8/8/2011 EDIT I Tried using this differently and upped it from 1 to 3 lippies.
I apply a generous amount, I use warm water, I massage it in with my hands and then I use a exfoliating pad (and warm water) to scrub a little. Next I use w clean washcloth and warm water to rinse off. Then I use Aloettes sensitive skin toner. This takes off all makeup, dirt, etc and leaves my skin fresh, soft and dewey.
I do love the smell of this product. It is rose water scented. But that's about it.
I can't really say that this cleanses. It is o.k. at removing makeup. But it doesn't remove itself. I use a warm washcloth after massaging a few drops into my skin. I'm left with sticky skin which doesn't seem really clean. Even when I use the Sensitive Skin Toner after the oil cleanser, I am left with sticky skin. Not soft and dewey, sticky like there is a thick sludge still stuck on my skin.
I tried this several times, including in the shower and still got the same results every time.
I ended up washing this off with Burt's Bees Orange Oil Facial Clenser which both removed the makeup and the residue from this oil cleanser.
I can't really recommend this product.

I hate to post a negative review of this product....I wanted so much to like it but I just didn't! And it's not because I'm unfamiliar with cleansing oils either - I've ordered and used several bottles of DHC's cleansing oil (which I REALLY like) so I was excited to read the reviews here in hopes of finding something a little less expensive but with the same cleansing power.

What I do like about this is the packaging. While small, the bottle is a cute frosted glass bottle with a pump top and cap which keeps it sanitary and I like that. Unfortunately, that's about all I like about this cleanser.

What I don't like about it is the performance and the smell! Other reviewers have stated that it's chock full of essential oils which it is but, dang, this stuff smells like old lady to me! Now, if you like the smell of roses, then take what I'm saying with a grain of salt but I just do not like the fragrance. And, after a few days of use, I felt this was breaking me out which could also be the amount of essential oils in it...who knows. All I know is that I was bummed because of my dislike for this product. I just couldn't get it to work well and not stinkify my face no matter how hard I tried. Sorry but this is on the swap list.... continued >>

I love this stuff! It definitely removes ALL makeup gently, and it doesn't leave any greasy residue behind. It just leaves my skin really nice and soft. I also love the container; it's a very clean pump bottle. The scent is so nice, too. I've tried DHC and hated it. I will continue to purchase this wonderful product by Aloette.

The best remover I have ever used -- it does all the things you want oil to do to your makeup but does none of the things oils sometimes do to your skin. This does not irritate nor clog pores. I have taken to applying it with my fingers then washing it off with a lather of Isomers Double Duty Cleanser and a washcloth and am amazed at how much of a busy day comes off in the washcloth!

The absolute best makeup remover I have ever used. Didn't irritate my rosecea, smells fabulous, removes all the dirt and make-up (even stage make-up and permanent marker). Gentle enough to use on a child that migh accidentally get into a perm. marker ;) Leaves my skin feeling soft and refreshed. I even use it when I'm not wearing make up. The price if good and it comes in a very clean pump. Couldn't ask for anything more.

I've been using this on and off for the past year and it makes my combination skin soft but not oily. I have many products that I rotate between for removing makeup and cleansing my face and that is the reason I don't use this every night, but when I return to it, I'm always pleased. In Canada, you can find this on the TSC website (www.theshoppingchannel.com). It's not always in stock; I find the stock is replenished (including any new products) a few days before a show.

I love this, you have to get it! It's absolutely amazing. I tone afterwords and barely have any makeup residue. It also moisturizes and leaves your skin soft, which is hard to find with a cleanser. Don't think of it as 'adding' oil to your oily skin, think of it like this-the only way to cut an oil is with an oil. One example of this, I spilled gasoline on my pants and the only way I could get rid of it is to wash them in baby oil. And it actually worked. The theory that you need an oil to remove an oil is very true and has worked for me. I haven't had a pimple since using Aloette skin care products, and I use this as my facial wash.

What a find! This stuff has a dual purpose...to clean the face and to remove makeup. I only use this oil on the days I wear makeup. It does a superb job of removing every last hint of it and I don't have to 'spot wipe' either. I just do the entire face with this the same way as I would if washing with a regular cleanser. It comes in a frosted glass bottle with a dispenser pump and I only need about 5 or 6 squirts in order to do the job. When I finish washing with this, I then do a final wash with Mario Badescu's Enzyme Cleansing Gel. My face is left wonderfully clean, soft, and radiant after this treatment. I ordered more bottles of this to stock up. This will get lots of use and I am very happy to have found it!

This is an AMAZING makeup remover..Gets off every speck of makeup, waterproof and regular.Smells wonderful..Chock full of essential oils...You can indeed use this to cleanse with though I have to rinse quite a few times before I'm happy with the final result..Can leave you feeling slightly greasy..But if you have dry skin this could be a relief

This is an amazing makeup remover! It completely removes any and all eye makeup and keeps my eyelids from feeling dried out. I know it's designed for all-over use on the face, but I'm much too much of a chicken to actually use it that way! (Old habits die hard, right?) It can be a bit hard to use when it gets all over your hands, but after a bit of practice using it w/a cotton ball you get the hang of it! Strictly as an eye-makeup remover, though, I will continue to repurchase. This stuff is amazing!

I like this product. It easily cleans my waterproof eye makeup. However, compared to DHC - it is more expensive, and after rinsing, it is still quite oily (DHC rinses clean). The only reason I would not buy this again is because of the residual oil and the price - DHC rinses cleaner and is cheaper, for (i think) more product. My skin is much clearer though, combined with sweet oil (generic olive oil) as a moisturizer - I really like the oil cleansing regimine.

I finally read the directions after using this product for about two weeks. I have used in the past cleansing oils by Beauticontrol, DHC and Origins. And all of these cleansing oils breakdown with water. But I have had excellent results with Aloette by first, applying the cleansing oil all over my face, then washing it off with very warm water and a wash cloth. There was not any makeup or oil residue left on my face. I don't think I would have been satisfied applying it to my face wet and then just rinse off. Some of the other reviewers who have been disappointed with this product might try using it with a wash cloth.
