This is my favourite sunblock of all time. I've used a lot of different ones before sticking to just this one.
Firstly, it's incredibly light. My skin breaks out if I use heavy products on my face, yet it's remained clear and break-out free while using this one. This is probably my third tube!
However, I must say the tube is definitely not my favourite thing about it. There seems to be some dried up product at its inner tip a lot (under the cap). Maybe it's just us misusing it, and it's not really a huge issue.

This product works great! It's not greasy at all. And it's very easy to spread. The protection is superb and long lasting.
I use to use L'oreal sun expertise SPF 50+ before and it worked well. Now, I switched to Photoderm MAX because it is less shiny/greasy and lighter texture.

This thing is my Best sunscreen.. I recommend this for any one with a sensitive skin or lives in a sunny country (Like Egypt :D)... The milk is the best although it's oily but it saves money...& let's face it, It's hard to get the high SPF together with the non oily film...Bottom line... I can't live without this thing continued >>

Skintype: DSPW.
Overall experience: At first I was very excited to use it because this has the highest PPD out there right now. Within 2 days I developed these tiny white bumps on my cheeks and my skin became red and irritated. The texture was very silky and easy to blend which looked good in the morning but at the end of the day it had become so greasy (which is rare for someone like me).
I won't be buying this again. It's too expensive for a sunscreen that doesn't do a good job.

Well, I was living on this stuff for a year at least. I made the switch from the previous product (Max Lait, SPF 60) to this when the old stuff was no longer available. It is highly effective, I don't burn, tan or anything through it. I took it on a month long trip to Europe in June and while it completely protected me, I had a greasy oil slick face the entire time. From morning til night, I was constantly blotting my face in the bathroom with paper towels. I might reserve this for the days that I'm going swimming only and use a different daily sunscreen for my face on other days. I am a bit ruddy skinned, have reddish brown hair, freckle easily on my arms, but burn very easily. I use Retin-A off and on as well, which contributes to the burn. I never notice a whitish cast on my skin with the european sunscreens (except with the non-chemical Avene SPF 50 Creme Ecran Extreme for Allergic Sensitive Skin--just awful in terms of thickness and white cast). The texture of this is nice and easy to spread (thicker than the old formula though) which makes applying easy. No perfume smell. I don't wear foundation but just use cover up on top and powder to tone down the shine. I find that there is no good way to control the shine though. Up to you. You'll never find the perfect product. I found this to be actually more expensive than the new brand I've replaced it with, Avene. I am now using Avene Eau Thermale Lait Extreme SPF 50+. I paid about 10 EUR for a 3.4 oz tube in Spain and that was significantly cheaper than the 15EUR tube of Bioderma Max Lait. I'll next write a review of that one. Overall, I'll rate this one highly because it is effective at preventing burn which is my main concern with a sunscreen product. I love the sun but it does not love me. It can handle up to 2-3 hours in prime midday summer sun (11-2pm June) with equal time spent under an umbrella and in the direct sun, and with one reapplication after swimming, and still I do not burn.

Well. I am really unsure how I feel about this sunscreen. I am using the lastest version, which is the one without MBC and with alcohol. This has a minor white cast, easily fixed with powder or bronzer or self-tanner. It dries pretty matte. It has good staying power and a labeled ppd of 35.
Now, I used it over Memorial Day weekend taking the family to the pool. I did not lay out in the sun, wore a hat, and was mostly in the shade since the pool was not heated and nobody could stand to get into the 68 fdegree water. The next day, I noticed my melasma had darkened. I have spent longer time out in direct sunlight with Avene ss on and not had this happen. Also, on both occasions I used this sunscreen I got cystic pimples a day or so afterwards.

The texture is remarkably similar to Elmer's Glue. I feel like it takes a lot of effort to rub this in and then it feels heavy on my skin. I'm acne prone and it has never broken me out, but the texture is just yuck. For the cost, it should be better.

I'd buy the Lait again but not the Fluid. Great protection, but the Fluid is pretty whitening even though it is somewhat less shiny/greasy. WIth the Lait, I can put on some Ferndale O.C. oil control gel and look somewhat matte and not too living dead-like. The Lait is thick and kinda difficult to apply and difficult to remove, but oh well.

I've been using this sunscreen for a little over a month now and am amazed at my results. Even after only a week of usage, my skin appeared less red and some of my hyperpigpentation has (finally!) begun to fade. But I waited to the 4 week mark to log my results.
I am extremely acne prone and this hasn't broken me out at all nor clogged my pores. It leaves a bit of dewiness under makeup, but with powder applied and a mattifier underneath(the sunscreen) I stay pretty shine free all day. In fact my makeup application looks more natural and less 'masklike' over this sunscreen. Amazing!
I have been on Retin A Micro for 5 months and the combination of the two has made my skin more smooth and youthful than it had in years!
Will absolutely repurchase! Bought mine at:

This review is for the Lait, not the Fluid. Paid $30 for 100ml in NYC drugstore.Pros: Stable sunscreen using Tinsorb. SPF 100, PPD 31Cons: Thick consistency even tho its not cream. Very hard to spread. Also very greasy!! Also aint cheap! In conclusion: I would only use this in the summer if I would be out all day and didnt want to tan at all. continued >>

