and pay crazy taxes and duty (at least not yet). EDIT: I am beginning to like this. It doesn't make my skin greasy or feel tacky. I don't look ghostly white and it is easy enough to wash off. I may venture and try something different but for now I'm liking it.

I never really managed to use much of this product- so I won't comment on that- only perhaps that for the time that I did use it- it was fine. Anyway- I would normally use this cream on the beach- but its texture changed within a couple of weeks into something that looked like milk gone bad. To be more specific- there was water with some thickened creamy bits coming out of the tube. I threw it away- but bought another tube the next summer- and the same thing happened over again.

Matte? Matte? Definitely not matte. Rather rich, but absorbs well, without too much white residue. (Then again, I'm pale.) Causes no itching or stinging per se, but it doesn't feel comfortable somehow. Maybe it's too heavy? Or stinky? I don't know. I have to use powder every time I apply this, just to hide the shine, and *that* makes my face feel... cemented. And then I can't wait to get home and wash it off. Now that winter's here, I haven't been using it at all -- I just don't like it, despite trying to -- so I don't think I'd buy it again. Ingredients:

This is for the lotion. Made me breakout, but thats expected since it contained TiO2. Had no fragrance and was not oily. I have very oily skin so thats a benefit. However, after a year, this one formed colloids. Not worth it for $20.

A really greasy and oily cream that doesn't sink into your skin for at least 5 hours. And it does leave a white film on your face due to the titanoxide. If you sweat during the day the face feels really greasy but if you don't sweat however it does sink in after a couple of hours and leaves your skin feeling really soft. I guess I have tried worse SPF creams but that doens't mean that this is a good one. I won't buy it again. I need a more dry-to-the-touch cream.

This is a review for the SPF 30 Creme for face and exposed areas, like the review below.
This stuff smells. It has perfume - a pretty strong and not too pleasant sweet scent - and it's very obvious that the perfume is there to cover up a somewhat rank smell exuding, I suppose, from one of the active ingredients. It's understandable that Vichy wants to cover that smell, but I really think I would have preferred the straight-up chemical stink over the chemical stink imperfectly concealed by a pretty nasty perfume stink.
That said, this is a good sunscreen, well adapted for facial wear. It's not a great moisturizer for my skin, but I realize that I can't realistically expect that. It does it's job - it keeps my fair skin protected and reasonably pale, it provides a good base for make-up, doesn't break me out, and doesn't leave a thick film of grease on my skin. It's not particularly expensive, either.
I liked Eucerin Age Protecting Face Cream SPF 25 better all around, but it's not available here anymore (bastards!) and this is a good replacement. continued >>

I'm not sure abou the others, but I'm rewieving the Capital Soleil SPF 30 cream for face and partcularly exposed areas. As many others, I have been struggling to find the right product ever since I've learned about the importance of a daily dose of sunscreen on the face. Although I only wear sunscreen from approx. mid April to sometime in October, I have had a lot of trouble finding a good one. Most products are very very oily and/or sticky like glue; real beach products. My regular face cream for sensitive skin does not contain SPF, and the ones that do, do not work well with my face (not to mention that the face creams with built in SPF mostly offer only low protection).
Then I found this baby! This is a marvelous fantastic SPF cream for the face, that actually delivers what it claims. On the tube it says: Moisturising. Matte Result. And mark my words, it delivers both! Not only is my face now proctected, but it is fresh and well taken care of all day long, really nice and velvety to the touch (I do not put anything under it)! Forget about looking oily too; this baby is in fact matte! Also, it does not irritate my sensitive skin, sinks right in and smells divine. Adding that it offers maximum UVA protection and can be bought at a decent price, we have a winner. I'm so glad I finally found this. Definite repurchase, in fact, I might try other Vichy products as this is my first (other than a sample or two). Great, highly recommended by me.

I am reviewing the Gel Creme. Unfortunately it left me feeling too oily and I had to return the product. Went through a lot of sunscreens trying to find the HG. I'm now using the LaRoche Posay UV 30 in the round canister with the little pump or Elta Block 45 and they both fit the bill for me.

This is an awesome sunscreen! It moisturizes well, isn't greasy, and is reasonably priced! I had no breakouts as a result.
Unfortunately, the company belongs to L'oreal, which does animal-testing, so I won't repurchase. The product itself is totally awesome, though!!

I love the high UVA and UVB protection and it has a pleasant fragrance(I think it smells like carrots!!), but I do prefer unfragranced products. It feels uncomfortable to wear because it makes me so greasy! It also contains denat. alcohol which is supposed to dry out skin. So I won`t purchase again.
