I LOOOOOOVE body products! I have a closet full of soaps, oils, creams, lotions, exfoliants, etc. No matter what I use I always come back to this lotion. I love it, especially during the winter. I slather it on and let it absorb while I brush my teeth and my skin is super soft. Sometimes, if the winter is really bad, I put on coconut oil or Neutrogena oil right out of the shower - I air dry and then I put on this lotion and my skin is silky smooth like a baby. Years ago, even when I exfoliated and put on lotion I could still see ashy scratches on my skin - I haven't seen that since using this lotion. It has a flowery - (jasmine, hyacinth - not sure which) scent which may be off putting to many. I like it.

I looked to this as a less stinky, less sticky, more natural AHA lotion than Am-lactin to alleviate the KP bumps on my arms and the rough patches on my legs. Picked up a 12oz bottle at Walgreens for $11. I'm not crazy about the scent; smells a little too soapy/floral (like old ladies) but I way prefer this to the sour milk scent of Am-lactin. It is also definitely less sticky than Am-lactin: 30 mins after using one product on each arm, the Am-lactin arm was still sticky (though no longer stinky) and the Alba arm was just supple, not sticky, and still retained its scent (meh). It moisturizes pretty well, but I will update this review in a couple weeks on whether or not it's improved my KP. If so, the price will have been worth it!
Update 6/16/11: I'm gonna bump this up to 5 stars--my KP is almost completely gone with just 9 days of daily use!! I think it sinks in and is most effective when I shower and use a body scrub right before applying this at bedtime. Note that I've only used scrub twice since I started using the lotion, and I've also started taking a vitamin A supplement (sometimes KP is a result of vitamin A deficiency)

I have been using this lotion for over five years and I still love it. I've tried others, but I always come back to this kind because it is so wonderfully moisturizing yet not greasy--it seems to really sink in instead of sitting in a layer on top of my skin. I live in a very dry climate and this lotion keeps me nice and soft. They recently changed the formula, which is noticeable in the consistency--it went from being pretty thick and creamy to being more watery, but as far as I can tell, the moisturizing ability is the same, so I'll keep buying it. I use several pumps every day to cover my whole body, plus extra mini pumps for hands throughout the day, and a big bottle of this lasts me 2-3 months.

Just tested this body lotion. The texture is luxurious yet easy to apply. Doesnt feel like glue like what some others have commented. haha. The Jasmine flower scent smells strong initially but after 10 mins it lingers off to a soft flowery scent that is rather nice. Do try it. I bought it at iherb.com which is rather inexpensive.

This used to be a favorite lotion. Everything was wonderful: mostly natural ingredients, sweet almond oil as the #2 ingredient, lactic acid to exfoliate gently......the scent was too floral, but I dealt with it....
Why did they have to change the formulation?!?! It still works fairly well, but glycerin is now the second ingredient. I like glycerin just fine--I use glycerin soap for my face and body--but I like the richness of an oil in my body lotion and the texture isn't what it used to be. I'm actually being too nice. It now has the texture of Elmer's school glue, which is nasty to spread on your skin.

This lotion is my HG lotion!!! Im a lotion freak, and after I found this at my local Target I havent used any other body lotion. It comes in a huge bottle with a squirt top. The price is $15 bucks, but the bottle is so large that I can go months on the same bottle, even putting it on my whole body probably twice a day. The formula is light yet very moisturizing, I can put it on throughout the day and not feel sticky or heavy. The scent is extremely light and never gives me a headache. Its like a delicate floral scent. The AHAs was the selling point for me, it has gotten completely rid of the bumps on my upper arms, and my skin has never been softer! I tell everyone about this lotion, thats how much it rocks!

This lotion is OK -- the scent is pretty and although it's strong at first it wears off soon enough. Even though the consistency is kind of thin, it's surprisingly effective. But when I first put it on I have a slight itchy sensation -- don't know if it's the fragrance or the AHAs, which I can be sensitive to, but because of that I won't buy again. I prefer Alba's Cocoa Butter Hand and Body Lotion, but if you aren't too sensitive you might like this. (By the way, it smells just like "Triple Lanolin," which was a cream my grandmothers used to use a long time ago!)

HG HG HG! Okay so I have very sensitive skin and everything makes me break out in hives or a rash or something else horrible. Really, even dove soap is too strong for me. Also, I have dry, itchy, flaky winter skin and no lotion seems to help . . . until I found this little gem! What a great buy! It truly helps with my KP on my arms and keeps my skin nice and soft all day long. :) The only thing is the smell, which I think is nice. My bf also thinks its nice but says that it makes this lotion a girl-only lotion. Oh well! More for me! :D
One last thing, don’t use this on your face. I did and it gave me three huge pimples. Ugh, this is definitely a body only lotion.

This would be the most perfect thing on earth if their was less scent and no parabens! Other then that I love it and use it bi-weekly as a treatment and in the winter weekly. I also mix in oils or my nude body lotion!

This is my go to body lotion. Every now and again, I try new products and I always find myself going back to Alba. All of their lotions are great - moisturizing, pleasantly scented, long lasting and easily absorbed. This particular lotion is supposed to smell like Midnight Tuberose. I say "supposed to" because I don't always think it smells that way. Some bottles smell different than others, but either way, the smell is still very light and non-assuming. This lotion also takes a little longer than some of the others to sink in, but once it's in, it's in. No sticky residue, even when I exercise or it's hot outside. Whole Foods offers this lotion in their bulk purchase section, so in the long run it can save you some money.

