I generally can't wear chemical sunscreens but was curious to try this since it contains licorice, an ingredient that reduces redness for me. I'm writing this review based on cosmetic elegance and sun protecton, not whether it irritates me (because that has to do with my skin and not with the suncreen itself). PPD is 38 on my box so protection-wise this is great. I think the below reviewer is correct that this has most likely been reformulated since previous reviews. It is much more cosmetically elegant than other high ppd euro s/s I've tried in the past that were so greasy, that's why I wanted to write a review. So if you're looking for a high ppd facial s/s give this one a try. Ingredients from French Cosmetics for Less:

I LOVE THIS STUFF! just to clarify this is a review for the Laser spf 50+ UVA 35. This is my HG sunscreen, I put it under my makeup and use it every single day. I read some of the other reviews and they are from quite a while ago and I am almost 100% positive that this sunscreen has been reformulated a few times, so take that into account when making a decision. I used to use only all physical sunscreens but eventually figured out that zinc oxide in high amounts give me terrible acne and triggers my perioral/orbital dermatitis. The plus with this all chemical sunscreen is it isn't drying like the ones with zinc and it has AMAZING UVA protection- which is the kind that I worry about. Another plus about this s/s is it helps with spots whether it be from post acne or sun with a combo of licorice root extracts. I highly recommend this stuff! Since it is only available in europe and I live in Canada I order it from French Cosmetic for Less, or sometimes ebay if there is a reputable seller.

I liked the high PPD and SPF rating, and also that it didn't have any Avobenzone (aka Parsol) which irritates my face. However, this product does give me the balling up problem in that it doesn't apply smoothly. What I did to get around this was to first apply a light layer of moisturizer (usually Olay SPF 15) as a primer. That helps the product go on much more smoothly. It isn't perfect, and you have to work quickly to smooth it all out before it dries (otherwise you get streaks and you can't smooth them out because that causes the product to ball up). But it works quite well. A dusting of NYX translucent powder blots off most of the shine and is excellent in conjunction with the Photoderm Laser. I have not really had any breakouts that I can attribute to this product either.

This is now called "Spot." While it gives great sun protection and a non-shiny finish, it balls up on me terribly I cannot use it. Note I did not use anything underneath this, not even toner. It also has a smooth silicone feel that I do not like. Bioderma THP Lait SPF 30 is much more cosmetically elegant, although the finish is slightly shinier than Spot.

At first I liked this allot, it offers great if not the best protection available. It is also none irritating (when my skin is calm anyway) and frag free. However the base of this needs a little work imo as after applying it can be very streaky white which can be dealt with by rubbing it in quite alot. However as it dries and throughout the day it balls up and white streaks/blotches start appearing in places (also red if im irritated by it) the overall effect is a ghostly white cast. Also where it balls up there are holes in the protection so parts are bare on your face. This is however very good for use under the eyes and it doesnt irritate yet it balls up to a sigle white line on the upper lid as your eyes are open throughout the day. I dont think I would purchase this again however the bioderma THP lait or familial spray or the new max 60 spray are supposedly good without the balling up effect. This is also expensive as I have to ship it from france to the UK. Subsequently I now have a spare tube of this : (

This is an excellent, but expensive sunscreen. I prefer this to all of the other sunscreens that I've tried including Anthelios XL SPF 60 Lait & Anthelios XL Extreme Fluide SPF 60. This has high UVA protection and feels the best on my skin compare to other high protection creams. The finish is light, non-greasy, and doesn't have a white cast. It's amazing that a product that feels this good also has good UVA & UVB protection. I prefer this to Extreme Fluide because it is less greasy and sticky than Extreme Fluide. It also might ball up and becomes splotchy once in a while, but not consistently. continued >>

Not too bad for such high protection (one of the highest I've seen for both UVA (PPD 29) and UVB). It's true, it does ball up if applied over makeup and some moisturizers. Sometimes when a coat is applied unevenly, white flakes start falling off. It kind of looks like I have peeling skin. I put it over my Neostrata Total Radianc Vit C today and the Photoderm is peeling :( Not sure if I will repurchase. Will try the Anthelios next.

This is far less shiny than the Photoderm MAX Fluid which is a definite plus. However, I can't wear my usual Armani Luminous Silk Foundation over it as applying foundation seems to rub the sunscreen off or makes it ball up. I've had to wear Chantecaille Compact Powder Foundation over it on days when my skin needs some coverage. When I don't need to wear make-up, this Laser Creme SPF 100 is fine. It has no white cast and not too much shine. However, it does seem to be a bit pore-clogging like the Photoderm MAX Fluid SPF 100. I don't usually get spots but I did get two gigantic ones while wearing this.
