NC25 Chinese, black hair and brows.
For filling in my brows, either MAC Brun or BB Mahogany will do... but this one gets 5 lippies because it comes in a square pan, and it was EASY to depot into my "anothersoul" Etsy magnetic palette using a very thin bladed paring knife.
Just insert blade carefully, wedge up, turns out the plastic underneath is not completely flat but actually made of gridlines, so only a tiny amt of glue is used to hold the pan into place. Awesome. I just place a little scotch tape over the glue area so not to create any gumminess on my palette (but I put wax paper over my palette before inserting my pans into place anyhow) and went right into my palette w/out another magnet required (unlike the MAC pans you depot yourself).

This shadow is perfect for a foxy brown smoky eye. I got this a Sephora (am I the only one that's STOKED about Bobbi Brown FINALLY coming to Sephora?!). It's gorge. I rimmed my eyes with it and it looked super cool and really sexy. Reading other reviews, lots of people fill their brows in with this, so I'll try that as I have dark brown hair. This color isn't the most blendable, but make sure you have a good quality brush and you should be fine. This is a proper matte brown. Rich, deep, and with no other colors included. I love this as well as "birch" and "mink". For dark shadows, Bobbi Brown has really become my go-to.

I use this daily to fill in my brows. Im a very fair asian with jet black hair so I cant define my brows with anything too dark or grey, this is perfect. And stays on all day too :-D

I absolutely love the color of Mahogany Ink (the gel eyeliner version), which is a cool deep ash brown with no discernible red or gold, but this powder shadow is not the same. I know this is a staple eyeliner for many reviewers, but since I can only put this on top of my eyelashes (rather than tightline with it), I can't help but notice hints of red, which is no good anywhere near my eyes.
I tried using this as a crease color (because it's matte, and I can take a bit of warmth there), but I found it stiff and a little waxy. That's because it is really meant to be a liner. Period. So it is not as finely milled as the other BB shadows. I'll hang onto this in case I find a flattering way to use it, but I do not reach for it often. I prefer her gel liners over the powder liners.

This is my first Bobbi Brown eye shadow. I caved in after reading and seeing some reviews on Youtube about this particular product. I bought it on eBay, in nearly new condition with all of the hetchmarks still being visible. After using this practically every day in one form or another, this is my verdict: You need this. Period. The colour is - unlike the name suggests - an ashy, very dark neutral-leaning-cool brown. There are no red or otherwise warm undertones in this whatsoever.
I use this in a variety of ways. I'm brunette, and this is the perfect shade to fill in my eyebrows with. I use a small, angled brush by E.L.F. and the results are perfect each time. Apart from that this is an amazing eyeshadow. Urban Decay's Twice Baked, which is a similar, dark brown, creased on me. Mahogany did no such thing. It lasted the whole day without fading or creasing. I love using it the outer V or in the crease in conjuction with NARS Portobello on my eyelids, or smudged as a liner just above my lashes and on my lower lid. The texture is firm, and doesn't seem to me to be prone to crumbling. Yet it is so highly pigmented that you barely have to tap your brush onto the surface of the pan to be able to apply it. It's easily blendable, and you can create a wonderful, smoldering smokey eye by just using this, a highlighting shade and a liner!
My only niggle is the packaging. The shiny, black plastic scratches very easily and ends up looking scruffy in a matter of weeks. I think I might invest a few more Bobbi Brown eyeshadows and in a 3 or 6-pan palette to avoid this. But other than that, this is a product so incredibly versatile, it deserves all the raves it gets. It is one of the few ones that I can see myself coming back to again and again and again! HG!

Mahogany is a matte warm brown with excellent pigmentation. It is very blendable, which makes it perfect for using as a dark base under other shadows. I tend to not be a big fan of matte shadows, but I do like using them as bases for shimmery shadows. For this shadow I like to layer a shimmery plum over it, or a wash of BB gold shimmerwash. This shadow also works well as a liner since it doesn't fade away on me (I don't seem to have that problem anyways though, so YMMV). Overall, I would say that this is a very universal shade of chocolate brown that would be flattering on a lot of eye colors.

This is a great shadow for brunettes to use for eyebrow fill-in! It looks natural, doesn't have fallout, and lasts all day/night without requiring touchups. I use it with the BB Eye Definer brush, which is recommended for those of us with 'finer' brows. Touch the flat portion of the brush to the shadow, tap once, and apply with short, feathery strokes. I've always been afraid to add color to my brows until this shadow, and it's made a huge difference to the overall balance of my face. I've also used the Mahogany shadow as a liner with a wet brush--lasted well, but am so in love with the gel liners I won't switch. The new square packaging is great, as the shadow can be popped out and put into a palette for easy organization.

After reading all the comments, I had high hope when I purchased it. But it turns out to be quite a disappointment. The colour is natural and incredibly beautiful. But well, it creases, with or without the BB Long-wear cream shadow (bone, by the way) as a base. I am so, so, so disappointed! Yet it's a great liner and brow powder. The colour is not harsh and gives a beautiful natural look.

Mahogany is described on the Bobbi Brown website as "dark ash brown." I own all of Bobbi's matte shadows, and, although I like them all very much, Mahogany is my favorite. It looks beautiful as a crease shadow and is just he perfect darker-than-medium shade but not-too-dark shade. No warm tones -- just beautiful neutral. Love, love, love it. I highly recommend it.

