I have very oily skin (age 36) and use this product in the AM, when my skin has accumulated a lot of oil overnight from my heavier moisturizer. It works wonderfully! I am very impressed! I apply about a dime-sized amount and apply it on my face. I only ass a bit of water to help spread it around. The scent is nice, a bit like menthol- something you'd expect from an organic product. I let the cleanser sit on my face for a minute or two, and then rinse off with warm water. It leaves my skin feeling healthy and clean-without over-drying it (thereby causing it to produce more oil). It does not lather because it does not have any lathering agents in it (aka harsh chemicals). If used properly, it is a wonderful product. I highly recommend it! :) Remember to give the bottle a good shake prior to using since some of the ingredients will separate affecting its effectiveness.

Odd texture, very mild results - no difference made to my skin & I disliked the medicinal smell. continued >>

Love this! I had my doubts at first because of the noxema-like nature of it, but I have been using it for about a month and my oily acne prone skin is soft and not flaky. While the "noxemaness" took a little while to get used to, I eventually did and now I love the pick-me-up it provides!

For me its only OK cleanser.
Pros: organic, no irritation or breakouts, nice feeling after
Cons: does not do its main job - clean. I would wash my face 2 times with it - the make up is still on - ( while that never happened with other cleaner), the consistency is weird and while washing it feels weird as if you are using just a cream.
I wound not buy it again.

Ever since moving to Texas, and going to esthetics school my skin has changed for the worse. I developed painful cystic acne, with papules, pustules, and my skin has become oilier yet at the same time, dehydrated. Using other products that I thought would help (Garnier Gel Moisture Cream, ahem) ended up making it worse. Using the "pharmaceutical/professional" products my school offered didn't help, and I was feeling hopeless, stuck with this horrible skin, until a classmate of mine directed me to Aubrey Organics, and my skin has dramatically changed. This cleanser, with a refreshing tingle, that yes is comparable to that of Noxema, has worked wonders at normalizing my skin once more, so that I am not an oil slick during the day like I was. Using this in conjunction with the Amino Derm Gel my skin has finally begun to clear up, and I couldn't be happier. I'm so grateful that finally I'm getting the skin back that I used to have, and when I go into practice, I will recommend Aubrey Organics to all my acne-prone, oily skinned clientele for their homecare. Just goes to prove that more expensive products and big names are sometimes the snake oil, and that, at least in my experience, the natural way is the way to go.

If you like cream/lotion type facial cleansers then you'll love this. I personally dont like cream cleansers, i feel like they dont clean your skin thoroughly and doesn't remove make up well, and thats how this product is. Really its not a bad product at all its just I dont prefer it. But it does leave your skin SUPER soft after but its not completely clean. Yes it looks clean but once you use your toner you'll see how much dirt and makeup is left. Also it leaves a thin film of residue on the skin after you use it and rinse it off and thats why it makes your skin feels so soft cause it leaves behind a film of its awesome ingredients. And with the safe and healthy ingredients in this it would be totally fine to not use a toner and leave the residue on, but i dont like to do that(doesn't feel clean to me). The after effect is very refreshing though, its leaves your skin feel really cool and minty and skin look fresh. But if you dont wear any makeup and you like cream cleansers than this is perfect for you.
This is how i use it and this is the best way to get MOST of you makeup off.

Dont wet your face or you hands yet, squeeze a good amount of product and massage all over for a good minute or so then add some warm water and massage some more and throughly rinse and pat dry. then follow with toner.

It really is like a natural version of noxzema. It leaves you with a very "fresh" minty feeling after using it. Again, as with most Aubrey products, a little goes a long way, so it really is going to last awhile. I find it does a good job at removing my make-up, but I usually wear only a light mineral foundation. When I've used toner afterward, the pad has always been clean, which has not always been the case with other cleansers. Has not stripped my skin, and have not had any redness or irritation, which I am sometimes prone to.

