When retinaldehydes irritated my skin, salicylic spot treatment did jack sh*t, I turned to old time friend Oxy fondly remembered in high school. Everyone I know has used this at least once in their life! I'm surprised at the low number of ratings!! Benzoyl peroxide 5%. Does what it's meant to do (albeit drying , as BP is) dried out my smaller spots overnight and I'm giving it another 2-3 days to work on the bigger ones. I wouldn't use as a daily all over treatment due to its oxidizing nature but great for spot treatments.

I have used Oxy 5 ever since 10th grade. In the 9th grade my face was full of acne for about a year and my Aunt recommended me to Oxy 5. I tried this for about 3 weeks and my face has never been clearer. I have used this product for about 7 years and it has kept my face clear of pimples. I would definatley recommend thsi product for oily skin.

Have been using this for many years. Did not try other acne cream cause the rest are too expensive. This is really very cheap. Unless i find something that works if not i will keep repurchasing this

Very good product. Gets rid of pimples fast, especially when used at the first signs of an erruption. The 5% solution is perfect. The 10% should only be used for extreme cases since its very drying.

Great product that works without breaking bank. Dab it onto your pimples and blind pimples to shrink them effectively.

This does not really work and it dries your skin alot. Oxy 10 is even worst, never use it.

This really works to my surprise.
I have used Clinique's Anti Blemish spot gel and Night Treatment gel which sucks by the way.And Origins pimple gel was also just not working it.All in all,i wasted so much money on them.
I tried my sister's Oxy 5% and i was surprised although skeptical at first.I tried it again and again and it wonderfully shrinks those pimples each time i used it.
The things i don't like is the chalky residue it left behind after i applied it.Also, the tube is really weird cos its hard to squeeze out the cream at times.Once,i squeeze it and a blob spurted out and almost got into my eye. x D

great cream. works really great to get rid of most pimples. i still get the occasional pimples (those nasty ones under the skin) during that time of the month. but i really cant complain, my skin looks clear most of the time.
the only thing i hate is that is discolors alllllll my towels, pillow covers and any clothes that it gets on. you have to be REALLY careful of what you put your face against. worth it though for the clear skin!

I'm so glad that I found this product. I know I've applied it well when there isn't any white chalky stuff on my skin. I've bought Oxy 5 2.5% Sensitive Skin many times, for about six dollars. It could be a little less expensive for such a small thing, but it's better than having acne breakouts all the time or spending a whole bunch of money trying to find something else that won't work in the end. It's great, so try it!

I never realised how completely crap this product is until I used Daniel Kern's 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide Gel. Oxy's vanishing formula does not vanish but leaves a white, chalky cast. The texture is cheap and gritty, and makes my skin feel tight. It sometimes causes serious peeling, and makes my skin itch. It works sometimes, but considering there are better products out in the market, I'd give this a miss.
The tube springs back into its original shape after you squeeze it, so it's really hard to get the product out once the tube is not completely full. I had to shake the tube very vigorously to get any product out after a few days. And then it's up to the tube to decide when to spit a lot of product at me, or just plain air.

i HEART oxy 5 bp lotion...it keeps my skin consistently clear and as long as i exfoliate regularly it wont leave me flakey! i only use it on my chin area because this is my problem area....have been loyal to this lotion for months now because it works!

i applied it at night on my pimples and the next day the size of it has somewhat reduced. yep i love this product. it wont clear out your pimples immediately though. it takes a few days. but most of all, it keeps my skin oil-free. this product can make your skin feels dry, so u'll expect to see flakes of your skin on the spot where you have applied. i recommend to use this at night. you'll sleep the pimples through. great product, definitely will repurchase. oh yes, DO NOT WIPE your fingers on your shirt or clothes as this cream contains benzoyl peroxide which can discolor your clothes... so far, my pyjamas and my towel have been discolored. hahaha. shake well before use. =D 5 lippies for cream-reducing-acne.