I'm a person that for some reason cannot wear wet eyeliner. But when I got this e/s shade in a BB palette, I thought to give it a try. Perfect! Not to harsh-looking on me but gives just the right definition. I also use it as a crease and blend BB shimmerwash eyeshadow over it to give me a smokey look. Definitely a must have in every woman's makeup collection.

Since I'm out of Anastasia duo brow powder in Brunette, I was browing through Bobbi Brown, and I discovered that Bobbi Brown eyeshadows in Grey(6) and Mahogany(10) are the EXACT the same colors in Anastasia duo brow powder in Brunette. I couldn't be more than happier to have these eyeshadows - it costs $20 each, and even has MORE powder than the Anastasia duo powder. Also, it can be used as eyeliner - great time-saving for me!

I will continue the praise for this as a great eyeliner. I am fair with blue eyes and when I use liquid or gel eyeliner it usually looks too harsh on me except at night or when I tight line with it. I started using this as a liner earlier this summer and while I don't wear it every day it is great when I want eye definition without looking like I have black rings around my eyes. I can even lightly line the bottom lashes with this without it looking like it's too much. (I also agree with others that as a crease shade it is difficult to get right - just too pigmented.)
Love it.

So I have this split pan of Cement/Smoke that I used to use to fill in my brows. I thought it was pretty good but after a while I noticed that the Smoke looked a bit too black/harsh. I liked the BB quality and staying power so off I went to the counter. I wiped off one eyebrow, and put this one at the counter, and immediately saw a difference! It's a cool ashy dark brown, no red tones. The combination of Cement and Mahogany is the perfect brow color for me :) Haven't looked back since.
Asian NC30, dark brown eyes and very dark brown hair. I put a 3 for price because yes it's expensive but the pan is huge, and really will last forever.
ETA: aha! so I've discovered that with my natural black hair, Smoke really does work much better. Mahogany was good when i used to color my hair dark brown. I will keep both in my arsenal so I can have both on hand depending on what haircolor I have. It's nice to know that I have found HG's for both :)

I don't usually write reviews on products but I just HAD to write about this one because Bobbi Brown e/s in Mahogany has been such an important part of my daily makeup routine! I can't even remember how long ago I bought this but I do know that I have used this almost everyday ever since!! I'm asian with NC42/C40, black hair, brown eyes and this color is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT on my brows!! I've had this product for about 8 years now and if you look at how much i've used, It'll seem like i JUST started using it! It's a very dark brown with a matte finish and HIGHLY PIGMENTED. I use it very sparingly because with this product, A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY...
I've always gotten compliments on my brows(I don't know why, I've seen lots of people with better brows) but ever since I started using this e/s, I've been getting even more on a daily basis!
I absolutely LOVE this product and CANNOT live without it!

The previous review inspired me to write a review for this. I don't know why I haven't done so before now, because this is one of my HG eyeliners. This is one of the colors in the Nude shimmerwash palette I bought a few years ago. It is my favorite (pretty much only) brown eyeliner. I only use it for lining my eyes, as I'm not very skilled with the whole crease thang. I always apply it wet, and it stays on all day. I've never noticed any smudging, but I usually only use on my upper lids. I'll never stop using this!

Very versatile shadow, I use it as liner, shadow and for my brows. I use the MAC 266 brush to tightline my upper eyeline dry or wet, depending on whether I want a softer or more defined line. I use this in the crease a lot as well, it seems to go well with all shades of colours due to it's neutral tone. I was using MAC Coquette for my brows, but after I tried mahagony I realized that coquette was maybe slightly too light for my dark hair and brows, so I use mahagony now. The shadow stays put from morning till late afternoon, barely any smudging/transfer. Colour is a very dark neutral brown, a little lighter and softer than BB Espresso e/s. This is one of my staples, and I will repurchase when I run out.

This eyeshadow is a staple in my collection due to it's versatility.
I use it for my brows, crease, and as an eyeliner.
Definitely worth the $19.00 :)

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this shadow yet - it's the only shadow I simply could not live without (yes, it's that good!). Mahogany is a matte dark brown shade that works wonderfully as a liner and crease shade. I have this in a split pan of Bone/Mahogany that I got years ago at CCO. I have used this pair daily for YEARS for a neutral, professional look, and there are still barely dents in the pans. It's also my go-to job or television interview shade, since it gives definition and dimension to my eyes without looking overdone. But don't think that means it's boring, to the contrary - I think Mahogany is extremely versatile and can be used for day or night. I also think it would work for just about all skintones and colorings. I once read that Angelina Jolie uses this, which makes one thing she and I share, LOL!

I don't think I need to add to the color descriptions, everyone has done it splendidly.
I have this in the eye basics and nude on nude shimmer palette.
Originally I tried to use it as a eyeshadow for outer v - big mistake. It was terribly difficult to blend and ended up very patchy, no matter what brush or applicator I used. then put it aside cos I couldn't get it to work. More recently I tried it again, but this time only as a liner - and what a difference it makes! I really love using it now! It is a lovely dark black brown and goes great with my NC20 skin and brown eyes. Lasting power is great and stays all day.
I rate this perfect as a great eyeliner which gives a softly smudged look. I am repeating the warning though, IMHO this is not good as an eyeshadow!