This at night and the daily shade formula in the day have made my rough, dry skin soft and smooth. The KP on my arms is 90% gone (!!!!!!!) and my skin feels plump and hydrated to the touch. I have been searching high and low for the perfect lotion and this is fantastic. I don't mind the light jasmine smell, and it fades quickly although i wish it was the same scent as daily shade, which i LOVE. The texture of the lotion is pretty light and very easy to spread, so at first i didn't think i was going to be adequately moisturized. Wrong! My skin drinks this in and i especially love the AHA's to exfoliate, since my skin makes more skin like its getting paid. Also smoothed out my rough winter feet in time for summer. :D

This is great! I was a little concerned at first that the AHA percentage wouldn't be high enough for the KP on my arms, but I can feel the acid tingle. A huge relief from the AmLactin searing that brings tears to my eyes (and not in a good way).
This absorbs really quickly without feeling greasy, which is great for summer (when I'm most worried about KP on the arms.) I loathe body lotions, as they make me feel like fried chicken in the summer and take forever to sink in. This could be why folks with severely dry skin don't like it, but if you have mildly dry skin and need an exfoliating lotion, this is HG material.
I have no idea what people are talking about with the heavy/horrid smell comments. I can't stand most perfumes or fake body lotion smells. Yes, this is a floral, but a clean soapy natural floral, which mimics my favorite, unobtrusive perfume scents.
All in all, a win-win for me.

this is a great all purpose moisturizer that has satisfied even the toughest of critics...my better half. he spent most of this winter searching and searching for something to soothe his dry skin without breaking him out, and finally settled on this alba formula. he ran the gamut: eucerin, vaseline, neutrogena, johnson's, even olay. nothing works like this alba lotion!! and i do love the scent, very light and pleasing when you get out of the shower...even a good lotion for the face at night, i have found. and i like that it is more a of a natural formula...makes me feel better about using so much of it.
pros: great scent (i like it a lot), moisturizes extremely well, hypoallergenic!
cons: can't really think of any

This is my HG body lotion. Moving to a colder climate gave me a case of the winter itch and after several failed attempts this gave me relief and softened my skin. The smell is a little strong, I agree, but it does go alway quickly, at least on my skin.

i'd read that this was reformulated, so i had hopes that it would be more effective than the same stuff that i'd tried years and years ago, and with a better smell. the description of a floral scent didn't seem like it would be that bad.
the scent is same as it ever was. i'd never been able to pinpoint what the fragrance really was, but a friend described it as "old-lady floral", which seems exactly right. it fades considerably after it sinks in, but still. i HATE the smell. i had read that it was jasmine-ish, and it is very much not.
moisturization isn't particularly impressive--it's disappointing as a maximum dry skin formula. it might be okay for those with mild dry skin, but it's useless for me. i've been putting on layer after layer and it's completely insufficient. i haven't noticed a difference on flaky skin one way or the other.

I am going to introduce this review with the disclaimer that I am very picky in my skincare products, mainly due to my skin being so sensitive/finicky. I had high hopes for this lotion to smooth my rough dry skin (it contains alpha hydroxy acids), but my high hopes ended up in high disappointment. Dry skinned consumers please note- this is a very light lotion and not maximum strength as the name suggests. This actually made the kp on my arms inflamed and red, and after a couple days of regular use I started getting big dry patches, which I never have. It seems like this kind of defeats the purpose of putting lotion on now doesn't it? I have been using this for about a month and am going to retire it to summer use on my legs only. One caveat-I actually like the light springtime floral smell. It smells most like honeysuckle to me and last a couple of hours before it totally dissipates.

This is one of the best lotions I have ever used. The moisturizing is superb. How do I know? When I shower 24 hours after application, I can feel the lotion on my skin still. I don't know if there are other lotions that do that, but in my experience, it's quite rare. I do hate the strong fragrance though, it's a rather strong jasmine scent that isn't for everybody. If they could make this lotion in an unscented version, I'd repurchase forever.

While this isn't a "maximum" dry skin formula, it's still a beautifully-scented light moisturizer. It's good for humid days in summer, when you're body gets a little sticky. It's not greasy, so your skin just soaks it right up, and you'll smell like jasmine. I wouldn't recommend it to people with extremely dry skin. I thought it would be nice to put on right after a shower, when my skin's still a little damp. That didn't work out, the water acted as a barrier and I had streaks of white on my skin after it evaporated. I bought the big, big pump bottle on sale for $8.99 at a natural beauty products store that's going out of business. I don't know if I'd buy it again for full price ($17), but I'm enjoying it very much.

ARGHHH!!! Okay...I have to start out by saying I have super dry skin with eczema flare-ups in the winter. I should have known better but, I thought this might work well given the title "Max Dry Skin..." WRONG! It's a decent lotion but not moisturizing enough, even after I added some jojoba oil to it. It feels good at first but dries out after a short while. Also, the smell...hmm. It's not bad if you like florals but I don't really care for them. Not bad with my body chemistry but definitely not the best match. The smell is pretty strong and I found the smell lasted longer than the moisturization! Maybe a good summer lotion for those of us with very dry skin.

i picked this up at marshall's for $4.99, thinking it was unscented--boy was i surprised when i tried it! =p has a very strong jasmine scent--i don't hate it, but it's not a scent i would seek out either. fortunately, it fades quickly. a good thing, because i love this lotion. it's very smoothing and moisturizing, and not at all greasy--my skin sucks it right up. love it! leaves me feeling smooth and soft. this is AWESOME as a leave-in hair conditioner, too--i rub a dime or quarter-sized amount through my ends. leaves my hair extremely shiny and soft. the scent works perfectly with my oscar blandi jasmine serum. love it!
