My tube of Mela-d does not say it IS a sunscreen, but that it has sunscreen. It is a lightening agent with 2%hydroquinone and I love it! I've never really thought about reviewing anything before this product. It lightenened a red splotch that was on my face, although the derm said I would have to have it lasered. My skin had sun damage and it is so much more even after about two months' use...I've had many compliments. If you have ANY pigmentation problems try it...hydroquinone may not be on the market much longer. It was carcinogenic in mice -- orally! I ain't no mouse, and I ain't eatin' this stuff!

I tried out a sample of this product. It sounds good to have SPF 15 and PPD 15. It also contains Kojic Acid which will help in pigmentation. This product is heavily fragranced as other La Roche Posay Product. I'm not sure if it is the fragrance or Kojic acid, it turns my face red and blotchy. It also sting my face a little bit. Tried it twice and same result. Not gonna repurchase.
