I can't believe the low rating for this spray. I love it because of the light hold, the soft finish (not sticky) and the DIVINE scent - I feel like using this because of the scent alone, it's that good. This is all I use for styling, and it keeps my long, static-prone fine hair perfectly in place with shine, natural bounce and volume. It can get sticky if you spray too close to the hair, so keep the 10 inch distance as described on the bottle. Brushes out easily. Much better than the horrible Pure Abundance spray, which made my hair a total sticky mess.
What I like about this product is that is doesn't make my already dirty hair (pulled into a pony tail) look dirtier. If anything, I think the drying properties of witch hazel and alcohol are perfect if you're trying to get another day out of your hair before washing it. The nozzle can clog - like with all pump sprays - so run it under hot water.
YUCK! Ugh I am so disappointed and totally regret buying this. I was looking forward to it so much!! First of all, I needed a new hairspray and I also needed to increase my order at Folica to get free shipping, so I bought this without smelling it. The smell is GROSS. It smells very strongly of alcohol which is the first ingredient. I am usually not picky about fragrances but seriously this is nasty. Also, I hate the spray nozzle, it spurts too much too quickly. Finally, it definitely left my hair crunchy. I totally should have just purchased a $5 brand at CVS instead.
This product to me seems for a hairstyle that is loose and messy. Witch Hazel will give hair some "memory", but dont expect it to hold a specific style. I have past bra strap, fine, but lots of wavy to curly hair. I use it as a light layer over the top of my natural curls, and to give my whispy bangs some structure. Obviously I am in the "love this stuff" camp. Does not dry my hair out and has a pleasant, non-alcohol smell. I have tried to go cheaper, but have had no luck in finding something that doesnt leave me crunchy and smelling like alcohol.
i too am surprised at the mediocre reviews for this spray. i really like it. i have been using this for about a year, and will re-purchase when my bottle is done. i don't use a ton of hairspray, and i don't use it everyday, but when i do, this is perfect for me. yes, it is light hold, but just enough to add a little hold and keep the body. the smell is terrific--very 'aveda' smelling. don't expect alot of hold, as it was not designed for that, but if you have fine hair like me, this is perfect.
Disappointing product, don't waste your money.
I can't believe so many people wouldn't buy this hairspray again! I love it! I doesn't make my head itch or my hair crunchy. It doesn't stink or make my face breakout. It says on the bottle that it is light hold, and that's what is does for me - provide light, natural hold. I do have medium thick, fine texture hair, so I suppose I can get away with a lighter hold than those with thicker hair.
As mentioned before, the hold on this product is non-existent. I think it would work better as a light spray gel than a hair spray.
The hold on this is terrible, although I very much like the idea of a non-aerosol can. I like smells of Aveda's products but am coming to find that most of their styling products don't really live up to their descriptions. 15-some dollars is alot to pay for something that doesn't provide even a light hold and it doesn't do anything for flyaways or static either. I will be sticking to Garnier's hair spray for now.
I love this hair spray and am surprised at the bad ratings. It has a light, flexable hold and is gentle on my fine hair. I'm able to comb through the hair after applying it, thus preventing breakage. For those who like a "freeze" hold, you won't like this one. But for my fine, limp hair, it is perfect. It also makes my hair shine and it holds my hair softly in place.