I decided to buy this after reading the reviews for Athelios SPF 60+. I chose the lait because I have oily skin except around my eyes where it is VERY dry. Like dumpling I am prone to sunspots even though I have been using Sunblock SPF 30 religiously for the last 10 years. I have light olive skin, dark hair and hazel eyes.
I have chosen to only apply this product around my eye are and over my cheekbones where I am susceptible to sunspots. The product is a bit greasy but Lancome Soleil SPF 40 is much worse! However because I am only using it around my eyes, I love it. It's perfect for my eye area because it is so dry. The only reason I did not give it a 5 is that it causes my powder MAC shadow to crease.
I am using my usual Peter Thomas Roth Oil Free Sunblock on the rest of my face.
dumpling if you're reading this, you should try PTR. It is a bit white but it is not greasy. There is a thinner version of PTR but it has Avobenzone which I am allergic to.

I like the very high level SPF and the fact that it is photostable and has UVA filters. These are the only good aspects of this sunscreen. The bad things: extremely thick and hard to spread and leaves my face incredibly shiny. I have to matte it down with a lot of pressed powder, and that cuts down the shine a lot, although I get breakthrough shine as the day goes on. Also, it is very hard to wash off my face. I guess that means that it's good as all day protection. I think this is contributing to my legions of clogged pores and breakouts. Whenever I use this consistently, I get cystic acne and pimples. But I will continue using it, as it is the only thing that protects me from photoaging problems.

Aaargh! This product makes me mad, it is quite possibly the worst sunscreen I have ever used (after 10yrs+ that is a lot of sunscreen) . First of all it says it is for oily skin, OILY SKIN!? Damn right you will have oily skin after wearing this sucker! It is cold & dry right now so my skin though oily, isn't quite it's usual grease monkey self & actually a little bit of extra moisture is not unwelcome right now. However, I put this on the other day & felt that it had a greasy tacky feel and couldn't really rub it in well. Since I have this annoying ongoing battle with sunspots (yep, even with daily use of high spf's I am still not immune) I thought I would try this crazily high spf100.
Anyway, I was having problems applying it & thought , this isn't working ,I might as well remove it & go back to my old reliable chalky spf30. However, I only had applied it to the bottom half of my face so washing it off should be a breeze right? Also it hadn't really set by then, but it 3 attempts of washing it off with SOAP for my face to feel clean. Ok , so it didn't work out , big deal ,didn't cost much. Well, Today (day after) I have a huge crop of brand new red spots on the LOWER HALF of my face, great. My skin has dare I say it ,been behaving itself very nicely the past 3 or 4 months, even got a compliment on my skin from the woman at Dr. Hauschka the day before, plus I've been doing the aspirin mask & lots of beneficial things, drinking loads of water etc., etc., Thanks BIO DERMA for activating my crappy skin I feel horrible now & will have to find some kind of camoflage for these new arrivals. My advice when considering this is DON'T ,UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES , UNLESS YOU LIKE THE ACNE EFFECT. continued >>

i need to thank the knowledgeable MUAers who turned me to sunscreens with better, more stable UVA protection than those available in te US. i read up on the pros and cons of different ingredients and decided that this photoderm MAX fluid is my best bet. i have to say that i'm very satisfied with the results. while i used to be diligent with sunscreen use, the DDF matte sunscreen and various neutrogena ones never really prevented me from getting a bit tanner during the summer. after i started using this, i didn't get a shade darker, and i feel a lot better because it's photostable. now the lotion is a bit greasy on the face during the summer (i have normal to dry skin) and hard to spread, but on the body it settles to a semi-matte finish. like other reviewers mentioned, this could be somewhat pore-clogging, but since i alternate between AHA/BHA and retinol for my night cream, i haven't had a problem with breakouts. overall i think it's a reasonable tradeoff for the long-lasting sun protection it offers.

I have normal to slightly dry skin and found this to be very shiny unless I wore a lot of powder over it. I was using DDF Organic Sunblock before this but switched to this because it has far superior UVA protection. However, I did get a couple of biggish zits while wearing this which didn't happen with the DDF sunblock. But I found that if I applied PC 1% BHA at night this helped with the pore clogging problem. I might try the Creme version as it is supposed to be less pore-clogging and less shiny.
Another major plus about this is that there is NO white cast! DDF makes me look like a ghost and I'm so pale I don't need to look any whiter.

Bioderma Photoderm MAX Lait or Bioderm Photoderm MAX fluid has exactly the same ingredient list. The only difference is price and product size. Lait is half cheaper. I've used both version and cannot find a difference between the two.
It is a very shinny sunscreen but less than La Roche Posay Anthelios XL SPF 60 lait or cream. The finish and texture is worse than Lancome UV expert SPF 50 PA+++ but I my skin behave better using this. It's consistency is between liquid and cream but kind of hard to spread. I like that it is fragrance free. After 2-3 weeks of continue usage, I do found my skin slightly clogged. My skin get clogged using all sunscreen anyway. however, I won't repurhase it because of the shinny factor and I think the Photoderm MAX cream is better which is easier to spread, less shinny and less greasy.
