Like what the previous reviewers wrote. This is indeed a sunscreen that delivers - protects and doesn't cause breakout. I'm using the SPF30. It leaves a white cast on application (I apply liberally) which disappears on absorption (within 1-2 mins). I have combi/acne-prone skin and there were days when I've re-applied this sunscreen in mid-day without any problems (no breakout). I find that it also soothes my skin. Pity that it stinks my eyes very badly every now and then when I perspire or dab my eye. Have to be very careful not to "run" the sunscreen into the eyes. Update (27/03/07): Upstaged by Clarins UV Plus40.

Wonderful product. Now called ESSENTIALS Protect. Like all the Rodan & Fields products I've tried (CALM/UnBLEMISHED, REVERSE exfoliant paste) I am in love with the performance and hate the price, but am addicted so I will pay.
This sunscreen sinks in immediately, doesn't pill, doesn't leave a white caste, is not at all oily or greasy, and doesn't make me break out--I say that is a small miracle in a bottle for a sunscreen for me. As a huge plus, it actually makes my skin seem look better as I wear it-like I put on a bit of translucent powder or something; a bit glowy and more even toned. (I don't wear any make-up most days because I'm always running out the door late.)
I know some people want more than a SPF15, but that only has to do with UVB burning rays. This has Avobenzone for the UVA spectrum protection which I think is a bit more important since it is apparently these rays that do more of the actual cellular damage to skin. Also, it has Vit C and anti-oxidants are also a great skin protection measure. The biggest reason I don't mind the SPF15, though is that FINALLY I can put the recommended amount on my face (1 teaspoon) or at least very close to that (I don't actually use a measuring spoon, I just eyeball). Generally, unless I'm at the beach or pool or hiking or something, I never put this much on my face simply because it would either turn it somewhat white, make my face a grease pit which then causes break outs, or not all rub in. This means I'm actually getting the full protection power and SPF 15. Now putting this much on every morning means I will go through it pretty fast, which means more $$$$ but this is my face-I'll pay to keep it looking good and feeling healthy for a long time.
I do NOT use this sunscreen as an outdoor activity product. On those days I use something water-resistant and stronger and layer it on. continued >>

I was very suprised when I first used this product. I was surprised that it didn't sting at all, even though it uses Avobenzone. I feels absolutely greaseless, it's light, as if I'm not wearing any sunscreen, and it really calms the redness on my face. I am a sunscreen guru, always on the look-out for great sunscreens, and this is by far, the BEST sunscreen I've ever used. And the best part of the sunscreen, it totally leaves a matte finish. No matter how many times I re-apply, there is almost no shine. I LOVE it!! However, I don't know if I'd buy it again for 2 reasons: 1. the price ($35 for 2 oz.). I feel that it shouldn't be necessary to pay very much for a sunscreen, especially since it will be used very frequently and there are many cheaper alternatives out there that will do the job. 2. SPF 15 only. With my sensitive, pale skin, I need at least SPF 30. But like I've said, this product is GREAT.

I have had great luck with this sunscreen. Usually, sunscreens leave me with lots of shine, little bumps, and don't seem to be absorbed by my skin. This one, however, dries matte and adds a negligable amount of moisture to my skin. Best of all, no breakouts! Definitely will repurchase.

Got this SPF 15 chemical sunscreen at rodanandfields.com -- the website of the same two doctors responsible for ProActiv solution (which I've never tried). 2 oz for $35. I'm on my second week of using it and like it so far. It's a white cream that goes on moist and almost greasy but then dries down to a very smooth finish thanks to the cyclomethicone in it. It works great under my Almay Kinetin foundation, though my StudioFix sits a bit dryly on top of it. Overall this is a very good sunscreen and makeup primer. The finish is much drier and "primer-like" than my usual staple - CK Protective Moisture Lotion - and it seems to keep oiliness under control for longer. It also seems less heavy and dry-feeling then Smashbox's photofinish primer (with an added sunscreen at that). I can't attribute any breakouts to it. The only concern may be the Avobenzone -- I've found that when I first put it on there is a slight warming sensation around my eyes -- not outright stinging like Almay's Kinetin SPF 15 Lotion -- but enough to make me think that this may not work for sensitive skin or skin sensitized by something else (like Retin-A). This may make a great summertime foundation for me if the Px All You Need SPF 15 (on its way from gloss) doesn't live up to expectations.
