Like the other reviewer, I use this shade for my eyebrows. It's a deep taupe/brown and was recommended to me by the Aveda esthetician that did my brows. I have black hair and other browns and blacks make it completely obvious that I've filled in my eyebrows- especially because my eyebrows grow in strange directions. Using the MAC #266 brush, I make quick stokes following the direction of my eyebrow hairs. Looks great, and is not obvious, but really defines my brows and lasts all day. As for packaging- you need to buy an Aveda compact because (like all of their make-up products), Earthen is only sold in pans. However, any magnetized compact would work, or you can put a magnet on the bottom of the pan. Will definitely buy this again but won't have to for a while.

Even my makeup artist friends kept asking what I had used on my brows!!! It just made my face look so polished, but not in a groucho marx way. =) Subtle, striking without looking overdone.
Even better than Chanel's Blonde Cendre pencil!!!!!