I've been on a lookout for a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide product having read that it is just as affective as 5% but less irritating since I have sensitive skin. However, in Malaysia, at least over the counter, the lowest i can find are products with 5% benzoyl peroxide. I bought Oxy because it's the cheapest item on the shelf. I bought the smallest tube of 10ml for RM5 to test it out.
This is my first time using an acne treatment using benzoyl peroxide. Previously I have tried tea tree oil and products like Neutrogena that utilizes salicylic acid... neither has given me good long term effects. My skin starts clearing up and then reverts to its former condition.
I received the 'inspiration' to use benzoyl peroxide after stumbling across this website www.acne.org <<---- Check this out!
The 'regime' that has helped so many people to clear up their acne problem is to GENTLY, VERY VERY GENTLY cleanse, treat with 2.5% benzoyl peroxide and moisturize after. All the three steps have to be done GENTLY, do not rub, only allow your fingers to glide across your skin- do check out the site. The testimonials are pretty amazing and the best thing is that the site exists to help you with your acne problem - and not to convince you to buy any products.
So since I can't find 2.5% benzoyl peroxide I decided to-heck-with-it, 5% will do just fine.
I cleansed my face gently, patted dry and applied the product all over my problem areas avoiding eyes and lips. After a few minutes i applied moisturizer. I had to really slather on moisturizer, I did it at least 3-4 times periodically because my face felt tight and dry. The product stung abit too but this is apparently normal. Note: if it burns badly you should stop using it!
When i woke up this morning the tiny pimples subsided and the bigger ones significantly calmed down. My pores look cleaner too. It has not miraculously cleared my face up but I'm excited, hence the reason why i'm reviewing this after only one day of usage. I will review after a few more days to inform how it turns out. At this point I will use this only at night as benzoyl peroxide will make your skin photosensitive. (We get alot of sun here) So avoid the sun when you have it on.
I would definitely use a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide product (as suggested by acne.org) if i find can any, as this is drying, but the moisturizer i slather on after seems to help counter this problem. I just need to look out for a richer moisturizer for when i use this product. I think it's important to moisturize as not to aggravate or irritate your skin and cause more acne breakouts.
For now, I'm pretty excited for this very cheap simple product.
The packaging doesn't even matter to me - it's functional and easy so even its loud packaging does not deter me.
For reference, I have mildly sensitive skin which tends to be oily in some areas but generally dehydrated. I have mild to moderate acne depending on the time of the month.

I always used this because a friend of mine did. It always made my skin turn bright red - and the redness would still be there in the morning. I thought that was the price to pay for clearing up pimples, but I've since switched to Clean & Clear PersaGel5 and it doesn't give me any redness, but is still 5%BP. continued >>

I have used this for YEARS. It doesn't really help in terms of curing acne per se. I have cystic acne so this does not help at all. It works more for prevention purposes. When I was an early Teen I would slather the vanishing formula all over my face before bed and my skin was flawless. Unfortunately now that I have adult cystic acne this doesn't work anymore. But when I want to go makeup-less to help save my skin (even if they say non-clogging, makeup is still very BAD for our skin), i would put on this stuff to cover my pigmented scars. The coverup formula is very close to my skin tone (just a bit darker when it dries), but it psychological makes me feel like I'm covering my small zits/scars, so I use it religiously anyway. It does clog up cysts more it seems (more so for the cover up formula than the vanishing) so I don't recommend people putting it over open-pore cysts.

i used this two years ago at camp in the summer, the cover-up formula. I guess i forgot how much i loved this stuff. for one, it matches my complexion---won't match everyone's. i don't have to wear foundation with this stuff. secondly, it's the only thing that has really ever prevented my teenaged acne. yeah, sure, it's a bit drying. mom bought me a moisturizer, but it's Estee Lauder (she was trying hard to get me something good) and it clogs my pores. so i'm going to go out and get olay's moisture therapy cream or something.
but yeah, honestly, this stuff is the bomb. cheap, too. probably not the healthiest thing, but it does the job.

This was the best for my very fair and sensitive skin. It didn't dry out my skin and make it flaky, nor did it hurt when I applied it to the zit. It helped my acne clear up, and it was easy to apply. My only complaint is that it doesn't get rid of your zit completely.

I have to agree with a previous reviewer, that this seems best for prevention of pimples and acne. What I do is put on a night cream moisturizer at night (thick retinol cream) and then put the Oxy 5 over it. It's a good balance and doesn't leave my face dry at all. I have noticed my skin tone has improved and by the end of the week, my skin feels baby soft! This is the only thing that has prevented pimples even at that time of the month.