The reason why I bought this cleanser was because I thought that it would remove makeup, since it said so on the back of the bottle. I've been using this for a couple of weeks, it doesn't remove makeup on its own, I still need to use a separate makeup remover oil prior to cleansing. This is more of a light creamy cleanser, my face feels tingly after cleansing, probably due to some kind of oil in this cleanser. The good thing is that it doesn't seem to strip my face off all oill, so my face doesn't feel dry after cleansing with this. I probably will not buy again since I'm looking for a more heavy duty cleanser that removes makeup as well, maybe something oil-base will be better to get rid of makeup, if anyone have any suggestion on a good cleanser that is made mostly of natural ingredients, please tell me. This would probably works well as a morning cleanser because it make my face tingly and kinda wakes me up.

Bought this with high hopes since I'm a big fan of Aubrey's Vegecol toner. Been using this for the past 4 days and I can say that I love it! Doesn't break my skin out and cleans well, doesn't strip my skin or leave it dry. Also love that it's a natural product and doesn't have a long list of strange sounding ingredients. One of the things I love about this is it's POW! effect! I would say that this is a natural version of Noxema but with more oomph. Wakes you right up and feels like you've rubbed snow all over your face. I personally LOVE this product because of the minty wakeup call and it's great to use in the morning cause I'm bright eyed and bushy tailed after washing my face no coffee needed. I've found though that if I use more than a dime size worth of product it takes awhile for the minty tingle to go away and I do find that feeling annoying if it lingers more than a few minutes. If I use too much of the facewash then I use the Vegecol toner afterwards to wipe off any film that may be left and that usually fixes the problem. One of my complaints is that it doesn't take makeup off very well I have to use something else for that. Great stuff and it's priced well too. Will keep using as long as my face gets along with it. Will update if there are any changes. EDIT 4/18/08 My skin is getting along with this cleanser very well! No breakouts or clogged pores. Doesn't leave my skin feeling tight or dry. I still use Aubrey's Vegecol toner afterwards to clean off a slight film that the cleanser leaves behind. I'm really happy that I've found a natural product line that doesn't have a million ingredients in it and works well with my skin. Also a big plus is that it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Upping this to a 5.

I adore this cleanser not only because it doesn't contain any chemicals, but also because it doesn't strip my skin and leave it feeling tight and too dry. Although it doesn't dry out my skin after washing nearly as much as other cleansers have, I think I'm going to try the one for combination skin next, as certain areas of my face just refuse to stay moisturised. On the downside, the price is a little high so therefore off-putting, and the packaging could be improved so that you can squeeze out every last drop!

I love to use this cleanser in the summer. I travel with it and always use on those hot, humid days when my makeup has slide down onto my neck. It cleans thoroughly without drying and leaves the skin very refreshed and clean. I love the cool feeling when it's first applied to my skin. Truly a winner, and it's never made my skin breakout, which is nothing short of a miracle.

This is a good product for oily skin. It cleans without excess drying and removes makeup gently. I used it for years when my skin was oily, but now I have mostly dry skin and have moved on to something else. This still works well for my (oily) husband and mother, though.

This is a decent product. I use number 5 for oily skin. I like the natural ingredients. To make it into a scrub I sometimes mix baking soda with it.

It took me years to find the right facial cleanser, I used neautrogena and found that it only made my face dry and itchy. Then I found Aubrey Organics Natural Herbal Facial Cleanser Oily Skin #5. This cleanser is perfect for sensitive delicate oily skin and i absolutely love the minty tingley effect that it has. I've used it now for around 4 years and it remains a staple in my face cleansing routine.

Aubrey's Herbal Facial Cleanser is good if you want a cream-based cleanser that's refreshingly cool. Aubrey's products are all -natural and organic, which is a big plus for me. However, the mint is sometimes overpowering (it's best for those hot, summer days)- and I don't really like that mint zing in my skincare products.

My search for the best cleanser for my sensitive, acne-prone skin led me down the natural skin care aisle to Aubrey organics. I purchased this cleanser and the toner and moisturizer that go with it. I liked the tingly feeling from this minty smelling cleanser, but I felt like it left a residue behind. After using this for about four days I threw it away because it made me break out. The search continues!

This is exactly like Noxema cream, right down to the menthol smell. It is NOT for dry skin, though works well on oily sensitive skin. Since I am not so oily anymore, I don't use this cleanser. It is very effective, not expensive, and if you like an invigorating, but creamy cleanser that rinses clean, this is a great one. All vegan, no animal testing.
