Espresso is one of the best dark brown eye shadows ever. It works well as an eyebrow color as well as for eye lining. Staying power is decent and color is nice and dark but not harsh like black is. The pan will last for ages. Only thing I am not too crazy about is the price.

One of my HG gel liners. Anything by Bobbi is usually really good, but this is great! I love the consistency and the fluidness of the product. It last a good 8 hours with a primer and it looks great. Def buy again.

This is a must have in every collection. It is the smoothest shade of cool dark matte brown. This is literally my HG brow product. I have natural black/dark brown hair and used to use Rimmel brow pencil in black brown and MUFE Waterproof Eyebrow Corrector in the darkest shade. While both are still great products, I've found Bobbi Brown Espresso to be best in many ways: easiest & fastest to apply, easiest to control, most natural yet defined finish. The only thing is that MUFE Brow Corrector is waterproof while Espresso is not. Still, it stays on fairly well if you don't rub the brow area and it really is the easiest to apply. As an eyeshadow, its a must have shade of brown. It's great in the crease and it is soooo smooth especially for a matte shade. It's perfect and has so many uses. Must Have!! continued >>

Espresso is in my Modern Classic Lip & Eye Palette from BB. Very versatile. BB does neutrals so well. Her matte shadows are top notch. I don't wear this one too often b/c I've been reaching for NavyCharcoal as a liner regularly. But it's a staple to add to your BB collection for sure. continued >>

I absolutely adore this eyeshadow. I have NC35 skin & use it with my Body Shop slant brush as an eyebrow filler, an eyeliner and as a standard shadow to contour the eye. The soft yet dark hue of this eyeshadow is fantastic for the nude look but can also be built up to achieve Sophia Loren drama. This has been an essential for me for three years and it is one of Bobbi Brown's finest accomplishments. A complete necessity. continued >>

this is my fav eyeshadow of all time!
the colour is almost dark enough to look like a black but the chocolaty tone makes it look a lot more elegante. the pigmentation is fantastic but it does crease at the end of the evening if i don't use a primer because i tend to get oily lids.
the packaging is really elegante but not really convenient because i need two hands to unscew the little can which is a little bit annoying if i'm in a hurry.
this will probably last me a long time because i normally only wear heavy eye make up for big events. if i would run out of this colour though i would repurchase it for sure!

I use the Espresso BB eyeshadow as a powder eyeliner. I use water and a Trish McEvoy push eyeliner brush to apply it. It is very pigmented and lasts all day. Very nice and natural. I could use it in the crease, but I find it is a little dark on me.

I prefer this as an eyeliner but then again I haven't tried it any other way. Well I tried it for my brows but that didn't work. I don't get any fallout like I do with caviar. Will definitely repurchase should I ever run out!

This came in set I bought and its supposed to be used as a eyeliner I believe. Its a deep brown just as the name suggests but I don't like powder shadows used as liners (I prefer BB longwear gel) and I don't see how else I could use this shade b/c its pretty dark. minus one lippie.

This is a matte chocolate shade that isn't dark enough to be mistaken as brown black.
I bought this to use along the crease and as a shadow liner when I don't want the obvious eyeliner lines. Its great as a shadow liner when I apply by spraying the liner brush with water before I dab the pan, however as a crease shadow it slips off with each blink of the eye. I would repurchase because its a great shadow liner for when I fashion the nude eye look

I love this eyeshadow so much! It is a very dark brown that looks almost black from far away and it is completely matte. I usually find that matte eyeshadows look chalky when applied but this one is so smooth. It also last forever. I got mine in the shimmering neutrals palette (so the eyeshadow is smaller than normal) over a year ago and I still have over half of it left. I use it as an eyeliner and it looks really good - like my eyes are just naturally really defined. I like it better than black eyeliner because for some reason even though my hair is almost black and I wear black mascara, black eyeliner just looks bad on me. I will definitely be repurchasing when I run out. I would die if they discontinued this!

Espresso is one of the shades in the Stonewashed Nudes palette which I own; it is also offered as a matte eye shadow. I use this rich dark coffee (brown-black) shadow as a liner and it is goreous with my light blue eyes and NW20 skin. The shadow is extremely saturated with pigment and it lasts. I want to use it as a shadow (crease or outer corner of eye) but always avoid doing it. It is matte and I veer away from it but I will get to it one of these days. At the least it will prevent me from purchasing a dupe from NARS with shimmer. This color and formulation are the reason why Bobbi Brown has the reputation for high quality. I would re-purchase but it'll be a while before I hit pan.

I love Bobbi Brown eye shadows! I use espresso to line my eyes for a softer look than conventional eyeliner. Very highly pigmented.

Finally a truly dark brown e/s! It's the color of ground coffee, a blackened brown but not too harsh on the black or too muddy dull on the brown. Nicely pigmented and makes a great shade to soften any black liner. Very pleased with this product.

I use this as an eyeliner. This is a darker brown base colour, and it looks really good on me. I dont like harsh dark colours of charcoal or smoke..so this is just perfect and would recommend it to anyone..

I agree with all the other reviewers, but wanted to add that most black e/s and liner usually turns a little blue on my skin, because I have yellow undertones. This Espresso e/s is just the answer. It's almost black, and stays true to colour. It's my "warm" black liner :)
Update: The staying power is better than any pencil or gel liner I've tried.

I got this in the mail yesterday. I have asian fair skin, with yellow olive tones and this showed up with a grayish tone. It's dark but not as harsh as black and I bought it along with Bobbi's 6 pan palette with other colors. I mainly use it for my brows, but it is too gray based. So if you think this is a true dark chocolate, try it on first and check your skin tone -- it might look differently on. Other than that, it is fairly smooth and pigmented, but I think it's overpriced for what it is.

Espresso is very dark brown. It's pretty dark on my fair skin, but it does work in the crease if I use a light hand. I do think it is a beautiful shade and has, of course, Bobbi's excellent quality.

This is my go-to crease colour for a dark smokey eye. It shows up black on my skin (NW15), and it blends very well. I always get complimented when I'm wearing this shadow - it can be very dramatic. As others have pointed out, it's also a super liner shade, and I also use it to fill my brows. Love!
